It keeps the simple, elegant design and has a unique symbol on it. I really like the flag.

Thank chu a ton :3

It seems that 8.8% of my citizens die from.....bungee jumping. That's a weirdly specific thing to die from, lol.

I'm pretty sure that there's a specific issue on bungee jumping, and if you legalize it, you get that cause of death. I agree that it's oddly specific.

Really, there's a specific issue about that?I cannot remember it...Probably I've already confronted that issue and I cannot recall it now.

All the extroverts are out talking to people and being productive and depressed, meanwhile I'm here drawing flags and playing nationstates and being productive and depressed

We have 3/24 now, lol. It's amusing, as statistically, a normal sample of people would be noticeably more extraverted (or at least ambiverted) than introverted, and yet we have something like only 12% who identify as extraverts. NationStates itself, I suppose, just has a particular appeal.

Welcome, Inasaki, Violetnethoph, Tawolfy, Velossa, Ainezm cuvrwt, and Tibigibagwegwegwe, to Refugia! I hope all of you enjoy your stays. If it applies to you, please pay attention to the rest of this message.

Refugia aims to be a friendly, laid-back community, which is open to players of all skill levels. Nations who wish to become more active in the region, however, should consider joining the World Assembly (WA). WA nations are able to vote on international law, and receive exclusive benefits within the region, such as the ability to vote in regional polls and elections, get a spot on Refugia's map, and even run for office when elections come up! If you're interested in joining the WA, check out this article, and make sure to endorse our delegate.

If you'd rather just chill with us, that's perfectly fine as well. We have an offsite forum, as well as frequent discussions on the regional message board (RMB), which everyone is welcome to participate in!

If you have any additional questions about the region or how NationStates works, feel free to leave them here, on the RMB. If you're interested in joining our offsite forum, look for the link at the top of Refugia's World Factbook Entry (the big text box at the top of our regional page).

Once again, I really hope you enjoy your time here, and look forward to seeing more of you soon!

Thank you for the kind welcome. I look forward to being a part of what looks to be a active and well run region. For the moment I will abstain from WA membership, it’s seems to have become some what trivial with a resolution being passed one week only to be over ruled the next. I believe fun of this game sits within the regions themselves, which is why I’m excited to be here.

Than you kindly, I'll be sure to do my best to make yall proud. And I agree with Velossa, seems better to stick away from WA. Prefer to keep to our region.

To rephrase what I said before in a more serious way, we do have a kind of biased sampling here. I'd imagine introverted people would be more attracted to to this game, which explains why there are so few self-declared extroverts here.

It's totally your choice, of course, and if you'd prefer to stay away from the WA for personal reasons, I totally understand. That being said, signing up for the WA and cross-endorsing other people in the region improves our say in matters of the GA and SC. We can't make things better if we don't participate.

But to what ends? There is no resolution passed in the WA, GA, or SC that has any actual bearing on region or nation legislation. My nation is run by the decisions I make on the issues, regardless of whether or not any assembly approve. Power to influence decisions that carry no weight isn’t worth the votes.

The WA allows member nations to vote on (GA) proposals, which, if passed, have measurable affects on the laws and statistics of all WA nations. A piece of legislation which advocates for environmental protection, for instance, would collectively (albeit only slightly) increase NS's eco-friendliness, while one that advocates free market policies would increase game-wide levels of economic freedom.

Joining the WA also has another appeal-- even if you don't participate in the legislative side of the game, endorsing other nations in your region helps to ensure regional stability, and in the case that something were to happen to that region's founder, protect the region from any successful invasions.

Those are good points but a marginal change for the constant propose/repeal doesn’t seem to show for anything. As for the invade point, that’s a positive although that can also be closed down by the regional officers.

I do agree that it's not a particularly influential system, but you can't win every battle, and quite frankly, if legislation was weighted more heavily, game stats would be absurdly chaotic, and issues playing would border on uselessness within member states. People oftentimes don't agree, and so naturally, proposals will be created and discarded as the playerbase's standpoints evolve, but that doesn't make WA participation useless. Plenty of proposals, if well written, end up unrepealed.

And yes, regional passwords can be put in place, but locking down a region which relies on in game recruitment is more often than not an undesirable outcome, as it stunts regional growth and ultimately results in a dead region. Additionally, it can only be done if officers catch the invasion in it's midst, and coup attempts are usually either covert or highly synchronized.

Regardless, the choice is entirely yours.
