Richardson became slightly startled as he heard Blake's voice behind him. He turned, sighing a breath of relief when he saw it was really her.
"Hmm... A distraction?" He said, mulling over the idea.
"Yes I think we could use one. If we start a war now then all we end up doing is getting ourselves killed... though as for a distraction.. what could we do exactly..."
He pondered for a second, wondering if Blake had any ideas as well.
Richardson nodded.
"Alright, lets do it then."
With that he would send her off, hopefully she would be a good distraction for them. Though of course she didn't have to leave yet if she didn't wish to. Richardson knew they had a long adventure ahead of them.
As she made her way downtown again, Blake took a deep breath. She was no stranger to racism or sexism, and she was used to being stared at, or sometimes bullied. The young version of herself would’ve started a fight, but one thing her parents, especially her father, taught her was that you had to pick your fights so that meant something. And also if you had to draw a little blood to get your point across, so be it.
As she walked into town, she was thankful she had Gambol Shroud on her back. Not she couldn’t take care of herself but blades definitely struck more fear into people than fists, or maybe even guns. Now then...who’s gonna be the first one to call out the weird cat girl?

Founded on March 7th, 2018 by Achipel, the New West Indies (NWI) initially created a modern roleplay canon that has continued ever since. Nations began solely in the Caribbean area of the map, but as the community grew (and grow quickly it did), the roleplay became more complex with it, becoming more Post-Modern and spawning a variety of new adventures.
Vexillology (flag-making) is at the heart of the region. Experienced creators like Cymiopolis, New united carolinas, and Portinabia (among others) frequently show off their skills.
Government and lawmaking have recently begun to take hold, as many experienced members debate potential reforms and changes to regional institutions and affairs.
Members often discuss politics, memes, games, and other topics on our Regional Message Board (RMB) and especially Discord. Anyone who follows the rules and wants to have a good time in their area of interest is welcome here!

You should start your New West Indies experience by completing the Citizenship Application, which will allow you to experience roleplay, lawmaking, and other engaging activities! Once you fill it out completely, relevant authorities will inform you if it is approved.
Make sure to answer every question! To decide what RP claim you want (if desired), go to the Regional Map – make certain that what you want isn't already taken (is any color besides grey). If you are having trouble with the app, contact a regional officer.

discord server is the best place to start – you can begin mingling with the citizenry and ask questions if you're confused. You can also introduce yourself on the RMB as well.
Our Constitution outlines our laws and values – every citizen should read it and be familiar with the rules of the Indies road.
Speaking of the RMB, getting your feet wet in roleplay is quite important if you want to participate. Whether you're a newer player or experienced roleplayer, it's beneficial to get your first post out there and introduce yourself in- and out-of-character.

Roleplay! |
Roleplay (RP) is the main attraction for new and old members alike. Start by creating your nation's basic lore; where is it on the map? What are its socioeconomic challenges? What are its politics like? These questions and others will guide you through creating an overview dispatch (such as this one) if you are so inclined. Otherwise, begin diplomatically engaging and describing the issues your nation faces on the RMB, so everyone can start getting familiar.
Once you are settled into the canon, branch out! Create some personable characters, discuss IC legislation in 
the Union of Nations, make an alliance, or create your own business! If you are so inclined, and become familiar with our guidelines, you could even make your own roleplay for the region! The possibilities are truly at your leisure (barring something extraneous).

Participate in the General Assembly! |
Once you become a citizen, you are automatically a member of the NWI General Assembly (GA), our regional lawmaking body. As such, you have the opportunity to not only vote on and discuss legislation, but you can also propose your own! We have many experienced members that can assist in the process, especially for newer members. The best way to begin learning about the GA and discuss law is to join our discord and go to the GA channel.

Our Executive Branch is made of the Secretary-General, the head of government, who every six months (once elected) appoints a cabinet of four Secretaries that make up the "Secretariat." These nations execute GA law, protect the region, and moderate certain regional affairs.
Once you become more familiar with our region, any citizen can run for office, whether that be the Secretary-General or General Assembly President! Additionally, you can be appointed to a Secretarial position or a lower role within one of the Executive departments.
Even if you do not want to work in government, it is your prerogative as a citizen to vote in elections, which increases representation and makes government work better for the people as a result.

Joining the world assembly not only provides many benefits to you, but also helps the region in numerous ways.
Once you've joined the world assembly, you should endorse the current delegate (Karteria), which allows the delegate to have more sway in World Assembly voting and further secures the region. You can also discuss current WA topics and legislation with other members of the NWI in our WA channel on discord.
See "2.4 What is the World Assembly?" near the bottom of this document for instructions on how to attain WA membership.
Issues are the key to any initial NationStates experience. To access them, click the button in the top left corner of your page that says "issues." From there, you can answer the critical questions for your nation however you please.
Depending on how you answer issues, they will affect your nation's "stats" and potentially enact "policies." See the toolbar on your nation's page (underneath your motto) for more information about each effect.
Issues have no major bearing on regional roleplay, but they can give you ideas for how to formulate your nation in-character. Just answered an issue enacting euthanasia, or banning nuclear power? Why not do it in RP too!
If you don't want to answer issues, or you want to answer them more/less frequently, you can adjust the duration between each one in your nation's settings.
Dispatches are canvases for nations to express anything they wish in a public setting. You can write, roleplay, campaign, design art, or anything in between – all through a simple dispatch.

Telegrams are the method by which nations directly message one another privately. Mass telegrams, sent to every nation in the NWI, are frequently used by regional officials to keep everyone updated.

The World Assembly (WA) is an international organization with thousands of member-nations, which focuses on legislating the NationStates metaverse.

