200 km west of Havana

[Rolls = 8-10]

A week following the meeting among the generals of Kynor the first squadron were en route to Havana. The men aboard were eager to gain some glory for the Empire and expected this war to be nothing more than a little adventure. Reality set in midway through the fleet's journey as they met a West Indian squadron stationed 200 km from Havana. Given the circumstances of the Castelian's and Fraunchaise's dual invasions of the island nation the West Indians strengthened the naval security for the waters surrounding their capital. Both naval forces were shown to have near equal force but as the day turned to night the force of Kynor was ultimately unable to break through the defenses of the West Indian navy. With much shame, the fleet turned back to Cancun after their poor showing against the West Indians on this day. This embarrassment was quick to be overshadowed by an even greater blunder.

San Antonio de los Baņos Airfield

[Rolls = 13-19]

As the Kynoran fleet made a poor showing in the waters of northwest Cuba, the air force would fail at its objectives in western Cuba. The San Antonio de los Baņos Airfield was the West Indies' principal air base, an early attack on the part of Kynor could've ensured Kynoran air dominance in the western portion of Cuba. The air force disembarked from Merida's air base early in the morning. The men involved also shared the initial optimistic outlook as their naval counterparts thinking that this would be a easy victory. The anti-aerial defenses of the West Indies proved to be more capable than Kynor's men this day however. The KAF at the end of the day only inflicted minimal damage against the airfield that wasn't enough to cripple the WIAF. Meanwhile, the West Indians managed to down 2 aircrafts. These back-to-back failures are sure to worsen morale in upcoming assaults against the West Indies. The Empire can only pray that these embarrassments don't prove to be a bad omen for further disasters.
