Ever had Slim Chickens? It's admittedly a Canes "knock off" but the chicken tastes like it's made with higher quality ingredients, it's less greasy, and they have a TON of sauces and hot sauces - the latter of which appeals to me because I like a little kick and the only hot sauce Canes has is these cheapo generic vinegar-based packets that taste like actual ass. And the fries are fresh-cut rather than the frozen crinkle-cut crap Canes gives you.
And like, let's be honest, maybe we can disagree but Chick-Fil-A slaps. I prefer it to Canes just for the variety. Also, again, the fries are better. You have to admit Canes is really lacking in the french fry department.
The aging curve is not kind to Canes fries. Fresh out of the fryer they're excellent, but once they've sat for a few minutes it's over. Kinda like McDonald's fries, elite when fresh and properly salted, awful dogshit otherwise

When I worked there I ate the fries pretty often. Idk if you mean like STRAIGHT from the fryer but I got what was being served. They're not horrible I've definitely had worse, but they're just kinda basic fries you'd get pretty much anywhere else. Freshcut fries are always where it's at. When I worked at Bru a lot of times I'd just eat the fries as my meal during my break they were so damn good, and Slim Chickens' were maybe like only a point under the 10 that were Bru Burger's fries
Chik fil a does, in fact, slap. I once ate four chicken sandwich deluxe meals, two with chocolate milkshakes, at a work lunch break before my coworkers had finished their meal

Is it me or has KFC gone downhill the last few years? When I was a kid we'd get buckets as a family and have a picnic with KFC food somewhere, High Bridge, the arboretum, or especially family gatherings but obv with more buckets. Idk if it's just the nostalgia but gorging myself on KFC was the best feeling back then. Now it's just greasy fastfood shiz
