More Chess in the West Pacific!
By Giovanniland, Delegate of the West

Many moons ago in the middle of 2021, the West Pacific first experimented with the idea of a chess tournament, an idea brought forward by former Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuentana that reunited seven players from TWP and allied regions alike in a friendly competition. It was fairly successful, and as a Delegate who likes chess myself, I always found interesting the idea to hold further chess tournaments in the region. Therefore, when I sought interest during October and received positive answers from many people, it meant a lot to me, who proceeded to organize an event on November 5th, LinkThe West Pacifican 2022 Chess Arena.

The event started to be announced on October with a lot of time on advance, enough for gathering an amount of players that surpassed the previous edition—fourteen people signed up, although in the end only nine people appeared on the event date at the established duration from 6:00 to 9:00 PM UTC. In comparison to the previous tournament, in which there were standard, atomic and correspondence games, this one focused on standard chess only but had a great duration of three hours, enough for a total of 74 blitz games with 4.614 moves to be played. Some other interesting stats from the Lichess page are that the average participant rating was 1465, that white pieces (47%) won slightly lower than black ones (50%) and the remaining 3% were draws, and that nine percent of all games saw a player use the Berserk feature, which cuts time on half in return for an extra point in the case of victory.

As for the players that participated, they are listed here in alphabetical order: Fujai, Giovanniland (myself), Gombaland, Jus publicum europaeum, Kurabis, Nopes, Podium, Rivalfiume, and The Perfection Isles! Although I started the tournament strong, gaining a streak of over 24 points at the start, the tables turned shortly after that following a defeat to the Perfection Isles, who proceeded to built a winning strike of their own and take the first place for the remainder of the event. Jus Publicum Europaeum, who finished in third place, started rising as well, with a close fight between myself and them to see who would end in second, whereas the Perfection Isles widened their lead to confirm their overall victory.

Therefore, the podium finished as following—The Perfection Isles in first place with 67 points (77% win rate and 1893 performance rating), myself in second place with 56 points (68% win rate and 1777 performance rating) and Jus Publicum Europaeum in third place (65% win rate and 1785 performance rating). Furthermore, a honorable mention to Rivalfiume should also be given, as they fought well and achieved a strong fourth place with 22 points, as well as a 44% win rate and a 1568 performance rating. The final ranking was completed by Fujai with 6 points in 5th place, Podium and Nopes sharing 6th place with 2 points each, and Kurabis and Gombaland unable to score. Despite there needing to be winners and losers, however, every player competed to the best of their ability and thanked the others for joining in!

Last but not least, a tournament wouldn't be the same without special awards, of course. Two days after the event an awards dispatch was published, briefly summarizing the event and thankful for the participation of everyone, before proceeding to present the awards themselves to the top three players, which were designed by myself. The challenge coin represents the TWP colors with a characteristic red, coupled with the text and a depiction of a chess king in the relevant color for each position (gold, silver and bronze). The award presented to the tournament winner The Perfection Isles is shown below:

Overall, it was a very fun chess event to have once more, with three hours of fun playing blitz standard chess with residents of TWP and friends from our other regions alike! I once more thank everyone for participating, and wish to reiterate that I plan on hosting more chess events in TWP given the strong community interest in taking part. See you until then!

From the WAR Room
By Overthinkers, Minister of World Assembly Recruitment

Recent WAR updates have been heavy on the numbers, but this month’s update is all about proposals. There’s not even a single spreadsheet involved, and that makes me sad. But that’s not important right now.

This month we launched a joint Proposal Writing Camp together with the United Regions Alliance (URA). For those unaware, the URA is a WA voting bloc composed of regions of all shapes and sizes. Our WA priorities often align and mutual WA development is a key part of our Memorandum of Understanding. It’s important to note that networking between regions is crucial to success in the World Assembly, and that’s why partnerships like the one with the URA are important.

