Basic Training Establishment, Catterick.
Week 10 out of 14 for the Phase 1 Recruits

They were up before dawn, boots sucking at the mud, breath steaming into the grey. The bayonet lane cut through the training ground like a wound. Wooden stakes, sandbags, low wire and a row of canvas dummies with painted eyes waited. The square thrummed with one thing: shouting.

Colour Sergeant Calloway stood at the entrance, whistle already between his teeth, voice raw. “Right, you muppet sacks. Fix bayonets. Now. Troops, move, fast. If you piss about I’ll make you run ’til your boots fall off.”

Recruits fumbled metal and leather with numb fingers. “Fix!” Calloway barked. “Secure it! On me!” His commands barely audible over the loudspeakers spread through out the forrest blasting gunfire and explosions, the distinct sound of bagpipes was also piercing the ears of all the young recruits.

They formed single file, bayonets fixed, shoulders squared. The lane closed. They lunged and parried at the canvas men, dropped, spun, drove home, rolled, scrambled up and ran on. Every impact was punctuated by commands like gunfire.

“Drive! Drive! DRIVE!” Calloway screamed. “Forward, forward, forward!”

Sergeant Major Hargreaves, voice like gravel, answered from the far end. “You think the enemy waits for you to tie your laces? Bollocks. They come. You answer. Eyes up, chin down, head on a swivel!”

A recruit, Thompson, slipped and went down. Hargreaves was on him in a heartbeat. “Get the f**k up, Thompson! Hands where I can see ’em! Eyes front! Shove your bayonet where it belongs and push like your life depends on it, ’cos one day it might.”

They cycled through again and again. The NCOs kept count in grim jokes, numbers the only way to measure hunger in steel.

“How many that run?” Calloway demanded.

“Two, Colour Sergeant,” Patel wheezed, spitting grit.

“Two. Make it three tomorrow. Out there the Persians and the Russlanders don’t stand about singing hymns. They come with fire and thunder. You need to be the storm that answers them.”

Calloway stalked the line, voice low and mean. “Listen up. This isn’t a bloody play. This is what keeps our cities breathing. This is the thin line between their boots and our children’s beds. You will be the Sword and Shield of our Glorious Empire.”

“What makes the grass grow?!”

For a second the lane held its breath. Then the recruits roared in unison, a single animal shout that shook the canvas men.

“BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD!”

The shout rolled down the lane and came back, harder. The NCOs let them have it, a hail of curses, clipped and salted, every expletive half-swallowed and stamped with command.

“Good,” Hargreaves said. “That’s the sound of commitment. Don’t ever forget it.”

They went harder. Hits came faster. The lads were pushed until their lungs burned and mud filled their mouths. A grunt, a stifled curse, “Christ, my arm,” was answered with a shove and a laugh from another recruit. “That’s the point, mate. Get back up.”

At one point Calloway pulled a recruit aside, voice low and dangerous. “You love your Mum? You love your missus? You love the King? Then learn to kill without blinking. That’s the job. That’s what separates you from the animal they want you to be.”

They finished soaked and shaking, bayonets greasy, faces cut with grit. The final whistle blew and the yard went silent for a heartbeat, like someone had taken a breath and held it.

“Dismissed!” Calloway barked.

They trudged away into the pale morning, bayonets slung, boots heavy, something new and harder knotted in their chests. The ground behind them was churned and torn. The shout, blood, blood, blood, hung in the air, half pride, half warning. The day began, grey and brutal, and the recruits walked into it a little less innocent than before.

Capital Building, Central Command Center

The command center was a hive of activity, as the President walked in, screens flickered with data streams and satellites images, and the air was thick with tension. The Commander in charge along with numerous ministers stood around a large circular table, anticipating his arrival.

The President sat down and everyone else followed sitting as well, as everyone became settled in, the Commander spoke.

"Sir, satellite images have just confirmed, the Federation has taken Mexico City, with their military now completely decimated, the Mexican President is currently trapped in the capital of Mexico City, but he's requesting safe haven in Samboria along with his displaced citizens. Our boys at the southern border have been keeping the refugees at bay, but more droves show up by the day. See it for yourself sir.

The Commander turns on the news...

