The Republic of The United Lowerlands is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its pith helmet sales, absence of drug laws, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working population of 302 million Lowerlanders are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The tiny government is primarily concerned with Defense, although Law & Order, Industry, and Healthcare are also considered important, while International Aid and Welfare aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Riverdam. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6.6%.

The powerhouse Lowerlandish economy, worth 29.0 trillion goldens a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Gambling, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Arms Manufacturing. Average income is 96,015 goldens, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 339,864 per year while the poor average 19,585, a ratio of 17.4 to 1.

College athletes are arrested for selling lemonade, divorce is illegal, most voters only see their chosen representative visit once every election cycle, and Mr Happy's Funland has just been named The United Lowerlands's new capital. Crime is a serious problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. The United Lowerlands's national animal is the lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

The United Lowerlands is ranked 241,562nd in the world and 1,340th in Europe for Safest, scoring 17.15 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
