Civilians Rejoice Upon Victory of King in Conclusion of Expensive Wager

On June 18, 2025,⁽¹⁾ vast numbers of civilians were glued to their screens upon the release of a long-awaited official broadcast from Dream, one of the two diarchy's kings. This broadcast was the finale of a three-part wager and resulted in Dream's victory, to the excitement of most.

The broadcast was the culmination of a highly publicized feud involving Dream and the outside figure Daquavis, who has had a long history of releasing footage of himself that displayed supposed physical prowess in combat and various other skills; he has later stated that when creating this material he "purposely [made] them look fake".⁽²⁾ This was most often footage of him engaging in battles with actors that played well-known figures, with Dream being depicted more often than any other. On April 11, 2025,⁽³⁾ Dream responded to Daquavis by challenging him to a duel so that the public could see how much skill he actually had. On April 15, 2025,⁽⁴⁾ Daquavis responded by stating he would only duel Dream if he agreed to a contract that would make the loser of the fight give the winner $100,000. Dream agreed to the prospect of a wager on April 17, 2025,⁽⁵⁾ and it was announced on April 25, 2025,⁽⁶⁾ by Daquavis that a contract had been signed, and the winner would be determined by who won a majority of two—or if necessary, three—differently themed rounds. Dream might have been motivated to challenge Daquavis because a non-negligible number of people believed Daquavis possessed a greater amount of physical skill than him because they thought the footage of Daquavis fighting actors that played as Dream was real.

Dream has had a long history of publicly defending himself against negative commentary from others to varying success, including non-governing topics. A very prominent part of Dream's public image is his level of physical skill, as Dream has released footage of himself engaging in recreational activities such as sword fighting, archery, and parkour, usually to great success. However, he has many detractors that believe that, and have attempted to make arguments for, various moments within the footage being faked by Dream through editing, staging, and/or having participants in the footage perform worse than their potential. Many detractors claim that the footage is propaganda in order to maintain a positive public persona, and bolster a supposed cult of personality to increase the amount of support he receives, which benefits the diarchy since it mainly earns wealth from voluntary taxation. Of the footage that Dream still claims to be legit, there has yet to be a specific moment within or entry of the footage that has gained the agreement of a majority of observers or the public to have been falsified. Dream has responded to many of these claims in great detail in order to convince others that what he has released serves as valid proof of skill, as well as to lessen the overall negative image of himself held by many detractors that he is an untruthful person.

The June 18 broadcast was the tiebreaker round of the wager, after two previous rounds that were shown to the public on May 3, 2025,⁽⁷⁾ and May 11, 2025.⁽⁸⁾ The broadcast on May 3 consisted only of combat against one another and was won by Dream, while the broadcast on May 11 round showed only non-combat skills and was won by Daquavis. The broadcast on June 18 round was a challenge in the wilderness where Dream had to outrun Daquavis and complete a certain objective before Daquavis physically stopped him, and Dream succeeded, thus being the winner of the $100,000 wager.

A majority of those who viewed the broadcast wanted and expected that Dream would win. However, the amount of confidence held by the public that Dream would ultimately be the winner had decreased compared to the beginning of the feud in April 2025, when it was extremely high. The May 3 combat round broadcast was closer than many were expecting, with Dream winning the first part 5-2, losing the second part 4-5, and then narrowly winning the tiebreaker third part 5-4. The May 11 non-combat round broadcast was supposed to consist of ten non-combat skills, and the first five were completed on a different day than the remaining ones. Dream won three of the first five and discussed its progress with the public not long after, stating he was "95% sure"⁽⁹⁾ he would overall win the non-combat round. He could have won by winning enough of the remaining skills to have won a majority of them or by tying with Daquavis, since it was agreed that in the event of a tie, the winner of the combat round would automatically win,⁽¹⁰⁾ and Dream had already won that round. Neither way for Dream to win that round happened. In the remaining five skills, he lost the sixth one and tied with Daquavis on the seventh, which meant neither could score a point from it; thus, to win a majority, either one only needed 5 out of 9 points instead of 6 out of 10. Dream lost the next two rounds, meaning Daquavis had the needed 5 points for a majority, and the tenth skill was unnecessary for determining the winner of the non-combat round. Dream's loss in the May 11 non-combat round broadcast received mixed reactions, as some were disappointed that he had failed to meet their and his own expectations, while others were excited, as it meant that the potential third tiebreaker round was necessary and thus the feud had to last longer, and most of the public enjoyed watching the feud take place. After the second round, it was expected by many that the third round would be extremely close but still result in Dream's victory, which ended up being true, as Daquavis was very close to stopping Dream multiple times.

