Medicare here I come...

Is that a good or bad thing? Or indifferent?

Thought your birthday was some lucky day in September...

Trecdom2 wrote:Is that a good or bad thing? Or indifferent?

Indifferent. There were some cutbacks at work. I was one of the cutbacks. It was the logical thing to cut me. I was out of there at the end of the year anyway. I wasn't even out the door when they talking about me freelancing for them.

It is. But circumstances changed. I lose the company insurance the end of July.

I know that the team on the Amazing Race that was eliminated on this week's episode wasn't everyone's favorite, but to be eliminated due to what was mainly a production error is not a good way to go. The A/V team was in a separate vehicle behind them and took a different exit at a roundabout. The team continued to the next challenge but was told to wait for their crew to show up. After 90 minutes, they were allowed to start with a backup crew. That put them far enough behind everyone that they couldn't catch up.

That would piss me off beyond words. I hope that is not true.

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

YaHootie! Tacos! Are you ready for some Saturday Breakfast, still All-Fresh? Bring out the Drones! The NewTexas Happy Taco Stands, in conjunction with the NewTexas Incendiary Corporation, has approximately 1 trillion of the fastest, lightest drones you have ever seen. Today's special breakfast will Saturday Sausage & Egg Breakfast Tacos [COVID-19 Week CCVI Edition]! The Big Tex Happy Taco Stands of NewTexas have a classic we all know and love today. While we could have used good ol' Jimmy Dean, we did not. We made our own sausage just for you Texas. Our blend is whole-hog, Texas-raised pork, all seasoned up with the perfect blend of sage, maple, and chili flakes. We had tens of thousands of big ol' black cast iron skillets browning up the sausage and when it was just right, we would pour in perfectly scrambled Texas Grade AA, farm-fresh, Organic Eggs. Pure, sun-yellow goodness mixed with juicy sausage! It does not get much better than that. We load all that into a hand-made flour tortilla made by certified Texas Abuelitas with love. Remember, a whole egg in every taco!®

Today's Special Salsa is - Salsa Taqueria - a fiery salsa prepared with tomatoes, garlic, and chiles de árbol. A sealed cup of Texas-made Longhorn Cheddar Jack cheese is also included for the cheese lovers. The taco is hermetically sealed in a Stay-Warm® pouch wrapped in the same ol' aluminum foil we are all so familiar with for our breakfast taco. We are trying to keep it real, peeps. For your beverage accompaniment, a packet of Sanka, Tang and a Lipton Tea bag will be included with every delivery as well as salt and pepper and a napkin. Yes, it is different, but it works and you do not even have to leave your residence. Woo! And, watch out for the drones! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. You know you want to!®

Stay Safe Texas. Stay Well. Hang in there!

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, or 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php

Please register with your nation name. This is an excellent opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, debate, and talk about the weather, stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff, and more. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and discussing the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, VirtualTexans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome.

We have added a new feature to Texas Chat, Texas Movie Chat! Chat with Texans while watching a movie. Fun stuff! So far we have watched Halloween, Shootout at the OK Corral, Red, and recently a few new Star Trek series episodes. Want to watch something together?

Texas Chat, 987 weeks, and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 19½ years! Check it out! Good stuff!

I was reading between the lines in a Fox News article about the "pro-Palestinian" occupation of the admin building at Columbia University the other day. The story basically says the protestors held a maintenance worker "hostage," then let him go as an act of "good faith."

However the two pictures running with the article tell a far different story. It is my guess, and I cannot overemphasize that word guess, that conversation went something like this:
Protestor: You are our hostage!
Maint. Worker: [Insert really thick New York/Brooklyn accent] Oh yeah? I got your hostage right here.
Protester: **Ow... ** Hey! You're our hostage. You can't do... **OUCH** "Stop it!" **OWWWWWW**
Maint. Worker: I'm walking out that [expletive deleted] door right [expletive deleted] now. You got a [expletive deleted] problem with that?
Protester choking out words through an occluded airway: No problem, man.

I know, I know, small things to amuse small minds. I laughed way too hard while reading that article the second time after seeing those pictures.

I'm Glad the change in employment status is due to downsizing at the company rather than them not wanting your services anymore. It's interesting they're already talking about you freelancing for them.

As for The Amazing Race, that's the information given by the team. I think they also said they were told to head to the next checkpoint if they were unable to reunite with the camera crew. Pretty sure earlier in the episode, the camera crew said on the radio they would inform them if the two cars got separated, so it makes sense to me for them to head to the next location.

