3 months after the war with Oregon, Mr. Christ held a summit with the current empress of mexico Azcaxochtzin. This summit will decide the future of both countries and their people. The following dialogue took place;
“Greetings empress”
“Mr. Christ to what do we owe this pleasure.”
“Empress Esmeralda Ive come to discuss the proposal”
“My aren't you a bold one, calling me that name my face. So tell me Mr. Christ what is your proposal”
“To be blunt Esmeralda I want your country to join the United States.”
“What makes you think we’d agree to such an outlandish request?”
“Because if you don't then your country's fate shall be the same as Oregon.”
Silence…
“So it is true then, you committed a genocide under the guides of self-defense”
At this, Mr. Christ simply smiled.
“I would prefer for your people not to have to experience a similar fate. Now then will you join the United States willingly or not”
“Tell me mr christ what will my position be if we join the United States”
“You'd be a newly appointed theorist and your word would be law.”
“I refuse”
At this, Mr. Christ's smile grew even larger as if he wanted this outcome.
“Can I ask why?”
“I refuse to let anyone rule over me.”
“Then unfortunately I'll have no choice but to go to war with you.”
“Guards I want his head!”
Mr. Christ takes off and as the guards come after him he removes his neatly buttoned shirt to reveal a bomb vest. The guards stop in their tracks.
“Did you think I'd come unprepared?” I have enough explosives here to level the building.”
At this, the empress simply laughs.
“Fine, fine you may leave, but I will have your head for this.”
“Maybe someday”
At this, Mr. Christ takes off in his jet.

Frauncia

[Rolls - 1 - 12)

"Monsiheuer Eudes, you're on in 30."

"Meurcei, Alix." Eudes St. Claureant, one of the primary faces and voices on the televisions and car radios across Rouenne and the surrounding areas, stood looking over himself in the mirror. This report would certainly bring great fear to the people of the Empire. But, the duty of the humble reporter was one he did not intend to shirk, so he adjusted his tie and buttoned his jacket, and turned to face the people.

"Good evening, people of Frauncia, it is once again Eudes St. Claureant reporting on the events of the day. In Paris, a dramatic turn of events, as the city is witnessing widespread protests as citizens express their discontent over legislation recently passed in regards to purchasing alcohol on Sundays. Two groups have risen in regards to this legislation: The Parisian Temperance League, a Catholic Organization, and the Association of Industrial Laborers in Paris, have come to blows. The former believes that the legislation is necessary for the moral standing of the nation, whereas the latter believes it is the right of the worker to have a nice glass of wine with their evening meal, and are demanding a repeal of the legislation, Police presence is heavy, with clashes reported between law enforcement and demonstrators. We will continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates as events unfold. In a major development out of the technology industry, several tech giants are under the microscope as antitrust investigations are launched by regulatory bodies. The companies facing scrutiny include Le Pomme, Jaspier, Ponmanteau Electrics, Grapevine and 79 other companies. The investigations are centered around allegations of monopolistic practices and anti-competitive behavior. Experts argue that these investigations could reshape the landscape of the tech industry, potentially leading to significant regulatory changes. The accusations range from stifling competition to unfair business practices that disadvantage smaller players in the market. Representatives from Le Pomme and Grapevine have stated that they will cooperate fully with the investigations, asserting their commitment to fair competition, but there has been radio silence from the others. This is certain to affect the stock market and investors are likely to have a lot to play for in the coming months. Our business correspondent, Jerume Bellamounte, will provide more in-depth analysis later in the program. As we analyze the situation in the Antilles from our studio, reports from the ground in Santo Domingo paint a picture of stark resistance by the citizens of the city, as well as the Federation's military." Eudes pauses, clearing his throat. "It appears that an assault on the port city has been "substantially repelled without fail," and the Frauncaise Navy has retreated. The Antillean government has strongly denounced the invasion, labeling it as a flagrant violation of national sovereignty. International reactions have been swift, with the Castelian Federation mounting its own assault on Cuba. The situation on the ground is fluid, with sporadic clashes reported between Frauncaise forces and local resistance groups aided by the Antillean Armed Forces. As the international community closely monitors what is exactly unfolding. We will continue to bring you live updates and in-depth analysis as this unprecedented situation continues to develop. That's all we have for now. When we come back, a report directly from the Minister l'Etat will be given. Good evening."

Eudes sighed, and beelined for the dressing room. Anyone could predict that there would be national outrage at the present failure of the armed forces. Eudes was so sick of people being upset at him for these negative reports. He was just the messenger, after all. It's not like he has any say in what goes on thousands of miles away. Regardless, he would still be the punching bag. He got to his room and locked the door, ignoring the knocks of Alix and his secretary, and uncorked a bottle of champagne. He sipped from the bottle directly, staring blankly at the wall. He wondered how his husband was doing, considering both the worry he had for him, and balancing the guilt he felt from his actions the night before he left. He sat back in his chair and closed his eyes. It would be a long evening.

200 km west of Havana

[Rolls = 8-10]

A week following the meeting among the generals of Kynor the first squadron were en route to Havana. The men aboard were eager to gain some glory for the Empire and expected this war to be nothing more than a little adventure. Reality set in midway through the fleet's journey as they met a West Indian squadron stationed 200 km from Havana. Given the circumstances of the Castelian's and Fraunchaise's dual invasions of the island nation the West Indians strengthened the naval security for the waters surrounding their capital. Both naval forces were shown to have near equal force but as the day turned to night the force of Kynor was ultimately unable to break through the defenses of the West Indian navy. With much shame, the fleet turned back to Cancun after their poor showing against the West Indians on this day. This embarrassment was quick to be overshadowed by an even greater blunder.

