With the lingering threat of the Lovastrian army marching in close on Sturemberg, General Voelz knew he had to find a way to divert their attention elsewhere to halt the advance in the north, or else the capital would fall into enemy hands. Rallying the best of generals/admirals to formulate an urgently needed move, he assembled a meeting in his office to hear the ideas of others, most who recommended making an offensive action despite the risks of high casualties. However, General Moritz Blaschko (Marine Guard), insisted on making a surprise assault on the coastal town of Gordam, which was 227 miles within enemy territory. He suggested that the successful capture of the town would guarantee the immediate response from Lovastrian high command to withdraw some of its force to fend off future attacks. Which would grant for a successful, large-scale offense without high risk, and overall push the Lovastrians in the north back and further away from the capital. General Voelz would place General Blaschko in charge of leading the assault, who would take six light regiments under his command, and make way to the intended location aboard the G.S. Pružnost. In the evening of July 30th, General Blaschko and his six regiments would sail ashore under the cover of darkness to begin the assault, before they would make their attack on the garrison, they had to take control over the ammunition depots. Silently, they crept through the town and took down the guards to the depots, all had gone well. The next move was to destroy the armory beneath the garrison, mortars had set themselves into positions and sappers began to create their explosive trail from underneath. Once all was in place, the command was given to ignite the trail, which lead to the explosion of the armory and mortars began to fire at the walls of the garrison and its defenders. Blaschko has then led his troops into the breach, and within less than an hour, he had successfully secured a foothold into the town. By the next day, the Lovastrians had come to reclaim the garrison, and were two regiments stronger than Blaschko with two artillery batteries. Instead of withdrawing, the Glaslians made the full commitment to take their enemy head on, many fell in the fight but oddly it was the Lovastrians who fared worse. Blaschko would then split the six regiments into groups of two, to pursue the retreating Lovastrians and capture strategic points. The 31st/44th would capture Madon Heights, the 53rd/49th subduing enemy troops at Lanslow Crossing, and the 51st/42nd nearly demolishing a smaller force at the Farmyard. August 1st would see the Lovastrians attempting to push back the Glaslian advances once more, with far more bloodshed than the previous day, while repeatedly taking the most casualties despite the odds of the Glaslians. By the second, the commanding general of the local garrison had surrendered the town firmly into Glaslian hands and creating a foothold for operations in enemy territory.