Our WA Training Camp is a long-term, in-depth resource open to members of both entities to develop and draft WA proposals. Currently, we are developing 4 General Assembly Proposals and 3 Security Council proposals, including authors from both TWP and URA. If you are interested in learning proposal writing, telegram me (or message on Discord) to learn more and Linkdon't forget to join the server!

And speaking of proposals, we’re diversifying the WAR portfolio and bringing back a recommendation dispatch. This will serve to clarify and inform regarding the Delegate’s position on each proposal as it reaches the floor. To make this happen, we will need writers, so if you’d like to help, hit me up! Our door is always open to new hires.

Happy 20th Anniversary, NationStates!
By Giovanniland, Delegate of the West

A special page designed by the game's creator Max Barry in celebration of the 20th anniversary.

Twenty years ago, on November 13th of 2022, Max Barry announced the release of the game Jennifer Government: NationStates in order to advertise his book called Jennifer Government. Although this date isn't the first recorded in the game history, with several other beta testings, the date that we all know and celebrate marked that the game now became public. In a news post during late 2003, Max writes about how he sent an e-mail to about 20 players and told them to pass on the word. Of course, with NationStates much larger, many different ways of joining the game have happened—500 thousand nations had been created within the first year, and now that figure stands at over 6 million.

Certainly, nations new and old will remember some of the most impactful and interesting features that have happened over the years—regional founders, influence, the replacement of the United Nations by the World Assembly and division into its two chambers (General Assembly and Security Council), the Challenge minigame notably added for the 10th anniversary ten years ago, themed days like N-Day and Z-Day, regional polls and officers, all the way down to recent additions such as Trading Cards, including their most recent season released on the 20th anniversary. Reminiscing the game's history and looking forward to the future is definitely present in many communities, for example in TWP through Regional Commendations and RMB posts from experienced people offering insignts on the early days of the game. This was one of the core tenets thought of when an interesting idea was devised by myself, a festival to celebrate the 20th anniversary!

The poster of the NS 20th Anniversary Festival, designed by Norvarxilaland.

The event idea was forwarded to the other member regions of the Modern Gameplay Compactthe North Pacific, the Pacific, Balder and Europeia—and definitely accepted, after all the five regions had just collaborated on the yearly N-Day event through the Coalition Against Radioactive Destruction (CARD). The list of organizers and event staff was composed by members from several regions, namely Blue bubble, Dalimbar, Fujai, Ghost Queen, Giovanniland, Hulldom, Neo Kervoskia, North East Somerset, Norvarxilaland, Pallaith, Pland Adanna, Syberis, Varanius, Writinglegend, and Wymondham!

All these representants from the five regional governments contributed to the festival planning in various ways, ensuring that this event would have a lot for members to do despite lasting only four days, from the 10th until the 13th (the anniversary date). Regarding the excellent artwork, it was authored by Norvarxilaland, creating a beautiful flyer and other graphics like the server icon done. Channel organization was done in a way to reflect the event's long-running and temporary attractions, with categories like general chat, Entertainment for events running throughout the festival, and Community Discussion for specific topics within the game. Thanks to everyone's hard work, the festival was done and dusted for the event date, ready to open and featuring several attractions!

A total of 152 festivalgoers from all regions showed their ticket and passed through the circus entrance, an extremely high number! Once in the festival, participants could join in the Entertainment category for always available activities, such as counting the number of days since the creation of NS (as of now only 1800 out of 7305 days have been counted), thinking of alternate timelines for when a given event happened differently, sharing their experiences and favorite moments from the past while talking about their hopes for the future, and even submitting a contribution to the NS Time Capsule to be opened in 5 years for the 25th anniversary!

Meanwhile, the Community Discussion contained channels for communities like Gameplay, Trading Cards, Issues, Roleplay, and the World Assembly, in which insightful discussion happened after some inspiring questions were made for each channel—gameplayers were asked about how they contribute to their region and their alignment, roleplayers could tell about their own nation and other nations that inspired them, issue answerers thought about their favorite issues and national statistics, card traders answered about their projects and expected rarities for Season 3 (which had no signs of coming when the question was asked, mind you), and WA regulars reminisced about their favorite resolution of the General Assembly and Security Council, with the select group of authors also answering what it was like to write a proposal.