There is some speculation among some fans that it was a penalty, either for "losing the camera crew" or breaking a traffic law while going through the roundabout. There are a few podcasts by previous contestants, one of which I listen to regularly, I will have to listen to a few of them to get their opinion of the situation.

The Realizer's Trivia Nights / Forest Trivia Competition:
..::~~Trivia Week Five~~::..

A message from The Realizer:

“Well... I would never have predicted this... That NS crash has scuppered my planning a fair bit, hehe... One Week turned into about 3 and it slightly delayed something which I'll reveal tomorrow.

Thank you to all who participated in the bumper edition of the Forest Trivia for week 4. I'm afraid I haven't managed to get together the answers for week 4 together yet. Additionally, the legendary card I promised as the prize is, well, non-existent... Once cards are back, I'll make sure to get it to the winner. I'm aiming to get the answers and results for week 4 out for Monday (depending on what real life brings) so watch out for that if you're interested...

Once again, I'm sorry that I haven't got the answer dispatch out yet, life has been... hectic... recently.

Have a great day...”

Trivia Rules

The questions will be released every Saturday

These questions will be in the style of the popular quiz show, Only Connect

I shall post the dispatch with the questions in on the RMB

From that point onwards everyone, residents of forest or embassy regions, has One Week to answer the questions

Answers Must be submitted by Telegram

Only Telegram submissions will be accepted. Any answers posted on the RMB will be suppressed.

ABSOLUTELY NO GOOGLING OF ANSWERS IS ALLOWED if you are suspected of googling, a point will be deducted. Repeat offenders will have more severe sanctions

ABSOLUTELY NO USAGE OF AI IS ALLOWED if you are suspected of using AI, a point will be deducted. Repeat offenders will have more severe sanctions

Results

After the week has concluded, I shall release the answers to the previous week's questions in the same dispatch.

There will also be explanations as to how you could have reached the answers, in case anyone is interested

Alongside this, there shall be a two leaderboards compiled. One weekly leaderboard and one overall leaderboard.

Prizes!

The person(s) who get the most correct answers each week will share the "prize pot" equally which shall be equal to 20.00 DV

At the end of each month, the person at the top of the overall leaderboard shall receive a legendary!

The person who is at the top of the overall leaderboard at the end of the term, shall receive a grand prize of 5 legendaries!

Helpful Tips

If you don't know the answer, just have a guess! There's no harm in having an educated guess, you might just be right!

Watch out for a word question! If the clues seem so random that you just can't find a connection, it could be that it's a word question! The words themselves could be the connection!

If you aren't sure about the answer to the question, when you're submitting them, try to explain your thinking to me! If your thinking is correct but you don't quite get the answer, you'll get half of a point. They all count in the long run!

Take your time! There's no rush... You have a week to answer the questions so you have plenty of time to think and trivialise!

And most importantly...

Have fun!

Happy Cinco de Mayo Texas! For those who are unaware of the significance of May 5th in Mexican history, it was the day the Mexicans beat the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. This was significant because the Mexicans had been granted independence from Spain in 1821 but Napoleon was trying to invade Mexico and put one of his relatives in as ruler of Mexico. It was a glorious victory for Mexico. We will be zipping out, via drone, Grilled Beef, Chicken, Shrimp & Portobello Fajitas all day & night! No Mariachis this year, but an inflatable sombrero will be included in every delivery as well as a complimentary shot of Patron! So, have some tacos, throw back some shots, and hold on to your maracas and Party! ¡Arriba!

Getting repair on the cardiac electrical system leaves one on their butt with nothing but time on their hands while the insult to the body recovers. (Don't push, pull, lift, shove, kick, bite, or otherwise manhandle anything over ten pounds. Can't even take the trash out.) With all that time on my hands, I downloaded the trail camera for the first time in a year or so. (I also found out it had been dead for a while. Fixed it.)

So here's some video of some of the critters that live in the backyard:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTWJTabzGDI

I was thinking about doing a couple more of these, but Alas. The majority of the video in the camera was useless. Moving trees, one really aggressive spider, and quick glimpses of squirrel and raccoon parts climbing the tree. Maybe I should set up a feeder.

Yeah, the cutbacks came down from on high. We are talking two companies up the food chain. The people on the local level are already regretting the loss in manpower along with a push to produce more. It is my guess I'll be back out in the field as soon as the doctor says so.

Trecdom2 wrote:There is some speculation among some fans that it was a penalty, either for "losing the camera crew" or breaking a traffic law while going through the roundabout.

That contestant contract and rules of the game would be interesting reading. But I would not be waiting around for the camera crew if I were on that game unless there was some rule that said I lose if I don't.