San Antonio de los Baños Airfield

[Rolls = 13-19]

As the Kynoran fleet made a poor showing in the waters of northwest Cuba, the air force would fail at its objectives in western Cuba. The San Antonio de los Baños Airfield was the West Indies' principal air base, an early attack on the part of Kynor could've ensured Kynoran air dominance in the western portion of Cuba. The air force disembarked from Merida's air base early in the morning. The men involved also shared the initial optimistic outlook as their naval counterparts thinking that this would be a easy victory. The anti-aerial defenses of the West Indies proved to be more capable than Kynor's men this day however. The KAF at the end of the day only inflicted minimal damage against the airfield that wasn't enough to cripple the WIAF. Meanwhile, the West Indians managed to down 2 aircrafts. These back-to-back failures are sure to worsen morale in upcoming assaults against the West Indies. The Empire can only pray that these embarrassments don't prove to be a bad omen for further disasters.

Mr. Christ started this war fully knowing his country's reputation would be dragged through the mud, for he did not care. To him, all that matters is the mission, which in this case is the conquest of Mexico. The Americans started strong starting an Assault on Dallas Texas pushing deep within enemy lines. Mr. Christ believes Texas is the easiest target for the United States due to it bordering the US and not being protected by the rockies. Thus it only makes sense to target them first. Of course, the people of Dallas Texas did push back a little but that all stopped when the American military started killing citizens in retaliation.

Washington DC, United States

Magnus looked outside the window of his jet and down onto the American countryside. So this is the United States of America. Ever since ascending to the presidency with the promise combat a virus which plagued America throughout the 2020s, Matthew Christ, better known by the few remaining American media outlets and government internet sites as Mr. Christ had increasingly become more and more erratic in his decisions abroad as of late, with his sudden and unprovoked conquest and subsequent forced incorporation of Cascadia into the union. Though while America’s actions abroad have become increasingly belligerent, domestically—at least on paper—very little has seemingly changed, barring the significant and controversial repealing of the 22nd amendment. Though even with all of the controversy it garnered internationally, President Christ continues to be reelected by the people in landside majorities, but given how much the American state has cracked down on migration and tourism, the elections remain dubious as to their validity.

The pilot spoke over the intercom of the jet. “Attention sir, we will be landing in Washington DC shortly. Please secure any items you may have had lying around your seat and fasten your seatbelt.”

The Second Consul took a deep breath, attempting to ease his concerns. If the statement the rogue Mexican empress released about her meeting with the American president was to be believed, he would have to remain vigilant. And that was with home field advantage, and he was five thousand kilometers away from the mainland. As the plane landed, he noticed a group of figures standing off on the flightline, presumably the group sent to greet his delegation.

As the Magnus got off the plane Mr. Christ felt more and more excited, this was a big opportunity for America. The Castelians hold the key to our future and we must appease them and learn from them.

“Hello you must be Consul Rex, I have heard great things about you.”
Mr. Christ offers a firm handshake, as well as a warm smile to ease his worries.

The Second Consul shook the American president’s hand, returning the President’s friendly demeanor with his own. “I'd hope so. Though it’s a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance as well, President Christ.”

Mr. Christ speaks in a cold monotone voice,
“I assume you have heard stories of our great nation, is their any in particular you wish to discuss?”
It seems Mr. Christ is offering information to the Castelians as a form of trust. The validity of this information has yet to be seen.

Magnus paused for a brief moment. “Nothing that would warrant too much attention from this meeting. After all, we have much more important things to discuss than a few circulating rumors.”

Mr. Christs smile grew.
“Of course of course. Your very straight forward, I can admire that. Now then how about we ride in my limo and discuss this at Washington?”

“Certainly, President Christ.” Magnus gestures towards the airport. “Lead the way.”

---

As they exit the limos Mr. Christ seems almost pleased.
“Welcome to the white house, it is quite an honor to have you. Oh where are my manners? Shall I take your coat?”

The Second Consul looked at the President quizzically. “Thank you for the offer, but I’m quite alright. Now, shall we get started?”

Mr. Christ eyes look almost dead as he speaks in his emotionless voice.
“Yes your right we should begin to talk relations, I would humbly request a non-aggression pact with castel.”

The Second Consul considered Mr. Christ’s proposition carefully. “I would be inclined to agree, President Christ. It would be in the interest in both of our nations to ensure a continued and lasting peace between the Federation and the United States."

Mr christ smiled
“Good, good, now onto the trade agreement. I must apologize but We require a pat down before we may discuss this. You are free to put your fire arm on the table, fear not it will be returned after the pat down”

A single bead of sweat went down Magnus’ forehead. “Of course, I understand.” He reaches into his trench coat, and pulls out a semi-automatic pistol, setting it on the table next to one of the President’s guards. After that, he raises both of his hands, and waits for the guards to inspect him.

Mr. Christ noticed the sweat but was satisfied with the pat down.
“Thank you for obliging you can never be too careful. Now then would you be open to diplomatic trade routes correct?”

After receiving his pistol back, Magnus’ expression seemed to relax, and the Second Consul quickly put the firearm back into his coat. “Castel would be willing to open up commercial ties with the United States of America. What kind of agreement did you have in mind?”

Mr. Christ looks magnus dead in the eyes.
“Perhaps a trade route through our east coast?” It would be the most efficient route and safest route. We would be willing to open up the ports of Norfolk and Boston for trade."

“Excellent, I’ll relay your decision to the Directorate so we can work out the finer details on a later date... Was there anything else you would like to discuss with me?”

“No have a nice day, guards please escort him to his plane.”

The Castelian nods, stands up from his chair, and looks over at Mr. Christ. “And to you as well, President Christ. It is my hope that this meeting here today may fully cement the peace that has existed between our nations.” He then glances warily at the guards, but quickly follows them out of the room.