A twist in the event would soon happen already in the first day, with the new Daily Features category unveiled for surprise events announced during the festival. They included guessing games where one'd answer if the previous player's guess about how they joined NS was true, and then make a guess for the next one; and collaborative works such as writing a national issue together. These activities were themed according to an event division, in which every day would represent five years, so that the dailies for the first day reflected the 2002-2007 period. A similar activity happened on the 2nd day (2007-2012) led by Pland Adanna, for players to imagine themselves writing the first World Assembly resolution after the old United Nations received Linka cease and desist letter from the real world UN. Another addition was the NS20 playlist by Hulldom, created with mostly 1920s hits in honor of the anniversary.

Meanwhile, there was also a Gaming channel, with games such as NationStates-themed Skribbl.io and Gartic Phone hosted by myself and Ghost Queen! In the former, we mixed NationStates-themed and usual prompts for people to draw and others to guess, and in the latter, festivalgoers had fun as they described pictures and drew new ones according to a sentence, many of them themed after various aspects of the game. Notably, in the 3rd day, a Historical Jeopardy event was hosted by Hulldom, who worked very hard on assembling many questions about various topics within the game and assigning them different points. People such as Agencourt and Tropezia joined alongside myself, for a very fun match ultimately won by myself.

A total of nearly twenty festival goers attended the radio show at the end of the event!

Last but not least, the big Anniversary Day finally came and packed with action! One of the highlights was the NS History Radio Show featuring one representant from each host region—Ambrella, Fujai, Syberis, Wymondham and Pallaith were chosen to talk about various topics of NationStates for more than an entire hour, after which the show moved to the general voice chat where people could casually talk. The notable happening of Season 3 being released was also commented in the server, coincidentally in the same day that another daily feature for folks to write their own ideas for future NationStates events happened. Speaking of trading cards, another feature for the day was Norvarxilaland's LinkCard Generator, allowing for users that didn't have a card in Season 1 or 2 to see how it would look on their own, or simply test what they would look with a different rarity.

Furthermore, one of the highlights of the day was also Norvarxilaland's, the Linknew version of the Best Nation in the World event created specifically for the festival! This throwback to the 2021 April Fools event saw 25 different festivalgoers nominate themselves for contention of the title, a process that was ended on the anniversary afternoon, when voting was opened. After 24 hours and a respectable 659 votes cast, Norvarxilaland officially announced the results! A three-way tie for fourth place happened between Pallaith, The Holy Principality of Saint Mark and PotatoFarmers with 33 votes each, followed by third place myself with 35 votes, second place Overthinkers with 38 votes, and winner TheLandOfFunFunFun with a whopping 80 votes!

A closing message by myself then ensued on the day after the anniversary, and on the whole, a wonderful time was had by all! The recent friendship between all five regions and the interest in NationStates are likely to continue in the future, and this festival will certainly be one to be remembered, while we wait for the next anniversary celebrations in the coming years. This is it for this article, but stay tuned about more articles about our interregional events in future editions of the Western Post!

2nd World Cup of Football: Sporty Boo-GOAL-oo
By Santos-dominius

If you've read previous editions of The Western Post, you will have noticed the multiple sports roleplay events that have happened in the West Pacific for many years, such as the World Cups of Rugby, Football and T20 Cricket, as well as the two Esferiads so far! However, with all the sports buzz lately, I think it would be reasonable to say that if you ask other people to name one sport off the top of their head, it would be football (aka soccer, not American football). That's most likely because of the 2nd World Cup of Football, which took place last month and was scorinated by the TWP RP community's beloved newly appointed Loremaster of Sport United Adaikes, with the wintery, chilly lands of Hertfordshire and Jammbo (H&J) offering to host the tournament.

