Concerning the Departure, Continued Departure, and Possible Further Departure of Turktriastan
September 16, 2026

Citizens of Illuminati:

It is with a steady hand and a needlessly large ceremonial seal that I address you concerning a matter of extreme importance.

Turktriastan has left the Illuminati Empire.

Please take a moment to absorb this news. Those who have already absorbed it may take another moment, as Turktriastan appears determined to make the absorption process ongoing.

The departure occurred during the recent Eclipse. As founder, I sent a telegram asking why. Just a small reaxh out, intended to discover whether there had been a disagreement, a misunderstanding, or perhaps a unsatisfactory encounter with the Monolith. My message could not be delivered. I had been blocked.

typically, a nation takes this as a wish for no further conversation. I respected that wish. The matter appeared settled. No big deal really, I wasn't losing sleep.

Then came the dispatch. Turktriastan has now issued a public account of its departure, addressed me directly, announcing that it is against the Empire, warning that it is watching us, and advising me against sending a telegram because I have been blocked. A messenger has separately arrived to urge us to read the dispatch, ban Turktriastan, and spread word of the threat throughout Illuminati. So we arrive at the heart of this crisis: a nation that did not wish to receive a message has issued a public message explaining, among other things, that it does not wish to receive a message. You cant make this stuff up of you tried.

My eye has searched the archives for a procedure governing this situation. There is none. We may have to commission an entirely new Rite.

I propose the Rite of the Shouted Silence To complete it, you must block all private correspondence, climb onto the public balcony, address the blocked party by name, and announce that one refuses to speak with them. A herald may then be dispatched to make absolutely certain they heard.

The contents of the dispatch deserve the careful attention befitting a declaration of this size. It describes a prolonged campaign against Illuminati, undertaken over “years.” This shows a small timeline confusion: the Modern Empire was founded in May, and Turktriastan was with us from July. Our scholars have been asked to investigate whether the nation possesses a time machine, whether opposition began in anticipation of our founding, or whether “years” was chosen because “several weeks” lacked the desired thunder.

The dispatch also reports an effort to bring Elranda to power. Elranda has since stated publicly that they have no affiliation with this enterprise and are neither anti-Empire nor anti-Vyrgil. This is regrettable for the conspiracy, whose alleged beneficiary has declined to participate. We wish the conspiracy success in finding a replacement beneficiary, should its paperwork permit it. I for one think that making a conspiracy about Illuminati while threatening to kill is a bit ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Turkish Messenger has approached with the urgency of someone carrying news of an approaching army. We were instructed to examine Turktriastan’s factbook, ban the nation from Illuminati, and spread the warning across the Empire. The factbook confirms that Turktriastan is against us. It says so repeatedly and in capital letters, which saves the investigative committee considerable time.

As to banning a nation that has already left: the Conclave may consider the strategic value of closing a gate after the traveler has gone through it and attempted to close ot themselves. We could also revoke their invitation to yesterday’s banquet, forbid them from leaving a second time without authorization, and station a guard beside the empty chair they no longer occupy. Why bother relocking a door that they locked themselves? I really dont know on that one.

I must address one detail in of the note. The dispatch declares: “WE’RE WATCHING.”

This is a fun statement from a nation that has blocked our messages. I cannot say precisely what is being watched. Perhaps the regional message board. Perhaps the Monolith. Perhaps this very proclamation. If so, welcome. We have made every effort to ensure it is long enough to reward your vigilance. Most lurkers are quiet, you have shouted your intentions loudly... Im cool with that.

The dispatch also says, “be prepared.” I have followed this instruction. I prepared a cup of tea. and flipped a lucky cigarette incase im asked. I prepared this statement. At great personal sacrifice, I prepared to hear another announcement that Turktriastan has left. Should a third party arrive to alert me that Turktriastan remains gone, I expect to be equal to the occasion.

Let me be clear about the rights at stake. Every nation is free to leave Illuminati. Every nation is free to question its leaders. A good Empire can withstand both. If Turktriastan had wanted to explain its concerns, I asked. If it preferred silence, I accepted the block. What I had not anticipated was the third option: silence by shouting a telegram, followed by a public declaration, followed by a messenger requesting maximum exposure.

I admit, something almost admirable about the scale of the production. For a nation that seldom made their voice heard while it was here, Turktriastan has invested tremendous energy in making its absence an event. It has supplied a conspiracy, a warning, a watchful menace, an unwilling political beneficiary, and a messenger. The only element still missing is a map with red string connecting photographs of people who attended the July welcome.

Accordingly, I ask the citizens of Illuminati to remain composed. Continue your work. Attend your Orders. Debate the future of the Empire. Do not let this affair interrupt the actual business of a region in which people are presently making choices, writing laws, and building things.

If further dispatches arrive, they may be placed in the archives under Ongoing Departures.. Should Turktriastan find evidence that it has left again, the Empire will file the development as it doesnt, should probably, definately not deserves.

Until then, let the history book record show the facts:

Turktriastan left and I noticed. I asked why. I was blocked. Turktriastan then made certain I noticed considerably more. The Monolith stands. The gates are open. The messenger has been heard. No one is required to announce the departure again, though we suspect they will.