The pushback

the Mexicans were stubborn and strong, they refused to surrender. They stroke in the dead of night with a sneak attack catching the American troops' surprise. They then forced the American troops out of Plabo. This led to many lives being lost. The Mexicans have won this battle but will not win this war.

in Mr. Christ's office
Mr. Christ seems slightly agitated perhaps even saddened by his defeat in Plabo.
“Prepare for a counter-assault and get ready to deploy our newest weapons.”
Mr. Christ smiled as if he believed his latest plan was invincible
“Mr. Christ, are you sure this is a good idea?”
“You dare doubt me, secretary?”
“Of course not sir but this could take so many lives”
Mr. Christ looked the man dead in his eyes
“That the plan”

Tough Nut to Crack

Department of War

While the High Command expected the advance into Cuba to follow the results of the relatively decisive engagements of Castelian naval and air forces at the Cayman Trench and the subsequent skirmishes on the outskirts of Santiago de Cuba between auxiliary, army, and vanguard units against the Antillean forces scrambled to meet the Castelians, their hopes would be dashed by a decisive counter-offensive mounted by the Cuban defenders against the Castelians, stopping them right in their advance, and causing combat to devolve into house to house fighting as the Castelians were slightly driven back by the Antilleans, though they still managed to hold on to the port itself, keeping the door for reinforcements to be redirected from other parts of the Federation to reinforce the invasion force open. However, with the Frauncian withdrawal from the war, some have begun to question whether or not the Federation should continue the war against the Antillean government, though currently the Imperial Citadel remains outwardly committed to seeing the war to its conclusion. And with the Kynorian Junta’s entry into the war, Castel’s resolve has only seemed to dramatically increase, and after the first failed Kynorian assault on Havana, the Federation has dispatched much of its contingent of aircraft in its base of Jamaica to assist the Junta’s efforts in the west. But this would backfire when Castel, believing that the eastern air force was weak after encountering little to no Antillean aircraft in the battle between a squadron from the Castelian third fleet and the Antillean navy, would be completely blindsided when they attempted to alleviate their forces in Santiago de Cuba. Catching the large contingent of bombers with fighter escorts completely by surprise, the Antilleans launched a series of strikes against the outnumbered Castelians, with multiple Castelian bombers and fighters being shot down by dogged Antillean pilots. Nevertheless, they would eventually be forced to withdraw after the superior Castelian fighter jets managed to repulse the Antillean onslaught, and rained hellfire on Santiago de Cuba in retaliation, bombing many suspected key military targets in the northern areas of the city. Though the war is certainly far from over, the West Indies Federation can only hold out for so long.

Kynor

Fire from Heaven

Despite Kynor's failed assault against the West Indians in the previous week the Kynorans remained undeterred and would try another naval and aerial assault against the West Indians. The naval assault against Havana led to the same results from last week though with much heavier casualties on both sides. The West Indians once again showed their naval prowess over Kynor but their pyrrhic victory meant they weren't in a position to threaten Kynor's territorial waters.

While Kynor's navy still struggled, the air force was able to achieve Kynor's first victory in this conflict. The previous attack on the San Antonio de los Baños Airfield resulted in a humiliating loss for Kynor. This time however, as if fire were shot from the heavens, the air base was destroyed by the Kynoran air force thus crippling western Cuba's aerial capabilities for the remainder of the war. With this development the air force could now threaten Havana directly. The Castelians at this time would send direct assistance to the Kynorans with their air force. Both armies were able to coordinate effective air strikes against Havana, decimating the West Indian capital. With the skies of western Cuba effectively secured by the allied air force it's only a matter of time until the island's terrain is fully conquered.

IMPERIAL STATEMENT ON THE SITUATION IN THE WEST INDES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good evening,

It has come to my attention that the former colony of Hispaniola has put up a substantial defence to our invasion. Naturally, however, our troops have proven to be a hearty match for those fighters of our former colony. The situation remains a siege on the residence of the provincial leader, with small skirmishes here and there. There will be plenty of might to come from out soldiers, for they are born, bred, raised, and reared in the fiercest nation of all. They are the shining light that represents our nation's tenacity, they are the sword that is wielded by our nation, they are the very thing that keep us from being forgotten. Tomorrow, a construction and strengthening of those vital resources which our soldiers depend on will be undertaken. I finally wish to offer my cooperation with those nations also engaging in battle with the West Indes Federation, reaching the hand of Frauncia out in fraternity.

May God be with you all, and may you carry the glory of the Empire reside within you.

His Imperial Majesty, Impurier Alberte II Camoyse-Furtin

Berlin, German Empire

Kaiser Wilhelm VII sat reading in his study, the afternoon sun streaming in between the curtains and illuminating the room. The study was fairly small for the head of a nation such as the Zentralreich, a quaint room of ornate design with gold-trimmed mahogany columns at regular intervals along the walls outlining packed bookshelves of fictions, histories, biographies and philosophies. The Kaiser had always prided himself on being well-read, after all. Above the bookshelves hung grand portraits of many of Wilhelm VII’s predecessors: Wilhelm I, the Great, the first Kaiser of the united Germany, Wilhelm II, the Great, the man who made Germany the hegemon of Europe, Wilhelm III, the man who solidified that hegemony in the face of its greatest challenge, and Wilhelm IV, who piloted the Zentralreich into modernity and finished what his father had started. In the center of the room, facing toward its main entrance, was the Kaiser’s desk. On it lay a tall stack of documents, a tabletop radio, a laptop, and other personal clutter.

The Kaiser sat leaning back in his chair, his feet propped up on a velvet footstool underneath his desk, reading a recently-published alternate history story about an alternative version of Earth, but he really couldn’t make heads or tails of any of its content. First, the Zentralreich was completely misplaced, having seemingly traded Germany for Poland and Lithuania. Instead, the far eastern nation of Rubis mysteriously possessed the German lands. Droiden and Kyavan were both immensely larger than they had any right to be, as was Kynor, which was a hulking beast in the New World. On top of being misplaced in Europe, the Zentralreich had a large colonial possession in South America in a completely arbitrary location, on opposite ends of the continent from Klein-Venedig! Perhaps most puzzlingly, the nations of Reinkalistan and Vaktaria were both ripped from their respective lands and placed on impossibly fantastical continents in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Furthermore, while Vaktaria’s government was largely intact, the Reinkalistani nation was shockingly split between a capitalist democracy and a hardline communist dictatorship.