"Breaking News, as the Federation invasion of Mexico advances, and influx of refugees from the conflict have amassed on our southern border all across Samboria, I'm here in the southern most point of Nuevo Leon and behind me you can see thousands of refugees waiting for safe passage into Samboria."

The camera zooms in at all of the refugees behind the steel bollard border wall, numerous with children and infants.

"Its a sad scene indeed, but questions remains, what will the government do about these refugees? And what will they do about the Federations aggressive takeover of Mexico? Many are already protesting across the country for Samboria to act, many others are arguing that Samboria isn't an international policing power, they aren't responsible to help other countries, especially after the collapse of the UAN, in which made it any man for himself across the globe. But the biggest question still lingers, if the Federation successfully conquers Mexico, will Samboria be next?"

The screen is abruptly shut off, as everyone waits for the President's response.

The air is tense, with the President pressing his hands together, "Signal a Code Yellow to all of our forces, we need our military at max preparedness, especially with a chance of potential attack from the Federation. And with the influx of refugees, let them in, but screen them thoroughly. As for the President, send a small team to extract him, make certain the Federation doesn't find out we are responsible, conceal our involvement."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke up after hearing the President's plan, "With all due respect Mr. President, why risk our hides to save the Mexican President, its not our concern, we haven't had any type of relationship with Mexico in years, their country has fallen to complete squalor, why help some insignificant country?"

The President grinned at the Minister, "Why Minister, I never claimed our assistance would be free, Samboria will get the best out of this situation, I can assure you of that."

The President stood up and smiled at everybody at the table, "Let's get to work people, update me on the situation if anything arises, I'm going to write up some terms and conditions, if you need me dont hesitate to contact me."

The President walked away with an entourage of advisors while the table dispersed and everybody started their respective tasks.

Tycho Station United Sentinel States Lunar Space

A curtain of darkness wrapped the lunar surface. No sun. No horizon glow. Just the darkness of night beyond the floodlights of Tycho Station, the beating industrial heart of the United Sentinel States in space.

The drydock, built into the crater's ancient base, glowed faintly with blue maintenance lights. A ship hung motionless like a frozen giant within. Workers moved in slow silence, as they prepared for launch.

The ship stirred as its engines came online.

Sleek. Unmarked. Angular plating designed not for war, but exploration.

The Jákup Sverri.

Her hull shimmered faintly under the station lights — woven with experimental alloys, meta-dimensional stress latticework, the byproduct of a breakthrough no one outside the highest classifications was permitted to even speculate about.

A voice crackled over control frequencies.

Tycho Control:
“Jákup Sverri, this is Tycho Control. Lunar departure corridor is clear. Burn authorized on vector five-nine. Good luck out there, Sverri.”

For a long moment, the vessel did not move as the massive doors above parted, opening the dock to the void.

Then, quietly — elegantly — she lifted.

No roar. Just the silent push of its drives.

The ship rose into the black lunar sky, Tycho Station dropping away beneath like a sleeping steel city grafted into ancient lunar stone.

The Jákup Sverri cleared the shadow of the crater lip and joined the stars.

Ahead, gliding silently along their orbital tracks, waited the USSC Patrol Group Argos — six ships in formation — their running lights little more than embers against the void.

At the heart of the flotilla: a Sovereign-Class cruiser, USSC Valiant, its hull darkened to combat stealth protocols. The cruiser was a fortress draped in silence — armoured, grim, watchful.

The Sverri approached at minimal thrust, her transponders broadcasting only to the flotilla.

USSC Valiant:
“Sverri, Maintain speed and course USSC Halifax is ready to receive you. You are under blackout orders as of this transmission. Confirm.”

Jákup Sverri:
“Confirmed Valiant, commencing docking.

Sverri maneuvered next to the Eryx class military transport, the massive ship dwarfed the science vessel

A soft magnetic thrum echoed through the Sverri as the Halifax docking clamps engaged.

Aboard the Sverri — Bridge

Dim lights. A holographic star map glowed above the table. The crew of the Sverri stood alongside the cruiser’s captain and navigator holographic display.

On the display:

A faint, blinking marker far beyond Neptune, labeled:

Captain Leyton USSC Valiant gestured to the display.

