It seems like that sadly. I've been waiting.
*Wanders around looking for any dead bodies or lost souls to take with them. There appears to be no trace of any who perished in the fog. Perhaps the fog leaves no residue, or perhaps no one perished, or perhaps they had always been swallowed by the fog and just hadn't realized it until they one day woke up and remembered, and were thus consumed.*

Or perhaps the fog never existed at all.
A once lively town is now found devoid of life. Chernobyl-esque. The fog is gone, along with any signs of life. Forlorn avenues echo with halcyon to town center chatter and song birds. Vines and weeds overtake chipped and crumbling architecture. Shop doors left wide open.
EMERGENCY RADIO TRANSMISSION
To any and all survivors, the data center will assume all broadcast responsibilities, firing rouge segments into the ether for empty ears. Although, one shop in town may be semi-operational…

*Some spirits pick flowers off the margin of the river bank near Old Oak Park. The flowers taste like onions. Unsure of what to think of this, the spirits float to the Far Point Bluffs Botanical Gardens, which just appears to be an overgrown lawn by the mayor’s house. They occupy themselves with butterfly catching.
Amid the sunken shingles
Still and single
Mist-mingled
There lies a garden far away
Where grasses sway, and Spirits play.
*Plucks some pinecones from the surrounding forest, then leaves a wishbone in payment at the gift shop.*
*The data center hums. A loudspeaker emits a brief message of gratitude
We welcome our supernatural guests to our picturesque but otherwise vacant town. There are many skeletons and deceased here that ought to be laid to rest in The Mausoleum.
