Leo is one of the constellations of the zodiac, between Cancer, the Crab, to the west and Virgo, the Maiden, to the east. It is located in the Northern celestial hemisphere. Its name is Latin for lion. Leo contains many bright stars, many of which were individually identified by the ancients: Alpha Leonis, called Regulus, Beta Leonis, also called Denebola, Gamma Leonis, also called Algieba, Delta Leonis, called Zosma, Mu Leonis, known as Rasalas, Theta Leonis, called Chertan, Epsilon Leonis known as Algenubi or Ras Elased Australis, Eta Leonis known as Al Jabhah, Zeta Leonis also named Adhafera.