"We'll begin our main burn here" as he gestures to the display, "a tight formation will be held until we've made or transit past mars, at which point we'll intercept Phobos Station like any other patrol, command knows we're being watched, the Halifax should mask the Sverri until we can use Mars itself to cover your separation a burn away from the flotilla, from that point on you should be well beyond the eyes of any nation watching"

Samboria, The British Imperial, East anglian states, and United Osean Federation

Chelmsford Parade Grounds, EAS News Broadcast
(Time of Broadcast: 10:00)

Host Hello and welcome to this live broadcast of this once in a lifetime opportunity to pay tribute to those we lost during the Syndicate War all those years ago.

For those who aren’t aware East Anglian States has never officially had a chance to pay their respects to the fallen due to economic and political collapse shortly after its end which left the country try in insolation for the years to come until today.

As you can see we the troops gathered for this parade around the new memorial which is currently covered by a huge sheet for the memorial is estimated to be at least 50meters tall although we haven’t yet see what’s since we will see shortly but first a live video from none other then her majesty the Queen, Rosie Godfrey to open this parade.

Queen Rosie Death so much death, this war defined the world through its sheer brutality, millions of lives where lost both soldier and civilian.

My father late King Athelstan was one of the first casualty, he served with bravery but sadly passed at the very beginning of what we didn’t know at the time would be a devastating war that included every known country in the world from both the Vykar Pact to the Pacific Alliance.

Before that was my uncle, Edward who although everyone thought to be mad, was actually the first to realise the true extent of what was to come but again sadly lost his life before it all started.

My Mother Esmerelda whom I know loved me, couldn’t cope with the hardship of war losing her husband, my father. She was sadly lost to her mind during the war which eventually took her life.

If it wasn’t for my husband a Prince of the British Imperial and my lovely children I fear I would have lost all hope and suffered the same fate.

But today is not just about me or my family it’s about you, my brave citizens of East Anglian States and its allies who took the fight to syndicate and sacrificed everything to protect our freedoms.

I thank you all and I salute you for your bravery. Now we must salute the fallen who couldn’t be with us today, those who have fallen in battle and those who here sadly lost from all aspect of life.

The grounds go silent a 2 minute silence is held before a single soldier stand forward of the rest and raises the national flag of East Anglian States and proclaims Long Live The Queen and Long Live The Fallen!

The sheet over the memorial is removed revealing a huge sculpture of soldier bowing his head and a civilian praying, encrusted underneath is Forever the Brave! The crowd watching are in shock but in a good way before music begins to play and soldier begin to march saluting as they march passed the monument.

We now return to the Host.

Host We just heard there from her majesty the Queen, she as you heard she mentioned her father, mother and uncle. All know sadly passed either just before the wars start or after, I can confirm her majesty is safe with her husband and children in The British Imperial under the protection of King Xander.

But now we return to the parade as it begins firstly we see the ground forces lead by Major General Charlie Matheson who actually served as a captain in the now collapsed Monroe Republican States, she wasn’t in the Syndicate War directly but is one of the few who survived a devastating attack on her country which left it in ruins. She along with several others whom we will get to sort asylum and now lives in East Anglian States raising in the ranks to Major General.
She lost her Uncle and mentor Miles Matheson during this event.

We now see a detachment of naval forces lead by High Admiral Hawks who served in the war commanding the entire Anglian Fleet in one of the biggest sea battles the country and potentially the world has seen at the time, he was wounded near the end when his command ship was struck by a missile but was fortunate enough to be saved by Rear Admiral Blight who was only a Private at the time.

As the list goes on we now come to the a special segment of our parade, the honour guard bearing the banners of the noble houses in which we lost during the conflict up until today. That being House Buckland, Blackwood, Maynard, Longstride, Cooper, Francis and finally Underwood. All 7 Houses and all relatives are sadly no more leaving only House Saxon and House Payne not including House Godfrey which lives on with her majesty the Queen.

Behind them is the segment which is dedicated to The Monroe Republican States which many soldiers were sent over by their leader assisting us with the war before its untimely collapse, taking with it as you know Miles Matheson who was second in command to his best friend and President Bass Monroe who also tragically passed during the collapse. Only 1,000 people remain of the Monroe Republic mainly the military personnel who served in the war. Representing the Republic are Captain Jeremy Baker and Negan Smith with the later apparently once was an enemy of the Republic before being persuaded to join and fight for it instead.