The tournament saw the participation of a grand total of 24 nations, including one NPC nation, which is coincidentally the exact same number of nations that participated in WCF1! The complete list of participants is as follows: Hertfordshire and Jammbo, Nagaraningrad, Dalimbar, Driex Skad, Overthinkers, Tupmonia, Tara and cambray, Fujai, Giovanniland, Alchera (NPC), Kurabis, Sekiya, Larxia, Arifiyyah, United Adaikes, Cyrylic, Inner Ryxtylopia, The Holy Principality of Saint Mark, Nieubasria, Zoran, Santos-dominius, Haetonia, Rivalfiume, and Sospestan. Like in the previous edition, many of these nations posted all manner of interesting and insightful articles covering WCF results as well as other related news. So let's take a look at World Cup of Football 2: Sporty Boo-GOAL-oo!

The result summary (above) for WCF2 starting from the Round of 16. Produced by United Adaikes.

The roleplay for the World Cup was conducted on our Linkregional forums. The 24 participants were divided into four groups with six nations each, much like in the previous edition. Following the usual system of giving three points per win, one per draw and none per loss, the group stage featured five matchdays, after which the top four nations by points of each group advanced to the knockout rounds. By the end of the group stages, clear favorites like Tara and cambray (Bran Astor) and Nieubasria had dominated their respective Groups B and D by winning every match. In Groups A and C each winner won four times and drew once, Dalimbar and Arifiyyah respectively. Some other nations also received the highlight during the group stage, for example Fujai for their wonderful attack that netted 21 goals in 5 games and a lofty +10 goal differential—the same achieved by Nieubasria with 11 goals for and just 1 against, sharing the strongest defense of the stage with Dalimbar.

Close scenarios also happened for the fourth place of each group, the lowest position that guaranteed the position—Groups B and C saw Sekiya and Inner Ryxtylopia advance with three points each, defeating through goals scored two other nations that also had the same points. However, in an unfortunate coincidence, all the third- and fourth-placed teams of each group were defeated by the stronger first- and second-placed ones in the Round of 16. These nations proceeded to have exciting matchups in the quarterfinals and beyond, including the podium of the previous edition (Nieubasria, Larxia, Tara and cambray and Nagaraningrad in that order). In fact, one of the quarterfinals mirrored the previous World Cup final, with Nieubasria ending Larxian hopes of getting revenge after a penalty shootout, while another quarterfinal mirrored the previous third-place match—once more the winner of that match, Cambria, prevailed this time as well over Nagaraningrad.

Therefore, this meant that there would be two new semifinalists, namely the previously mentioned Fujai and Arifiyyah that scored together 38 goals in the group stage. Their semifinal saw a timid 1-1 score followed by Arifiyyah winning 5-4 on penalties, however, while the other one pitted neighbors Cambria and Nieubasria against each other, with the latter winning 3-2. In the long-awaited final, Nieubasria successfully defended their title in a nail-biting 4-3 match, setting their team as a regular contender for winning competitions in Esferian football! Cambria, too, repeated their third place that they had earned in the first edition, this time through a win against Fujai—ironically with a 6-1 score against the team that had scored the most in the group stage.

Tara and cambray wrote:"It Means A LOT To Me" - Ellierton Goalkeeper Meredith Talks About Dos Santos's Mentorship in the Early Stages of His Career

Ellierton's Andrew Meredith revealed how Giovanni Dos Santos's development team played a key role in his ascension into Cambria's next world-class shot-stopper in a recent interview.

LINA BOISIVON · NOV 11, 1422

Apart from the endless list of silverware he has liberated from fine dining establishments throughout his career, what separates Giovanni Dos Santos from his colleagues is his progressive impact on the advancement of football.

While the concept of playing out from the back was unheard of in Union Football prior to his arrival, the Alcheran’s technical innovation has resulted in teams across the federation and in the lower tiers as well - with technically-secure goalkeepers now becoming a prerequisite in Cambric football.

Ellierton's Andrew Meredith recently shared that he is one of those inspired by Dos Santos's master plan as he described how the national manager played a pivotal role in establishing him as the quintessential modern-day goalkeeper.