While he couldn’t possibly understand what the author was thinking when writing the story, Wilhelm couldn’t say that he disliked the narrative that had been crafted. However, when he reached the end of the book, Wilhelm couldn’t help but feel as though the story was unfinished. As the book came to its end, many key players from the beginning had disappeared from the narrative, with nations like South Reinkalistan, Russia Major, Vaktaria, and even the Zentralreich barely even acting in the final chapters. As the Kaiser set the book down, he couldn’t help but be disappointed in how the book seemed to fizzle out, but he knew that at least he had enjoyed the time before the ending. Perhaps, the Kaiser thought, the author would one day continue his writings and bring back the nations that had been cut out in the final act. The thought made the man smile, but he knew it wasn’t near likely such a thing would happen.

Wilhelm looked around his study, at the documents on his desk, listening to his radio playing some of his favorite reading music, and sighed to himself. The day was only just beginning, and now he could procrastinate no longer.

“I have so much work to do.”

A Mostly Successful Landing

--

Havana, West Indies Federation

Following the shared success in taking the Havana skies by the Kynoran and Castelian air forces, the Castelians would send a squadron to the waters of Havana. The navy of the West Indies had proven to be a massive obstacle in this campaign, they inherited a navy unmarred from the fall of Kynor's Empire. While they were victorious over the last 2 Kynoran assaults they didn't have time to recover from the losses they sustained from these battles. The final assault by the combined armada of Kynor and Castel sunk much of the West Indian navy and left their capital unguarded from the sea. The Kynorans would proceed to send in its ground forces into Havana's harbor successfully taking the historic center of Havana which contained the seat of government for the West Indies Federation, though the capitol building was evacuated before the capture. Kynor's forces would try following up their recent string of successes by attacking the fortress of La Cabaña on the eastern side of the Havana harbor but this force would be repelled by the West Indian forces stationed there. Noting that eastern Havana still retained the ability to defend itself, Kynor's rear admiral ordered a naval bombardment against eastern Havana. Though Eastern Havana still remains in West Indian hands it has been greatly damaged by these bombardments leaving them more vulnerable to future assaults by the Kynorans.

Reactions back home

This war has been a rollercoaster for much of the Kynoran populace at home. News of the first two engagements were upsetting to say the least with the Junta putting martial law into effect in the event of potential rioting. Luckily, outside of the second failure at engaging the West Indian navy, Kynor's recent performance showed more promise. The Junta would remain popular among Kynor's populace. Opinions on the Castelian Federation have become very positive among Kynor as a result of their cooperation. Kynor had never much acknowledged the Castelians to their south as South America was of little importance in comparison to North America. However, with Kynor losing its previous allies after the fall of the Golden Throne and the war against Mexico it would be wise to establish closer relations with this fellow American power.

Department of War

Routed. With joint Kynorian-Castelian air and naval forces finally wresting control of the sky and sea from the Antillean military, and with the Kynorian invasion of Havana well underway, the Castelians resumed their campaign in Santiago de Cuba, both to finally secure the city and to simultaneously put pressure on the already beleaguered Cuban defenders by opening up a second front. Starting with a renewed air assault aided by Kynorian air detachments sent south to assist the Castelians after their narrow victory against local Antillean fighters, the joint force smashed through the Antilleans, downing multiple fighters as well as severely damaging their air base at Santiago de Cuba. After securing near total air superiority in the south-east of the island, the Castelians would again attempt to finally expel the remaining Antillean defenders from the city, with mixed results. Opting to flush out the defenders with auxiliary units mobilized from the Federation's overseas territories, Castelian forces suffered heavy casualties as the relatively untrained auxiliaries clashed with the resolute defenders in the urban heart of the city. After drawing the defenders out, the more elite vanguard and regular units were deployed to assist the Castelian forces already fighting the Antillean defenders, shattering what remained of the West Indies army in Santiago de Cuba, and finally allowing the Castelians to secure the remainder of the city. With Santiago de Cuba secured and Havana under heavy siege by Kynorian forces, the situation for the West Indies forces in Cuba has become ever more bleak. Alongside that, encouraged by the Impurier of Frauncia declaration of the Empire’s commitment to the war in the West Indies despite some grumblings from the populace and media, the High Command gave the go-ahead for a small contingent of fighters to be dispatched to the eastern theater of the conflict to assist the Frauncians in their continued clashes with the Antilleans in the air, and to finally secure a landing in Hispaniola.

For the Empire!

Vladivostok, Rubis

The winter was steadily winding down, but it didn’t mean it was completely over. Snow in March was a common occurrence in the Far East and on this March morning it was piling up. Despite this, the streets were piling up with commuters headed to work. The harbor was already filled up with people and cargo, with shiphands and dock workers helping unload crates off of the hundreds of ships that came into the city every day. Working in the snow wasn’t optimal for both parties, but they didn’t have much of a choice in the matter, anyway to provide for themselves and their families they’d take it, despite the weather.

Among the busy people around the dock, two men walking down the harbor seemed out of place. The men were both wearing black overcoats over their suits, trying to battle the harsh weather that had been raging throughout the previous night. It wasn’t unusual for people to take a stroll down the harbor and get a look at the ships coming in and out of port, but men wearing high class coats and suits was something that rarely ever happened. The two men continued their walk as workers looked up at them, then back down to focus on their work.

“I’m not so sure about this proposal. It would put my career on the line.” The man on the right side says, looking at the man walking next to him with a concerned look on his face.

“It’s not like your job pays that much to begin with, what I’m offering you is double what you make in a year, tell me that doesn’t sound like a nice deal to you.” The other man said with a smirk on his face. He reached into his coat pocket and took out a checkbook. He waved it in the other man's face and gave another smile. The other man looked at the checkbook, gave a sigh and shook his head.

“And how do you know how much I’m getting paid? If I remember correctly, you’re not supposed to.” The Duma representative reminded the man, giving him a suspicious look. The man just laughs.

“I have friends in high places, my friend. I’m in the business of making money, I can afford to know these kinds of things. I am going to ask one more time, are you in or out?” The businessman’s tone got more serious as he started to get more and more annoyed with the representatives' hesitance.

“It’s public land we’re talking about, I can’t let you freely mine there just because your men found gold.” The representative sighs and shakes his head.

“I’ll give you a percentage of the gold we find, plus the check.” The businessman says, as the head of the representative perks up. The businessman notices and starts to smile. He reaches out for a handshake and the representative reciprocates. The businessman pats the representative on the back and laughs.

