One of these plans, a particularly gruesome and cruel idea, catches the eye of the Coordinator: recently captured Al-Caedan soldiers will be cloned and the clones sent to assault Al-Caedan positions, forming strike teams apparently composed of their own friends and comrades. The Coordinator signs off immediately: with minimal risk to Pantsoan forces or allies and the potential to cause chaos and doubt among the enemy.

The clones are hatched, kitted with the dress and gear of the captured men and women they replace, and are given their orders: to raid Al-Caeda strongholds, take out mid-level commanders, and disable defenses. The clones aren't expected to survive the attacks, even if they do . . . their lifespan is measured in weeks anyway. Once these strongholds are softened, GSCO reports to Wille-Harlia's intelligence services that there may be opportunities for an all-out assault . . .