While the feud has been positively received as a source of entertainment by most, others expressed dissatisfaction for multiple differing reasons. Some supporters of Dream did not want him to engage in a dispute with Daquavis because of their personal dislike or distrust of Daquavis specifically and/or others in general because of Dream's previous experiences, their desire for him to only interact with his immediate circle, fear that he could fail, fear that Daquavis specifically and/or others in general during a dispute could sabotage Dream in a personal manner or act against set expectations or rules, and/or an overall wish to shield him from possibly negative interactions, activities, and publicity. For supporters of Daquavis, many of them wished for him to win instead of Dream because they thought he had received an undeserved level of backlash from others that disregarded him as a person for not releasing legitimate footage. Daquavis's supporters fought back against those who thought that his intentions as a public figure were to trick others that his footage was real by pointing to how he had been open about how his footage "[involved] staging",⁽¹¹⁾ and they disagreed with the assumption that he had to lack actual physical skill if he only released footage made through those means, and this assumption has become less popular. There were also those who disliked the feud since they liked neither person, and they opposed both sides or were only on one side to spite the other one that they disliked to a greater degree. Some viewed Dream and/or Daquavis as childish, dishonest, attention-seeking, greedy, not that skilled, and/or undeserving of the large amount of wealth needed to make the wager in the first place instead of using it for another cause.

The most common reason overall for negative perceptions of the feud stemmed from accusations that it was staged. Many detractors expressed their belief that the entire feud was untrue, or at least aspects of it, with many differing proposals of what was false and what would be Dream's and/or Daquavis's motivations for dishonesty. The most popular proposal points to the fact that Dream has had a decrease in the amount of attention, supporters, and rate of gain of wealth than in previous years, so he could have wanted to falsify parts of or the entire feud so that all three desired qualities would increase much higher than the amount they would be at if it was conducted truthfully; Dream stated on April 26, 2025, that he had made the largest gain in support since October 2022.⁽¹²⁾ While Daquavis was receiving more overall attention towards him around the time prior to the start of the feud compared to Dream, which is a fact that Daquavis had mentioned himself,⁽⁴⁾ there were still many who did not know him that well or at all but knew who Dream was, and the feud familiarized him to those people, and some propose this could be a motive for Daquavis to agree to a staged duel; the feud also led to a more positive perception for Daquavis from most of the public, since it showed that he had more skill than expected and it humanized him. Many detractors claim that Dream and Daquavis agreed on who would be the winner of one or more rounds beforehand in order to fulfill their personal goals. Most important for their goals was that they had to make the tiebreaker round happen so that they could receive maximum attention, so they decided that one person would win the first round and the other would win the second; believers of this theory can range from those who think the combat round was legitimately won by Dream and only the non-combat round had a predetermined winner in order to necessitate the tiebreaker round, to those to think every round had a predetermined winner according to what was best for their reputations. Overall, combat skills are more valued than non-combat skills by the public, and Dream had a lengthier and more prominent reputation for being skilled in combat than Daquavis, so it would have hurt Dream's image much more for him to lose the combat round (and also the tiebreaker round due to it including moments of combat when Dream had to fend off Daquavis from fully stopping his progression into the challenge) than it ended up hurting Daquavis's; this difference in amount of combat skill-level expected of Dream versus Daquavis by the public and thus the differing potential impact on either's reputations if those expectations were not met was discussed by Daquavis and his trainer prior to the first fight,⁽¹³⁾ by Dream after completing half of the non-combat second round,⁽¹⁴⁾ and by Dream and Daquavis after the tiebreaker finale.⁽¹⁵⁾

Specific claims of falsification in the feud include that Dream's underperformance in the second and especially the third parts of the combat fight was intentional in order to make the fight closer and thus more exciting, as well as that he failed in many of but mainly the ninth and final of the non-combat skills so that he would intentionally lose that round. Other reasons for suspicion, according to some, relate to the behavior of Dream and Daquavis; some believe they had acted too friendly towards each other for them to have been strangers, and Dream's closest allies, including the other king, GeorgeNotFound, have interacted in a positive manner publicly with Daquavis multiple times since the first broadcast of the wager,⁽¹⁶⁾⁽¹⁷⁾⁽¹⁸⁾⁽¹⁹⁾⁽²⁰⁾⁽²¹⁾ which has led to some believing Daquavis was secretly friends with Dream, GeorgeNotFound, and other allies beforehand. Another area of speculation concerns Daquavis's trainer's claim that Daquavis had to sign a "strict NDA" about the duel,⁽²²⁾⁽²³⁾ leaving questions about what information exists that he cannot share with the public. Supporters of Dream have fought on Dream's behalf against his detractors' claims of staging, such as the tiebreaker round being pre-planned, believing that Dream was honest when he expressed his fears about the tiebreaker round⁽¹⁴⁾ and that it would not fit the behavior of a person who is knowingly predetermined to win. Many have expressed apathy towards whether the feud is staged or real, prioritizing its entertainment level.

Regardless of any positive, neutral, ambivalent, or negative perceptions, the trilogy of broadcasts marks Dream's return to public demonstrations of his physical skill after a long period of physical inactivity where he focused on other activities. Dream has claimed that after his feud with Daquavis and a period of further physical training that he plans to challenge more figures to duel.⁽²⁴⁾ Time will tell if he will find the same amount of success and enthusiasm from the public in his possible future duels as his against Daquavis has had.