“Pleasure doing business with you, and don’t worry, you’ll get the money.”

Tooth and Nail

---

Department of War

Though some had their doubts on the coalition’s ability to subjugate the West Indies Federation, especially after the humiliating defeats inflicted by their armed forces against the armies of Frauncia and Kynor, they have since been put to rest with the near complete obliteration of the Antillean air force and the crushing losses faced by the Antillean navy. In the western theater of the conflict, the Castelians and Kynorians continue their slog across Cuba from Santiago de Cuba and Havana respectively. Having secured total control of the skies after the decisive series of engagements between the Castelian and Kynorian air forces against their Antillean counterparts at the gates of Santiago de Cuba, the Castelians have since resumed the series of devastating raids on the Cuban countryside, shelling both civilian and military infrastructure alike to hinder the Antillean’s ability to counter the Castelian advance, and to erode their morale. In both respects, the Castelians generally failed to achieve their objectives. While having severely weakening the Antilleans’ defensive positions around the city, Castelian ground forces, largely consisting of undertrained auxiliary units, suffered heavy casualties as they launched a breakthrough offensive against the Cuban army surrounding the city. But with the combined pressure of the aircraft pounding their positions, as well as the wave after wave of Castelians pouring out of the city, the Cubans were eventually overwhelmed, and forced to retreat from the area, with what remained of the army withdrawing to Guantanamo bay, and regrouping with forces further west, conceding a significant portion of the lower half of the island to the Imperial Castelian Army. From there, the army would lay siege to their primary war goal: Guantanamo Bay. Either way, with the lack of any significant Antillean naval forces in the Cayman Trench, the units in Guantanamo Bay have been effectively encircled, and all the Castelians realistically have to do is wait out the Antilleans until they inevitably break. Simultaneously, the remaining Castelian forces would move to secure all the territory conceded by the Antillean army, but were eventually checked by the Cuban defenders at Las Tunas.

Through the Isthmus

---

Department of War

While battered they were from the relentless advance of the combined forces of the coalition of Castel, Frauncia and Kynor, the Antilleans were still determined to see their assailants finally driven from their home. Having been pushed back from their strongpoints at Santiago de Cuba, the Antilleans reorganized their defense around the Isthmus at Las Tunas, and managed to keep the forces of Castel from advancing further west into the country. Nevertheless, assisted by elite units from the Castelian Vanguard, the Castelians began their assault on the Antillean positions on the Isthmus, shelling their positions with volley after volley of artillery. With the renewed initiative, the army tore deep into the Cuban defense, seizing Las Tunas, and splitting their forces in two. From there, the army would launch a two-pronged offensive, driving the West Indies army from their hastily set up fortifications, and falling back further down the island to another defensive line based around the city of Ciego de Avila. Though their victories in the west continued to remain decisive, Castel’s siege of Guantanamo Bay proved to be a rather embarrassing disaster for the Castelian armed forces, the first major one they had suffered in the conflict. With their successes in the west, the army was confident they would be able to crush the remaining pocket of resistance in the east against the encircled defenders of the city. Having already obliterated their naval presence near the city, and dominated the skies through multiple engagements with the West Indies Air Force over control of the air, the High Command believed the battle to seize their primary war objective would be swift and decisive, however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Delegating the role of assaulting the city to a joint force of mostly Auxiliary units with a few regulars, their assault on the city was decisively repulsed, and the Castelians suffered a staggering amount of casualties, most of them coming from the undertrained auxiliary battalions. Their subsequent air bombardment wasn’t much more successful. In retaliation for the near slaughter of Castelian forces in the first battle of Guantanamo Bay, the local command overseeing the invasion hastily ordered for the city to be bombarded by the air force. Not anticipating the potential from an attack from the ground---especially with the near destruction of the force at the battle of Santiago de Cuba---and with their guard down after achieving near total air superiority, the relatively underdefended bombers were hit with salvos of flak artillery from the Cuban defenders below, shooting down a couple aircraft in the process. However, though they inflicted heavy casualties on the Castelians comparative to their own, given their current encirclement, it is unlikely they will be able to put up much of a fight for much longer. While not nearly as severe as the clashes that took place over Santiago de Cuba, multiple officers overseeing land and air operations in Cuba were sacked for their negligence, and were subsequently replaced. Having brought in new officers from other parts of the Federation, Castel has also announced the deployment of several thousand more troops to Cuba, alongside another squadron of aircraft. With the fresh reinforcements, and knowing the Antillean armed forces in Cuba are already on their last legs, the High Command believes victory over the West Indies Federation is finally at hand.

The hallways of the Indian state building glowed dimly as MP Manu Jagur walked down to the end of the hallway. At the back of the hall was the only room in the building that was illuminated by a bright light. Two men stand in front of the closed door that leads to the president's office. Manu walks up to the two security guards and shows them his Parliamentary ID. The two men scan the ID and let Manu in the office. Inside the office is a lone man engrossed in his work, not even realizing that the door to his office had even opened. The door closes behind Manu, but the man sitting at his desk still doesn’t look up at the man who just entered his office. Manu rolls his eyes and sighs. He knocks on the door and the man looks up. He smiles, gets out of his chair, and walks over to Manu. The two men embrace and sit down at the older man's desk.

“So, how have you been, son?” President Pirthee Jagur asked, as he pushes his work to the side.

“I’m fine dad. Sorry that the kids couldn’t come to see you, they’re too busy with school to fly four hours here apparently.” Manu says with a frown, but Pirthee laughs it off. Manu sighs again and sits back in his chair, seemingly mulling something over quietly. Pirthee takes notice and takes a cigar out of his desk. Pirthee puts the cigar in front of his son, but Manu looks down in polite disgust.

“You know I don’t smoke dad.” Manu reminds his father, but Pirthee shrugs and takes the cigar off the desk

“Hey, it helps calm my nerves, I guess we all have our different coping mechanisms. But tell me son, why did you really come and visit me? I know you’re not the social kind Manu.” Pirthee said, knowing his son wouldn’t willingly visit him unless it was an emergency. He wanted to give his son space after he moved out to pursue his education, but the famed general knew something was up with his son.