“I once played for a manager who admired the (Giovanni) Dos Santos team from Saint-Mattis which showcased the goalkeeper. He tried to do that with us in the U-20's and it helped a lot," Meredith said in his latest interview with Ellierton’s official website.

Apart from playing with nothing short of genius, one of the reasons why Meredith is touted as one of the most capable in his position is due to his mastery of possession, which stems from how Dos Santos overhauled the playbook for goalkeepers.

The same is said of Keller, who is arguably the crown jewel in Dos Santos’s system, with the 34-year-old responsible for igniting every Cambric National Team attack by picking the most opportune pockets for his teammates with his cannon of a left foot.

Giovanni Dos Santos will continue to promote and inspire generations of goalkeepers across the world as his tactics continue to be ahead of the time.

Besides the exciting results of the matches themselves, there were certainly several interesting RP posts during WCF2! Aside from the many well-written RP posts by many participating nations covering their respective teams' performance and comments, there were also many other examples of splendid roleplay writing. A Cambrian footballer interview written by Bran and transcribed above, for example, highlights the role of the Cambrian coach Giovanni Dos Santos in mentoring key players of the team to bring stellar performances in World Cups. Nagaraningrad, meanwhile, made a post highlighting Linka dedicated fan's journey to visit the event, telling key details about life in the country when stating that most citizens never really have left the nation, among many other examples of inspiring stories.

Also worth mentioning are the posts featuring outstanding artwork by several participants, a common aspect of roleplay that adds to the storytelling. The featured post by Inner Ryxtylopia, for example, uses an interesting design to add to the report of their first two matches. The highlighted website of The Monitor from Nieubasria presents interesting matters beyond the sports happenings through a well-built news portal, and that’s just one example from the multiple unique posts by the eventual champions, ranging from descriptions of the nation’s political system, important news from nearby nations, cultural traditions, and much more! Yet another example were the news posts from Fujai, detailing the country’s tough relationship with western neighbors Dalimbar stemming from multiple wars in the past that led to occupation of Fujansk land—the two nations also happened to cross paths in the quarterfinals which led to a 2-0 win by Fujai’s Landslag.

Of course, I can only talk about how many good RP posts there were for so long—if you're interested, you can check it on your own on the TWP regional forums! On the whole, the WCF2 was a very successful sequel to WCF1, and yet another highlight of this year, especially for our regional RP community. Many new and old members alike were able to participate in this event and show off their own creativity in different forms. As we slowly approach the end of this year, let's look forward to the future and hope that there will be many more successful Sports RP events in the West!

Card Club Update: Season 3 Special!
By Giovanniland, Delegate and Card Czar of the West

Welcome to another update about the West Pacific's Card Club! We will talk about the months of October and November, alongside a special coverage of Season 3 here in TWP.

October for the Card Club

The month of October saw a monthly contest coupled with regular Punday Mondays whose themes fit the OcTWPerfest spirit. Punday winners during these two months were Cyrylic, The Holy Principality of Saint Mark, Hongg Kong, Roiko (x2), Cro Magnon, Davelands (x2), Occidius, and Nas Crustium. These winners won a legendary card for each win, and their winning puns and other older ones can, of course, still be seen in the recently-updated Big Book of Puns, with records dating back to 2019.

Also during October, a card collection contest themed on N-Day and Z-Day was organized by the Card Club, with options for TWPers to collect cards that pertain to either of the yearly events and detail as they want, such as cards celebrating important factions and players for N-Day; and the three options a nation has to choose from, namely cure, exterminate or embrace the horde for Z-Day. Three people submitted collections: Aicrowian Canada, Con Nihawitan, and Podium! A more successful event than its previous iteration, it ultimately saw Con Nihawitan and Podium submit the larger two collections, with almost identical sizes of 20 and 19 respectively, while Aicrowian Canada nevertheless also collected 6 diverse cards.

