The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 30.61 billion Nemphesisians are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, well-organized morass — is dominated by the Department of Defense, with Administration, Healthcare, and International Aid also on the agenda, while Spirituality and Welfare receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Amarth Tal. The average income tax rate is 83.1%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The Nemphesisian economy, worth a remarkable 1,628 trillion diamonds a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity. The industrial sector is solely comprised of the Uranium Mining industry. State-owned companies are reasonably common.