“You weren’t overseeing Parliament like usual dad, Rhees was. This is the first time you’ve missed a session in god knows how many years, and it was a bit concerning.” Manu said, looking at his father with slight fear. Pirthee sighs and gives another weak laugh.

“I wasn’t feeling well today, so yes, I did let Rhees oversee Parliament for the day. I’ll be back next session, barring any sudden health concerns that affect me.” Pirthee said with a faint smile, as he took the cigar he offered Manu and lit it up.

“It’s getting worse isn’t it?” Manu asked with more visible concern on his face. He puts his head down and his hands on his face. Pirthee puts his hand on his son's shoulder as Manu looks up at his father.

“It was always inevitable son, death will always get us in the end anyway. The diagnosis never stopped me from doing my work before, and it won’t now, no matter how weak it makes me.” Pirthee seemed proud that we wanted to continue his work despite his health rapidly failing the past few months. But something was still on his mind.

“I haven’t chosen a party successor yet.” Pirthee said, as Manu was visibly taken aback. The young man shook his head in disbelief.

“How? You’ve had over twenty years to figure this out and you still haven’t?” Pirthee gave another smile and started to silently chuckle.

“I guess this is what happens when you put a career military man in this position.” Pirthee joked as he started coughing. Manu gives the old man tissues as he contains the coughs.

“You know, I was considering you.” The old man said, taking Manu aback again.

“My son, you have become a politician well deserving of your position and have made me a very proud father. But I cannot bear to give you the position that sucked the life out of me and my predecessor. Maybe, maybe it’s time to let the people decide for once.”

East Winnipeg, Dominion of Canada.

Rachel looked down from her vantage point atop an old shopping mall, watching the few construction crews that remained move about as small lights below. The British half of the city had been under a reconstruction programme for over a year now, and most of the traces of the war had been repaired by the tireless workers. It wasn't all gone, though--even now, and especially near the border with West Winnipeg at the limits of the advance in the Second Battle of Winnipeg, you could still find networks of trenches, decommissioned machine gun nests, and the occasional hulk of broken-down armour. Rachel knew someone who had found a misfired Russian rocket shell; they didn't make it, but that prompted the Dominion government to evacuate half the city and redouble the reconstruction efforts. There were probably still hundreds of mines and unexploded shells laid down near that perimeter, but nobody dared go near that border save for a patrol of soldiers manning the border into the Republic of Canada. Ever since the election of the NCPP, that place had been... strange, to say the least.

No point in dwelling on this, Rachel thought to herself. This was probably the last time she would be coming to this tower; the workers had already began demolishing the unsalvageable skyscrapers close to the border that had been hit by a few stray shells. This one was relatively safe, but it would probably be repurposed into a commercial building soon. Plenty of big companies, largely fronts and subsidaries of the Big Four, were coming to reestablish themselves in the restored Dominion. That required plenty of office space, and luckily for them, hundreds of new buildings in the city that was once the Dominion's wealthiest were now vacant for the taking. Like vultures they had swept up the corpses of the Canadian corporations that had been purged by Wilson's militia and then taken under an emergency command by the military, and now that the Dominion was back in business, many of these companies went bankrupt, and were bought out and restructured. Rachel would know; her family's primary source of income pre-war had been her father's engineering position in a medium-sized company building microprocessors for Insignia. Insignia, with the government, subsidized relocation and evacuation for civilians near the front; her family had then moved to the British Isles while the war raged. Post-war, they returned to Winnipeg--only to find a city nearly completely converted into a military installment. They watched the Dominion government set up provisional quarters in less shelled-out buildings, and then slowly begin rebuilding civilian districts--Rachel's family home was in one of the first districts to be rebuilt.

Life had returned mostly to normal now, and the aftershock of the war was fading. As Rachel climbed down from the rooftop, she recalled the letter of promotion from Insignia sent to her father that she saw in the living room before she left. Although the seat of the government had moved away from Winnipeg and into Toronto, mostly because the city was split down the front line of the British and Russian armies, Winnipeg still contained a lot of infrastructure that the Dominion government wanted to harness. The fire department, a few police stations... not the former Dominion Parliament building, though, which was located in the western end of the city that had been given to the Canadian state in the treaty.

Rachel picked up her pace towards her home. She could hear, in the distance, the sound of cars driving down a street. It must be a patrol van, she thought--though the martial law had long been lifted, the early curfew along the border had not, and it was a misdemeanor at best to be out at this hour.

------

That was not a patrol van. In fact, it was the personal motorcade of the Governor General of the Dominion of Canada--returning, finally, after a long day of work. In his private life, Richard William Laurent was a party-goer, a womanizer, a symbol of the decadence and excess of the Old Dominion. His lavish lifestyle was supported by his day job of being an indispensible mouthpiece of the elites--specifically one John Wilson of Obsidian Corporation. In that capacity he was Director of the Marketing Department, and later Chief Operating Officer, though his role in the company was soon ended by a schism between his own vision for the company and John's ambitions. Richard decided to take a leave of abscence to his residence in Britannia proper--and then the Canadian Revolution happened, and flights to Canada were replaced by troop-transporting frigates. He watched as John's flaws got the better of his Revolution, and as the entire revolutionary project burned down, Richard began to make a contingency plan, something to ensure he wouldn't be brought down by the crashing and burning husk of Obsidian, and his connection to it.

In that regard, he sought out the protection of his former rivals. They were happy to take in what had become a middle-aged man who was recently unemployed, on the condition that he make himself useful to them. Where the military saw an endless insurgency in the year-long operation, and where the media may have seen terrorists or atrocity, Kalisto Defense International only saw business. The new Dominion of Canada, sure to be re-established, would need guns. Lots of them. Kalisto happened to have enough inventory to arm the entire Ministry of National Security three times over--not much they could do with these apart from rent out even more storage warehouses to leave them in. Did they sell? Absolutely, but who could turn down that blue line on the end-of-quarter report going up?