After a month of collecting that went from October 1st to 30th, it was a very tough decision, but the win goes to Podium for the creativity in tying the contest theme into various custom fields of the card, even less ordinary ones like region name, as well as seeking interesting flags that are hard to come across. Podium was congratulated and gifted the Season 1 legendary card, with second-placed Con Nihawitan snatching up a Season 2 legendary called Eta Carinae, wrapping up another successful TWP contest. A different feeling in comparison to the overall cards community, which at the time suffered from a several drought of players and boredom from a lack of new changes. At the time, little did people expect about the activity boost that would ensue in November amid many interesting news!

Road to Season 3

November 3rd saw a lot of changes to the trading cards leaderboard! I overtook Mikeswill in the early morning, ending a reign that had started August 22nd of last year, incidentally started after a short reign by myself when dethroning Koem Kab. The card collection of myself and my puppets was crucial to this development, given that a large part of the 4,900 copies there are cards that had their value raised by a quick succession of 10 trades at 10 thousand bank, the highest value that can be asked, to reach that same market value. Such effort during that day meant that, by the end of it, a new deck value record had been set at over 26 million deck value, so high that the International Artwork simply Linkstopped showing the changes after 10 million deck value, echoing a previous issue with another stat.

Whether intentionally set by this catalyst or simply coincidental, Max Barry announced changes to the market late in the night—a Market Value review that sought to fix the effect of massive card inflation that had accumulated during past years, especially the several million deck value spawned hours before; an Auction Fee to discourage further inflation trades back and forth between two nations by taxing all sales above 10 bank; and a change to Deck Capacity, which became cheaper and had the number of spots increased per capacity upgrade, but also started to be actually enforced, with non-compliant trades being unable to place new bids.

By the end of the price review Koem Kab had claimed back the title of first place overall in deck value, whereas Fhaengshia was briefly first place here in TWP for some days, until advances in research of the new value formula meant that I could reclaim that place by increasing the bid value at which I bought the same cards of puppets I had inflated earlier, given that the formula now values backing a certain price with regular bids. For those wondering, although the calculation method isn't fully deciphered, there seems to be a heavy focus on unique nations to make trades count for market value. Also worthy of mention is the use of median instead of average, in order to exclude outliers, and a check on different buyer nations every few trades, currently estimated to be three (a possible influence by the seller nation is cogitated but not confirmed).

Inscription and Aftermath

The big announcement everyone was waiting for (aside from believers within TWP that said Season 3 would never come) would come nine days after the changes, planned to coincide with NationStates' twentieth anniversary. Immediately, nations from TWP and beyond rushed to see what rarity their newly-released card would have, and many TWPers cherished their increases in rank, especially the promotion to legendary that was earned by myself (Giovanniland) and The Holy Principality of Saint Mark, later joined by Laudesia, an important breakthrough after two legendary-less seasons in our region. The new vertical design, giving even greater space for the flag, had mixed reviews; but the new rule of ignoring names with numbers if they were either on a puppet storage or their non-numerical part wasn't unique was praised.

The three Season 3 Legendaries of the West Pacific!

The inscription period was ultimately weeklong, for collectors to have a headstart in finding the cards they need to collect and placing bids in advance, and ended on November 19th, after which thousands of Season 3 packs were opened and cards were placed on auction, for example more than a thousand bids by myself matched during the first hour. Notably, the start of card collecting also saw a special contest launched by the Card Club three days later, the Cards Within Cards Scavenger Hunt—a simple contest of who could find and obtain the most cards that feature a reference to cards within themselves (on the flag, name, motto, region, etc), with a bonus for Season 3 cards, that lasted for a week until November 29th.

At the end of the contest deadline, a respectable total of four entries had been reached! Aftokratoria, Con Nihawitan, Guam-North Mariana and Rengum in lingo all made their own submissions, and were judged by a due of myself and Laudesia, experienced card trader that offered to help with judging and planning contests. Ultimately, Con Nihawitan was chosen as the winner given that their collection was by far the one with most cards related to the theme, and they received Season 3 Legendary Yodle, first from the season to be gifted by the Card Club.

