Moridunum System

The flotilla emerges in the Moridunum system, and the AI reports multiple contacts near the jump point. Captain Irwin instructs the AI to establish contact. On the screen, a man in a uniform matching that of a UCN Admiral appears.

Admiral Reeves: "This is Admiral Reeves of the UCN 12th fleet. Identify yourselves."

Captain Irwin responds, puzzled: "This is Captain Irwin of the USN Vanguard, transmitting identification codes per regulation."

After a brief pause, the Admiral's voice conveys a startling revelation: "Captain Irwin, your ships were presumed lost with all hands almost 50 years ago."

Captain Irwin, his voice filled with disbelief, replies: "50 years, Admiral? We've been trapped for only 3 months."

The Admiral's response is chilling: "No, Captain. It's been 52 years since the storms began."

Captain Irwin, struggling to grasp the enormity of the situation, asks: "Admiral, how is that possible? We experienced only three months passing inside the storm."

Admiral Reeves: "Time is relative, Captain. Those storms were far more than they seemed. We'll debrief you further once you're safely docked.
You and your flotilla will be escorted back to Moridunum Station immediately. However, I must inform you that due to the unknown nature of your extended absence, you and your crew will be placed under quarantine for a period of assessment."

Captain Irwin, now comprehending the seriousness of their return, responds with a resigned nod: "Understood, Admiral. We'll comply with all necessary protocols."

Admiral Reeves: "Your safety and the safety of all aboard is our top priority. We'll provide you with further instructions upon your arrival at the station. To the honor of our Ancestors Reeves out."