That was where Richard Laurent came in. He was to make the new Dominion even more conducive to business than it used to be--turn the entire place into a corporate playground if he had to. In some capacity this was already what he was doing, just on a much, much larger and nationwide scale. He had just gotten out of a business meeting with another national business representative--another contract signed over his favourite whiskey was always a good night. Things were, for the first time, looking up, not just for himself, but perhaps for the entire country.

However you wanted to look at KDI's new stranglehold over wide sectors of the Canadian economy, nobody could deny that they were at least effective. Millions of Canadians had been put out of the work as the Dominion went under martial law--half of the post-war year had been spent rectifying that unemployment problem. Maybe you could call it anticompetitive, but there was already no competing with the Big Four. Maybe you could call it greed, but that was obvious from the very beginning. The Kalisto executives weren't running a charity, they were running a business. Or perhaps, worst of all, you could call them unethical.

But they had given ethics up years ago.

A New Hope:

The War Continues, as the US deploys an air strike going across from Texas to California, they specifically targeted resource centers and in doing so successfully dealt a critical blow to their ability to sustain themselves and weaken them enough for a quick invasion across the borders. This was done in hopes of crippling the Mexicans for a short period while the US invaded with ground troops. Reuniting with troops inside Texas and California they committed a brutal assault taking the Mexicans by surprise with how quickly they organized. The troops were targeting and slaughtering all combatants while “trying” to avoid civilians. As the US gained ground they started deploying artillery, and from there they would continue the onslaught killing almost all combatants that would get in their way. With very few casualties the US was successful in pushing back Mexicans out of heavily populated areas of the states. They would then target communications and cell towers. A small faction of US troops would go of course and target the cell towers in hopes of blocking communication with the homeland, unfortunately, the Mexicans were stubbornly defending cell towers and pushed US forces away from them. This meant the Mexicans were likely to quickly receive reinforcements. While the main troops were busy with the slaughter and fighting for control of communication, the US deployed multiple units of tanks to seize trade routes. While met with large resistance the US was ultimately successful in occupying and slaughtering parts of the states, namely trade routes and military occupiers respectively. Falling back toward their homeland the Mexicans began to regroup and plan a counter-offensive. Setting up hastily constructed fortifications to hope they could stand their ground in the USA's next assault.

The Americans strike back:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As time marches on, so do the Americans. Utilizing a combination of air strikes and EMPS, the Americans successfully managed to shut down almost every cell tower in Nuevo Mexico as well as Alta California. This meant the Mexicans no longer had contact with their homeland and due to the recent occupation of their supply routes, they were also low on resources. As the Mexicans waste away, the Americans continue to thrive in the onslaught of bloodshed. The Mexicans were dying left and right and were left with very little hope. With continuous utilization of their remaining tanks still on the ground the Americans tear down the hastily constructed fortifications made by the enemy along Alta California's border. The American tanks would go on to destroy any Mexican combatants even near the proximity of the border. Due to the surprise of this attack and lack of communications the Mexican government can only sit back and watch as the Americans are removing more and more of their people from their land. It appears as if their desperation knows no bounds as some of the Mexicans have attempted to take soldiers and citizens near the border between America and Alta California hostage, but unbeknownst to them, the American people are strong. The citizens wiped out any and all Mexicans who attempted to take them hostage, with the help of minor military aid of course. The situation is very difficult for the enemy, with The US Having successfully removed them from Nuevo Mexico the Americans continue to destroy attempted blockades. It seems that there's very little hope for the Mexicans. The armed forces of the Mexicans are low in both morale and resources and with the Mexican government unable to help it seems almost all hope of keeping the remaining land has been lost.

Barreling Down the Island

Department of War

Having replaced the recently sacked the Castelian military officers who oversaw the ground invasion in the West Indies for their incompetence with the siege of Guantanamo Bay, the new commanders got straight to work, allocating new reinforcements to their siege of Guantanamo Bay, as well as diverting more experienced reinforcements west to capitalize on the Antillean’s collapsing defenses, and potentially close in on their sieged capital of Havana. In both respects, the Castelians would see crushing victories as the West Indies Federation finally buckled under the weight of the Castelian war machine. Though having managed to outlast the Castelians besieging their city far longer than most had expected them too, the remnants of the Army of Santiago de Cuba could only hold out so long in the totally encircled city of Guantanamo. While morale in the city remained relatively stable despite the miserable conditions, especially with their forces managing to score a decisive victory against the Combined Army, it would soon wane as the Castelians continued to tighten their stranglehold of the city. Early in the morning, the Antillean army would be completely taken by surprise as they woke to the wailing of sirens with the sighting of numerous Castelian aircraft descending on the city. In an act of retribution, the Castelians indiscriminately bombed the city, nearly completely obliterating what remained of their anti-aircraft array and other military installations, as well as reducing multiple sections of the city to rubble. Following the bombing, the Castelians would resume their ground assault of the city with repeated salvos of artillery, turning what remained of the makeshift defenses that dotted the city outskirts to dust. From there, the Castelian army moved in, and swept away the remnants of the Antillean Eastern Army with minimal resistance. A few hours later, the last of the defenders of Guantanamo Bay finally surrendered to advancing Castelian forces, effectively ending combat in the eastern theater of Cuba. To their west, the Imperial Castelian Army continued to wear down the series of fortifications erected around the city of Ciego de Avila. Following their successes to the east, the Castelians redirected all available airpower in the theater on the thin defensive lines made by the Cubans. Like what happened in Guantanamo, the lack of airpower after the joint Kynorian-Castelian campaigns in the skies ensured Castelian aircraft could strike at their positions with near impunity, and they would do just that. Castelian bombers would rain hellfire on their positions throughout the narrow strip of land the Antillean West Army had fortified. Their defenses utterly leveled, the ICA would move in around the city itself, briefly laying siege to Ciego de Avila before the Antillean forces there surrendered as well. The Antilleans would yet again have to organize a hasty retreat further down the island, assembling what remained of the West Indies Army of Cuba near the city of Matanzas for what seems like an attempt by the Antillean army to make a seeming final stand against the onslaught of the Imperial Castelian Army. Though severely battered, the Antilleans have shown a propensity to hold fast in the face over overwhelming odds, but as the vice continues to close in on both sides of the West Indies capital, victory is now all but assured.