Now we head to the fly by lead by Flight Commander Jefferson who leads a squad of Fighter jets leaving a trail of Black, Yellow and White the colours of the national flag, Jefferson joined the Airforce after the war but was present when his father was tortured and killed when his village was under enemy occupation. He now serves with the intent of protecting the people from and threat that can enter from our airspace.

We now reach the final steps which follows a controversial segment, the children of Former Syndicate Loyalists, now before you get in an argument. Evidence shows that many of their parents were under the control of a hypnosis type drug which forced them to do Syndicates bidding. These now grown up children march without banners wearing black suits or dresses to not represent syndicate but to actually remember their parents who were forced to do unforgiving acts upon East Anglian Citizens and others during the war. We are fortunate the crowds are in a generous mood for this is truly a difficult situation for this to happen.

And there we have it folks and watchers from around the world, a parade to remember, a parade not dedicated to military might but a special event to remember those we have lost and continue to loose. For the world will undoubtedly be unforgiving and the nation hope to secure its future.

Outer Sol System — 154 AU Beyond Neptune
The darkness at the fringe of the solar system wasn't like the darkness over Tycho. It was colder, untouched.
Here, even the Sun was nothing more than a pale star — a distant pinprick barely brighter than the others. The void stretched out forever, a silent black ocean.

The Jákup Sverri slowed as it prepared to make the first manned hyperspace jump out of the sol system

Bridge — Jákup Sverri
Dr. Helena Vargo’s breath fogged faintly in the chilled air as she stared at the holographic navigation sphere.
The outer system marker blinked once, then went solid green.

Computer:
“Jump boundary achieved. Gravitational interference: negligible. Meta-field normalization at 98%. Hyper-spool set at condition green.”

Commander Elias Ward stepped closer to the viewport. Beyond the glass: infinity.

Ward: “Hard to believe we’re still in the solar system.”

Vargo didn’t look up.

Vargo: “Very soon… we won’t be, 3mins from jump point.”

The intercom chimed.

Ward: "All hands prepare for hyperspace jump"

The science vessel rotated gently, aligning its prow with a set of invisible coordinates only the navigational systems could fully parse.

Bridge — Jákup Sverri

Vargo: “T–2 Minutes to Jump, engaging blast shields, charging the hyperdrive"

The ship vibrated softly as the experimental hyperdrive came online. The deck plating hummed. The lights dimmed. The air itself felt charged.

Computer:
“Meta-dimensional lattice stabilizing.”
“Graviton shear containment online.”
“Jump aperture forming.”

Ward steadied himself as a low, harmonic rumble rippled through the hull — like space itself was stretching around them.

Ward: “Feels like the whole ship is holding its breath.”

Vargo’s fingers flew across her controls.

Vargo: “It’s normal. Or at least… theoretically normal.”

A pause.

Ward: “Comforting.”

She almost smiled, almost.

The main display shifted — showing a swirl of deep blues and violent whites. A vortex forming in the fabric of spacetime itself.

Computer:
“Hyper-field stable.”
“Course plotted: LKX-1439 — Aurora Novalus candidate.”
“Ready for jump.”

The crew exchanged glances.
No speeches.
No ceremony.
Just the weight of history hanging in the silence.

Ward: “Take us through.”

She nodded once.
And pressed EXECUTE.

The space around the Sverri warped.
Stars stretched into luminous threads.
Light folded into impossible angles.
The ship elongated, then snapped back, then bled into colour the human eye couldn’t interpret.
The hyperdrive roared without sound.
Reality tore open like a curtain.
A swirling aperture — not blue, not white, but something between thought and physics — yawned wide before the ship.
The Sverri accelerated—and then vanished, swallowed whole by the meta-dimensional event horizon.
The aperture slammed shut behind her.
Silence of the void returned.
Humanity’s first true interstellar mission was gone.

Samboria, The British Imperial, East anglian states, and United Osean Federation

Samborian State News, National Broadcast Alert

President Blackwell stood in front of the podium, clearing his throat before commencing.

