Snow leopards (scientific name: Panthera uncia), or sneps, are a species of big cat found in the mountain ranges of Asia. Of the five species of big cats, of the five species in Panthera genus, they are the smallest. They are also genetically closer to tigers (Panthera tigris) than true leopards (Panthera pardus); in addition, they are the only cat of the Panthera genus that is incapable of roaring.