For the Empire!

The united chinese states

For the longest time, China was under the boot of foreign powers, unable to realize its nation's vast potential. After the collapse of the Syndicalists States of China with the end of the Second World War, the more right elements of the Koumintang seized control of China, and with their ascent a new government rose: The United Chinese States. The UCS was a federation of states based on the capitalist and democratic principles of the Koumintang, though the new government also incorporated some liberal western ideas into the government as well. China entered the twenty-first century a rejuvenated and prosperous country, ready to take its place among the great powers of the world. However, there were still obstacles in the way of their aspirations. The late nineteenth and twentieth century saw both the imperial and later syndicalist governments lose major territories to ravenous great powers seeking to capitalize on Chinese weakness. By the end of the twentieth century, tens of millions of Chinese lay outside of the borders of the UCS, in the various concession ports occupied by foreign powers, and in Manchuria, a territory amputated off the Chinese state in the very early twentieth century by the Russians, which would eventually come to be controlled by the Far Eastern Republic of Rubis. With all these hurdles to overcome, the Chinese state would need allies, and they would eventually get one in the form of the Castelian Federation.

While in fact a country that participated in the mutilation of China during the twentieth century, the Chinese saw the Castelians as the best possible partner to cooperate with, both due to their status as a global superpower and their relatively minimal holdings in Asia compared to the other great powers in the region. The Castelians, eager to increase their influence in the Pacific, leapt at the opportunity to strengthen their ties with the up-and-coming great power of Asia, as well as finally ensure the security of their disconnected holdings in the Pacific. Ultimately, negotiations saw the Chinese cede the island of Hainan to the Castelians in exchange for military and economic cooperation between the two states, as well as the right for Chinese vessels to travel through the Castelian pacific territories’ territorial waters. Though arguably the most important, it secured Castelian military support in the event that China sought to reclaim their former territory of Manchuria, which was currently under the control of the Far Eastern Republic of Rubis. Soon after the secret talks concluded, China began preparing its military for a campaign to seize the entire Ruban territory. But with the onset of war in the Caribbean between a coalition of great powers and the West Indies Federation, a bloc that included Castel, the Federation’s leadership soon became keen to ensure that a conflict between China and Rubis did not break out, and moved in to mediate a compromise between the Chinese and Rubans.

Castelian diplomats were then hastily dispatched over to Vladivostok and Nanjing to negotiate a settlement between the two parties. Eventually, the Rubans agreed to the ceding of Chinese majority regions: Jehol, Liaoning, and significant portions of the territories of Liaopeh and Antung. The Rubans would also cede their Chinese concession port of Macau. Though initially conceived as an alliance of convenience, these diplomatic victories have strengthened the ties between the United Chinese States and the Federation, and laid the groundwork for further cooperation between the two states. But overall, with the reincorporation of the Chinese Manchuria back into the UCS, to many Chinese, the process towards rectifying the century of humiliation which the Chinese nation endured for so many years had finally begun.

Return of the Mexicans:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Americans having conquered Texas have moved their sights on California, deploying 2 military units to conquer it. The first unit is a combination of troops from the initial assault that laid dormant in California as well as new troops with fresh supplies and rations. These soldiers attempted to push further into California but the Mexicans, having had time to prepare, were able to completely repel the American troops and even push them deep ON to the rockies. They were relentless and killed a lot of American troops with nearly half of them being killed, the other half steadily moving up the mountain. The second assault was by sea with the United States utilizing its navy to attack the coast. At first it seemed the US was going to dominate but the Mexicans had prepared many ships in defensive positions near the coast. The Mexican navy started by using artillery to bomb the American ships then they blocked off the remaining ships' escape. It was another massacre as the Mexicans had more ships as well as home field advantage. The assault in the eastern states wasn't much better as the Mexicans and Americans were slaughtering each other, neither side could gain ground over the other. It was a bloodbath with no winner, everyone lost. This along with the defeat in California was the first real loss in this war the Americans faced and as such they decided to pull a more “unique” tactic as a counter in their next assault.

Collapse of the West Indies Federation

---

Department of Foreign Affairs

Their capital encircled, most of Cuba occupied by the Kynorians and Castelians, and with the Federation rapidly closing in on their capital, the Antillean government found themselves between a rock and a hard place. However, they weren’t anxious to end the war. The Castelo-Kynorian coalition, which had jointly suffered hundreds of casualties, both wanted to see a swift conclusion to the conflict. So, with no realistic prospect of overcoming the odds presented against them, Havana reached out to Castel and Esquipulas in the hopes of bringing an end to the war between them. Recognizing that there was no peace agreement without the total loss of Cuba, the West Indies government had one term: allow them and their remaining forces to be allowed to leave Cuba and merge with the state of Santo Domingo. Still holding strong in their sister state, who’s naval forces had only recently been breached by the Frauncian navy, the West Indies government believed they would have a better shot at being able to hold out in Santo Domingo than attempt to cling on to Havana and what remained of their Cuban holdings. The Kynorians, whose primary war aim was simply the reclamation of Cuba, accepted the Antilleans peace proposal. The Castelians likewise accepted, but demanded Gonave island from the state of Hispaniola alongside their previous demands of Guantanamo Bay. Though initially hesitant, the Antillean government eventually conceded, realizing they had little other alternatives. Throughout the island of Cuba, an uneasy quiet soon replaced the deafening sound of artillery and continuous bombing raids from the Coalition’s combined air forces. As per the treaty, what remained of the West Indies national government and the state government of Cuba were escorted out of Havana, and were allowed safe passage to Santo Domingo. Honoring the agreement between their two nations, the Federation slowly began to withdraw to their new territory of Guantanamo, relinquishing their occupied areas of Cuba to the Kynorian Empire. With the devastating conflict finally coming to a close, reconstruction of the western Antillies can finally begin, and through that, usher in a new era of cooperation between the Empire and the Federation.

For the Empire!
