TODAY IN THE WEST

It's the most notable day of the week: Karaoke Friday! Tune in throughout the day to listen and sing along with residents and friends. On the last few Karaoke Fridays I have gone by themes. Sadly I'll be up in the air for a good chunk of the day, so maybe you can help me: what are your favorite songs about travel by air (space ship)?

Today is also Floral Design Day, which celebrates the flowering of artistic vision with flowers of all kinds from bouquets to floral arrangements. What is your favorite kind of flower?

February 28th is also Public Sleeping Day. You are encouraged to take a nap today, but please only do this during a work or school break. As for me, my addiction to coffee makes it difficult to observe such a day.

On this day we also celebrate Skip the Straw Day. Founded by middle schoolers in 2017 who are known as the Coral Keepers, this day challenges each of us to be more ecologically sensitive. In the United States alone, we use some 500 million straws each day. So if you go to a coffee shop or a fast food place, try to skip the straw.