"People of Samboria, my fellow countryman, mark today as a date to remember for the rest of your lives, a mere hour ago the Union of Samboria was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Federation of the Americas, they caught our fleet off guard in the Gulf of Mexico, and they continue to march across Mexico nearing our border. But I will tell you something, I know many of you are scared at what is unfolding in front of our very eyes, but rest assured the Federation will not set one foot in our country, mark this day as the beginning of the Federations downfall. The Federation has conquered over half of the Americas through brutal invasion, intimidation, and terror, and that's exactly what we're gonna do to them. We will all have to make sacrifices, but it will be worth it, the world is already in a sorry state, but we will prevail, we are are facing a war mongering aggressor and they will be utterly destroyed, I can promise you that. God bless you all, kiss your loved ones and be ready for what's to come."

The Samborian military officially switches to code red, and commence mass deployment of their forces against the Federation. The sky is full of planes and multitudes of covoys heading into Mexico, while naval forces traverse the Gulf of California to the West and the Gulf of Mexico to the East intending on wiping out the Federation threat on the continent completely.

1 month later...

A few miles outside Mexico City

A dropship approaches their intended drop zone, nearing Mexico City.

The ship was loaded with Samborian Marines clad in exo suites, supported by the Samborian Space Corps, all personal were locked and ready to launch.

The Commander approached, "Alright, alright, listen up! We have our orders, we're entering the hot zone. Down and dirty, just like we taught you. Everybody knows what's going on? Everybody know where they are going?

The Marines chant, "Ooo rah!"

The Commander looked at them one last time, "Everybody ready?" Alright let's do this!"

The Marines hurried to their pods, ready for launch, the ship intercom came to life, "Be strapped in and ready, I repeat be strapped in and ready, ready for launch, 10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Launch! Launch!

Multiple pods ejected from the dropship, hails of gunfire fire and explosions dotting the sky.

On the ground large Federation anti aircraft guns light up the sky, strike craft from Anchorpoint Station are launched, and hundreds of autonomous drones come raining down from the sky.

Multiple pods make impact on the ground. Some even hitting buildings, but unscathed, the battle for Mexico City begins.

War Intensifies as Imperial Forces Face Expanding Battles

Fighting has escalated sharply across both major fronts, and Imperial commanders warn that the coming weeks may determine the long-term direction of the conflict.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Imperial forces are engaged in near-continuous combat on the northern and eastern fronts. Several border towns have shifted control multiple times over the past seventy-two hours, with officials describing the situation as “high-intensity and fast-moving.”

On the northern front, the Russland Federation has reinforced its armoured spearheads with additional artillery support. In response, the Imperial Army has deployed fresh mechanised brigades and expanded counterattack operations. MOD officials say these actions have slowed enemy momentum, though fighting remains fierce.

Meanwhile, the Persian Imperium has launched renewed attacks along major transport corridors to hinder Imperial reinforcement and supply efforts. Engineering units are working around the clock to maintain the flow of equipment and keep logistical routes operational.

The Royal Imperial Navy confirmed today that maritime operations in the Arabian Sea have widened. Admiral Sir Charles Pembroke has authorised a series of precision submarine and naval-air strikes targeting what he describes as “military infrastructure central to enemy operations.” Sources indicate several coastal repair facilities and fuel depots have been hit in the past forty-eight hours.

The RAF has intensified its own missions, focusing on interdictions and strategic strikes. Air Chief Marshal Rosalind Graves stated that RAF aircraft are conducting “high-risk operations aimed at disrupting enemy command, transport, and reinforcement structures.” Pegasus Station continues to provide crucial surveillance and targeting data, allowing for rapid response to shifting battlefield conditions.

In New London, the political climate has grown increasingly tense. As the conflict escalates, Parliament faces growing internal and external pressure to adopt stronger wartime measures. The Royal Party, which advises His Majesty King Xander, has reportedly warned MPs that “incremental actions are no longer adequate” and is urging preparations for a broader national mobilisation. Senior officials confirm that intense discussions have been taking place behind closed doors.

Recruitment offices across the Empire report a sharp increase in volunteers, though concerns remain about long-term manpower requirements should the conflict continue to expand. A formal mobilisation bill has not yet been introduced, but sources close to the government suggest it is being actively drafted.