Last but not least, the Card Club hasn't stopped since Season 3 started! Immediately following the announcement of results for the scavenger hunt, the Wassailing Card Contest was announced on the first day of Midwinter Shenanigans, with a Christmas and/or winter winter in general, and bonus points for seeking cards that have a relation to the regional theme called the Wassailing Pacific theme. This contest is still ongoing with many days to spare, so I hope to see several submissions, perhaps even more than what we had for the scavenger hunt! Collections should be posted in our RMB with the #wassailingcardcontest tag until 23:59 EST of 31st December, so take your chance to win a Season 1 or Season 2 legendary card depending on what result within the top 2 you achieve!

Overall, the Card Club has been very active before and after Season 3, although it's undeniable that the new season has brought new activity and new faces to participate in the activities, as seen by recent numbers of contest entries. It is my hope that these develop into full-fledged card traders and TWP members, so one can read more about the Card Club and other opportunities here in this dispatch. Furthermore, may everyone's collections thrive during Season 3, to the example of the nearly-completed TWP Season 3 display! Until then, these are all the major card-related news in TWP for now; stay tuned for another update in the next Western Post!

2022 Turkey Pardon: Gobbleberg Saved by Fellow Bird
By Giovanniland, Delegate of the West

The fourth edition of the West Pacific's annual Turkey Pardon happened this year, after the 2019 and 2020, and 2021 editions. This event themed on Thanksgiving allows member nations to choose which turkey should be spared from the regional dinner table out of several, through a regional poll and later a Hall of Nations proposal. In contention to being companions to Old Pecker, Tracy, and Gord pardoned in previous years, four turkeys presented themselves and made their case within the PardIn social media, with their profiles designed by Zoran with help from Bran Astor.

In the regional gameside poll held by Zoran, the turkey chemist Gobbleberg was chosen by a majority of residents, citing the turkey's deal of a high quality chemical product for the region in exchange for sparing him. Pavo Picaso came in a close second, with many members marveled by the beautiful and colorful turkey, but ultimately this beauty couldn't save them from becoming a delicious meal. A similar destiny awaited bureaucrat and drag queen Anita Cox, despite the experience in the public sector and an offer for a glass of wine. Last and least came the unpopular Alan Berk, avoided by 80 of 84 voters that distributed their choice to one of the other three turkeys, meaning that the owner of many companies was the first to be ruled out.

Despite the close vote, the Hall of Nations proceeded with the usual plan of writing a petition for myself, Delegate of the West Giovanniland, to pardon Gobbleberg. The petition was written by the Speaker of the Hall Hertfordshire and Jammbo, with comments from Zoran and Bran Astor as well. Its text starts with a general mention of the Thanksgiving holiday, followed by one paragraph each dedicated to the turkeys that were deemed by TWPers unworthy of being pardoned, explaining some reasons for them to go straight to the dinner table. Lastly, petitioning for a pardon for Gobbleberg, it made some arguments in favor of the given turkey, citing that the "deals were good enough for us to consider the option" and that "placing him upon the tray would mean losing out on these deals, a price that may not be worth paying."

Finally, the last step before an official Delegate decision was the vote among Hall of Nations citizens. Unlike the regional poll that saw a close fight between Pavo Picaso and Gobbleberg especially, the pardon proposal was approved by over 90% of the vote and sent for Delegate consideration. This came still in the same day, in a dispatch describing the official decision and presenting the proposal publicly. There I mention, after all, that macaws and turkeys are both birds so that even despite many differences, it would be unfortunate for me to refuse the pardon. Accepting the pardon, however, there's a note from a source telling me that we couldn't locate the turkey anymore.

This finish concluded this year's Turkey Pardon, where Gobbleberg was pardoned, and the other turkeys were just simply delicious. Here's to next year's Turkey Pardon—who will be in the roasting tin next time? You'll have to wait another year to find out, but in the meantime, consider Linkapplying to join the Hall of Nations to take part in this and other fun activities! We hope to see you there soon.
