A new Goddess, a new era
The time and day and location was picked so the sun was rising directly above the temple-hill just at this hour. Total silence hung in the air as the new Matron-Goddess Fei-Nuwang stepped outside, dressed in heavyly ornamented garment, her hair full of gold and diamonds, wearing heavy makeup despite her very young age.
Next, all of Reylmyna's matrons came up the stairs, all at least double her age, walked up the stairs to stand before the matron-Goddess. A high-pitched bell chimed, and all of the matrons did their kowtow, in unison, kneeling and pushing their heads to the floor. A faint smile came over the Matron-Goddesses cold expression, looking down on the most powerful women of the country before lifting her eyes, looking over the perfectly straight formations of sodiers standing on the Shaygo-Square, the center of Daedrya.
It was not long ago that Matron-Goddess Kyra died, a foreign upstart who made it to the top of Reylmyna, a symbol of metriocracy known for her informal style and pragmatism. Matron-Goddess Fei-Nuwang was the complete opposite of that: Hand-picked from birth by the Matrons, educated meticulously all her life for this very moment. A traditional woman of etiquette, one who carried the title of a Goddess as more than just a ceremonial one. This event was supposed to highlight exactly that.
The Matron-Goddess did not move, nor did she allow the Matrons to get up again. Her eyes followed Daogao, the high-priestess of Daedrya, walking thru the rows of soldiers until she reaches a microphone-stand in front of the soldiers. While the priestess sung her prayers for two entire hours, nothing seemed to move even an inch. Finally the high-priestess knelt down for her kowtow as well.
It was then when the Matron-Goddess spoke her only words of this entire day, her soft voice echoing across the square:
"It is how it should be. It shall remain so."
Fei-Nuwang turned to go back inside the temple while the national anthem started to play. The matrons got up on their feet again, taking a dignified position and looking down as the soldiers started to re-arrange for a parade. A new era for Reylmyna had begun, and only time would tell what it shall bring.