Despite the intensifying combat, the government maintains that the Empire remains secure, organised, and fully committed to defending its people and territory. A joint statement from the Prime Minister and Defence Minister is expected later tonight, addressing the state of the conflict and outlining potential next steps.

Beyond the Homefront, The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that Imperial forces are now fully engaged in assisting allied nations Italy and Germany as they confront simultaneous offensives launched by the Russland Federation and the Balkan Entente.

According to the MOD, Imperial rapid-deployment units, including elements of the 3rd Armoured Brigade and several Alicorn transport wings, have arrived in northern Italy to reinforce defensive lines near key logistic hubs. These units are working alongside Italian mechanised divisions to halt Balkan Entente armoured pushes attempting to break through the Alpine passes.

Corporal Wilkes grinned in that feral way that made new recruits nervous. “So what do we hit first? Ammo depots? Command trucks? Or do we steal another one of their bloody tanks just to annoy them?”

Captain Sterling rose from his seat, brushing dust off his sleeves as though he were preparing to step onto a stage rather than into the jaws of chaos. His eyes gleamed like someone had just handed him a birthday cake filled with explosives.

“Gentlemen,” he said, “this is the moment the SAS was born for. Bless Her Majesty. Truly. The Queen is the Mother Commander of our fine regiments, And now she has just told her sons to bring hell to her enemies. I don't know about you Lads and Lass' but I would like to Impress my Mother”

A ripple of wicked excitement went through the team.

MacLeod shrugged. “They keep wandering off cliffs when I’m around. Strange business.”

Lieutenant Hargrave unfurled a crude map. “We’ve spotted three targets worth ruining. An artillery battery chewing up our boys near the frontier. A fuel convoy coming through a narrow valley. And a comms hub so fragile it might fall over if Wilkes sneezes on it.”

Wilkes pretended to sneeze on the map. “Terrifying, innit.”

Sterling clapped his hands once, sharp as a rifle crack. “We hit all three. Swift, loud, elegant in its own deranged way. Tonight we leave footprints on their soul.”

The squad let out a low cheer, eager, hungry.

MacLeod slung his rifle. “Permission to be bastards, Captain?”

Sterling smirked. “Permission was just granted by the Crown herself. Move light, strike hard, vanish before they realise we were real. Then we get drunk back at our FOB”

EAS Military Training Grounds, Colchester

We follow a detachment of the newly formed Monroe Company made up of the former Monroe Militia who wish to serve East Anglian States.

They are put through the test with rigorous training and dangerous tasks in order to be successful and effective in all forms of combat.

It is here we see Negan Smith and Jeremy Baker they are fighting hand to hand in the damp and wet weather. This task was to ensure that even without weapons any EAS soldier is capable of handling their own. Negan is see putting up a good fight but falling to the ground and being pinned by Baker until the instructor calls for the task to end.

Negan is exhausted but gets up with the helping hand from Baker.

Baker (Laughing) Maybe I should go easy on you next time old man.

Negan Just wait till I’m allowed Lucille then I’d woop your ass back to school.

Negan and Baker have a laugh together before the Instructor heads straight to them shutting them up as they stand straight to attention.

Instructor Mr Smith and Mr Baker both your probationary training periods are now over, it’s now time you you to go out on exercise.

You two and 20 others of the company will be tasked with patrolling a section the northern border ensuring that the northern tribes are monitored.

Negan In all due respect sir, we are better then border guards, we have fought wars and request a better posting.

The Instructor leans straight into Negan smirky face and gives him a pet down.

Instructor (Angry) You do as you are told Mr Smith, because of that comment you and the rest will be equip with primative weapons. Similar to what you people used back when you were militia. Muskets, Swords, Bow and Arrows, this will save EAS allot of money.

Baker Woh, Woh, Sir! Negan doesn’t represent all of us he join the Monroe Republic near the end, punish him not the rest of us.

The instructor is not listening and instructs them to gather their new uniform and pack their bags they leave at night fall.

Baker looks at Negan with frustration but they sadly have to work together in order to be accepted into East Anglian States as full citizens. Although they may be mutual friends sometimes they will have problems.

They head to their quarters and gather what they need for the journey and assignment ahead.