Whatever her reaction to Penny turning off was, it wouldn't be known until she actually showed up.
"You're right about the scary robot look not being the best. Won't be an issue though, I've got ways of looking less threatening. Something some of us here would be familiar with."
He glanced towards Sinon as he said that last part. Luckily, he didn't need to kill someone in order to don a disguise, and with some effort, he'd be able to make one without even having a person to base it on.
"Anyway, you shouldn't have to worry about your vacation being interrupted again. I'm pretty certain I was the only AI assassin within the Scandinavian peninsula, and I doubt there's anything else that could happen. Can't get much worse than having your vehicle totaled by two robots duking it out nowadays."
The sirens were almost there at this point, and they could already see a few police cars in the distance, rushing to the scene. Time to figure out how severe a crime is if the perpetrator is reprogrammed in the process.
"Indeed. Let's hope that your certainty isn't wrong."
Markos sighs, stretches, and watches the police come into view.
“This is bad,” Sinon said as she carried Penny. “We need to find a place for these two...I can hope you can back here fast Heidi...”
"You mean you hope if they can get back here fast." Markos says, observing idly. "Also a bit of a design flaw that a better power source wasn't used, but whatever."

"Shut it, buddy, this is no time to criticize her internals. You can do that once she's not tuckered out, and you're not in an active crime scene."
“Can we not do this right now?” Sinon snapped. “Sleipnir, are you able to get up at all?”
Markos looks back and stares at Slepnir, annoyed.
"You know, if you weren't here in the first place I'd wouldn't be-"
He shuts his mouth.
"Sorry, you're right. I'll drop the jokes for now."
Crash Landing, Pt. 1
Great Inagua | State of The Bahamas | United Antillean Kingdom
So far it was a usual day at the weekly market of Matthew Town, the main and only settlement on the island. Each week, about one third of the island's population would gather on Market Square at Matthew Town Dock, the island's only connection to the rest of the Kingdom besides the airport, haggling for groceries and other household items and, for the most part, minding their own business. Even though it was only around 10 o'clock in the morning, which was already late by the market's standards since most vendors were already opening their booths as early as 4 o'clock to avoid the heat spoiling their food, the scorching sun was already heating up the atmosphere and the concrete pavement at full blast. Some already began packing up leftover items for the next week, or giving away groceries for free to friends and family as to not let them go to waste.
Suddenly, a muffled sound in the distance. Did it sound like... a bomb detonating? A wave of uneasiness coursed through the crowd at Market Square, when suddenly the lighthouse's horn could be heard. The lighthouse keeper must have seen something. As some people started pacing towards the lighthouse located about three kilometers south of the market. As they passed the former National Trust Office, a car came speeding towards them. The vehicle decelerated sharply to avoid crashing into the crowd, and upon stand-still, the lighthouse keeper got out of the car pointing his arms in the direction of where the sound came from.
"A crash! A big plane crashed on Little Inagua!", he shouted out of breath. "Get motorboats ready, and inform the Chief!"
People did as he said and rushed back to Market Square and the harbor. The lighthouse keeper got back into his Jeep and rushed off into the opposite direction to reach the harbor area at the opposite end of the island. There he kept his boat tethered to a dock he constructed himself a few years back. He got into his motorboat and started the engine. As the boat started moving, some other boats were arriving at the southern end of Little Inagua as well. Looking through his binoculars, he saw figures moving around the crash site.
Thank God they survived, the keeper thought.
He shook his head.
"Already tried, no dice. Dunno what's broken, but I'm not able to walk right now. Good thing I've got other limbs, then."
Sinon laid Penny down gently. “I don’t have any tools with me but I have some experience repairing droids. Think I might be able to do a quick fix?”
"I mean, I'd just wait until Heidrun gets here, though if you're confident you could try it out. I have some experience with mechanics, so if you're sure I could help you out a bit."
"If you think you're up to the task, give it a try. Don't know how close those droids' designs are to mine, but it's worth a shot."
Sinon goes up to Sleipnir. “Aside from puncture wounds, what are we dealing with?” It looked as if wires had been severed.
A New Ship. A New Era
Winter was present with Admiral Auralani, looking out towards the recently captured Bellator-class dreadnought. “I will give the Imperials credit, they do make fine ships,” Auralani commented.
“Indeed,” Winter agreed. “Such a ship will benefit our fleet greatly. We should have at least ten of them by the end of the year.”
“I’ve heard there’s been some...concern in the Senate about whether this will negatively impact our economy, with the fear of material shortages and all that.”
“I will deal with the Senate,” Winter said assuringly. “They need to know that the Alliance must be prepared for all threats and if that means further expanding our military, then so be it. The Sistonians will eventually come back and when the time comes, we will be the ones to make the first strike...”
"Some severed wires and a leak, it seems. Be careful around that fluid, by the way. It's a coolant, and it's acidic."
Indeed, he was leaking fluid onto the pavement, albeit in smaller amounts.
Fortunately, the gloves Sinon wore would protect her from any electric shocks. “Just be careful not to accidentally stab me,” she said as she started working on reconnecting the wires.
Markos observes, making sure that Sinon doesn't reconnect the wrong wires or get close to any signs of leak. "Whup, be careful there."
“I know what I’m doing here,” Sinon said, trying to stay patient. “I don’t suppose you have any tools in your car?”
"Hey, just trying to help."
Markos walks over to his car, searches in the glove compartment, and eventually comes out with some pliers. "This is all I could find."
Sinon looked up. “They’ll do, thanks,” she said as she grabbed them. “Honestly, there’s a lot more wires here than I realized, which in a way is kind of horrifying.”
