The Charter is a casual region, where nations are invited to get involved as much or as little as you like. We take our roleplays seriously, and share a proud history of detailed RP's that have gone on, in some cases, for years. The Charter serves as the successor region to the Sovereign Charter, which began life in 2014, and with many of members having been around for over a decade you can be certain that this region is here to stay! Whether you're into roleplaying, socialising or just lurking, The Charter is more than happy to have you!

The Charter Regional Message Board

No super cool long factbooks from me, but I did finally try making a real coat of arms and some other heraldic elements for my nation, which I'm quite happy with. Bonus points if you can name every flag!

(do ImgBB and PostImage work well for people in other countries? For me they sometimes decide to be extremely slow or just not load anything at all for a period of time. They might throttle connections over here)

The Gorasni people are descended from mountain dwelling tribes, their villages built into the mountains themselves. Long ago, a terrible earthquake rocked the region and destroyed many of the Gorasni villages, collapsing the tunnels that lead to the surface, trapping the occupants inside. To the outside world, that was the end of the Gorasni, with less than 0.1% of the global human population being descended from the few who were on the surface when the tunnels collapsed.

In reality, The Gorasni survived, the earthquake sealed them underground but opened new passages deeper underground. They encountered a mysterious race of people, known as the Fomori. The Fomori were few in number but perfectly adapted to life underground and so Gorasni and Fomori interbred, forming a hybrid lineage that would reemerge after the nuclear exchange Rusina, claiming the Gorasni homeland and their heritage.

The modern Gorasni are still mostly human, but with significant changes due to breeding with the Fomori, namely the pale skin with patches of thicker black scales in places, sensitivity to bright light, as well as increased size and strength. Body hair is rare but almost always grey to white in color. And their teeth are sharper, with their upper and lower canines in particular noticeably longer due to their largely meat based diet, hunting the subterranean creatures of the underground.

The Gorasni govern themselves in much the same way they did before their disappearance: A collection of familial clans and industrial guilds, under the authority of the High Council with the High Thane as the head of state.

The High Council is made up, primarily, of the Clans and their respective Thanes as well as the Guilds and their respective Guild-masters. The High Thane is elected by popular vote from among the Thanes and is treated as a First-Among-Equals.

Finally have an idea for what to do with this nation

Errr, Nouvel Acadie, should we be worried?

Are you demoting yourself??

I mean with successors in place the WA delegate position is more of a liability than it is useful

and a useful reminder I can just do stuff like this

Only in the WA office. We had some 'activity,' and I wanted to make sure we were not going to be the subject of a raid...been there, done that...and the best way to make us unpalatable is make the WA position useless :-)

A few hours early, but just to ensure we can get the maximum recognition:

Happy North Covenant Memorial Day to all who celebrate/commemorate.

Celebrate by looking out the window of your nearest office.

I'm blushing

God I even did it in the opening post of Far Side of the World. (which I still need to post my post for) Covenetians just love staring out windows.

Also Frezko how the hell do you remember this stuff.

I followed the link only to be surprised by own, old post! :D Wow, I totally forgot about that. I will certainly celebrate with a Covenant Fizz from Sovereign Bar. By the way, it’s still kinda empty in there, folks. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=578652
Cheers, North Covenant! *holds up cup in salute*

As, how do you remember all this?

BTW, I also followed the link, Frezko, to the Tol Brandir RP, which was before my time in the Charter. Very cool to see some of the old lore.

My god, this place has history!
