after reading the thousands of petitions suddenly being sent to my desk to "stop standing out by being on the Forest RMB with a blue flag" I have made the executive decision to make my flag purple and yellow gold for the spooky season, lest I be voted out of the office by the new branch of [Violetism] called [Purple & Gold is the new Violet].

Verdant Haven does not change flags (or any custom fields) casually, but for those who feel the pressing need to witness a purple and gold version of it, I maaaaay have a series of prismatic "Haven" puppets that suit your needs... like this one! I *am* looking at changing, or at the very least dramatically updating, the flags of my bailiwicks over in The Region of Verdant Haven, as I've started to strongly dislike how the plain white background portions look with the flag ripple effect, but I haven't set the time for it yet, nor decided on the unifying theme. The bailiwicks wouldn't be super-keen on white fields like that if I'm honest, as that would look to them too much like surrender flags, which are pretty near the opposite of the manner in which their modern incarnations came to be.

Fortunately, areas smaller than a country generally have worse flags in general, so it's not so big an issue if the flags aren't 100% your peak xD I should make some for Jutsa, but uh... well. I just got done flexing my flagmaking skills over in discord and uh... yeah. I'll probably be cycling through them the month of December as a Christmas present. (Would frankly be fitting for Halloween too though.)

For the record, my flag's colors were settled on after a year of changing all the time (remember those days?), and the motivation was to have something purple and gold. I like that combination. Then the black borders seem appropriate, and I love pink. Pink also seems to go well with purple and yellow, if done as a small accent color, and so there we are. It never occurred to me that it could be for Halloween, though. It is one of my favorite holidays.

Also, I actually saw the aurora borealis last evening, for only the second time in my life!!! The other was when we had a big solar storm in like 2000 or something like that, so I was a kid and don't recall it well. Yesterday was mostly red and pink, but there was also a bit of green at times. It was amazing. I wish that we had auroras all the time. Imagine in the distant past when the polar regions had warm climates. They'd still have extremes with daylight, and also have the auroras. It seems surreal.

Also also, I know everything seems totally deadlocked and tied and whatnot, but I continue to have a slightly more positive than worried feeling about the election. Maybe it's just because we're F-ed nine ways to Sunday if he should win, but I have a small positive feeling on nearly all days. Believe it or not, I felt less positive in 2020, despite much more favorable polling (and 2020 polling was also very far off, much more so than 2016, although Biden still managed to win, whereas Clinton did not). Maybe it's just because I want it to be inconceivable that the orange thing could win again, but in my part of Pennsylvania, I am seeing fewer Trump signs than in 2020 and more Harris signs than Biden signs in 2020, and so that leads me to believe that maybe she'll do better than the polls suggest. When you drive out into the countryside and see the occasional Harris sign on a dirt road, that's something. There were zero Biden signs in 2020 in those same rural places. We'll see. At any rate, I already voted, so if I die in the next few weeks, at least I did one last good thing on this Earth. Keep the faith and VOTE if you haven't already. Vote early, if you can. Try to get someone else to vote, too. I encouraged my students who are 18 to register, and I will remind them a few times before the deadline.

(Also for transparency, I briefly gave my puppet Border Control power to recall how the influence cost estimation works. I can't ascertain that from Ruinenlust, since nothing costs me influence. I then promptly resigned from the test role as ProForestation within like two minutes.)
