Mechanocracy was originally inspired by a mixture of worldbuilding and idle daydreaming about a setting in a Rimworld-like section of distance space, where the local empire had been extinguished by someone misusing a faster-than-light drive to turn a ship into a weapon capable of blowing a sizable hole into the capital planet of said empire. Amongst the groups that decided they wanted a better future in the wake of that collaspe were robots from all walks of life, who, though varying in what cultures and faiths they practiced, what governments they observed, had all formed a collective to represent sentient non-organic life.
