"Pax Rodinia" - The Second Expansion

Kaiser Otto Alduin I. hosts the second annual Rodinian Conference, a collection of representatives or leaders from all corners of the Rodinian Union, who in turn gather to convey their ideals, initiatives, projects, movements, and share these concepts with each other to improve the union. In his opening statement before the convention officially begins, Kaiser Otto announces that, on behalf of Sovern, will be inviting certain Rodinian countries into the Rodinian Union.

"...These nations have shown to be a potential benefit to the Rodinian Union; whether it be by means of their thriving economies, and strategic geography. Regardless of what they can offer, to me they are more than welcome to join our union, and deserve a place in our greater community. I implore my fellow Rodinian members to accept them in as much as I do."

Despite the Kingdom of Bortavia initially rejecting the invite into the Rodinian Union, many political opposition leaders have protested the decision, and instead want a chance to improve the nation's conditions with foreign investment; however, the current King does not see it that way, and instead wants to remain independent. Another, yet unmentioned reasons; being that Bortavia has historical grievances with Greater Bugradolva, and is threatened by competition by goods (especially grains) from Cossack Ukraine. The outcome of joining the union does not look favorable to the ruling regime, but the everyday citizen would disagree, if they could.

The current King wants to open up trade and political relations with the Hyperborean Empire of Vostag, but is obviously difficult considering Bortavia's geography, and their relations with neighboring countries. Due to this situation, Bortavia's economy has stagnated over the last decade, and is already sharply declining in productivity and GDP. This may cause instability in the near future.
