An agreement has been reached with the Cccp- and Sovatom to begin the construction of a VVER-TOI 4 core reactor near Belene in Bulgaria.

The Belene Nuclear Plant is based off the VVER-1200 series, with multiple safe guards and improvements, including:

-Power increased to 1300 MWe gross
-Upgraded pressure vessel
-Improved core design to improve cooling
-Further developments of passive safety systems
-Lower construction and operating costs with a 40-month construction time
-Use of low-speed turbines

This project is planned to take 4 years (208 RL days) at a cost IMK 121,180,000,000 ($14.6bn)

Koç Holdings and Eunice Energy will work with Sovatom to insure a safe, and effective project for the Belene Nuclear Plant. Koç Holdings and Eunice Energy will be sharing a burden of the cost, along with the Hellenic Central government & Bulgaria.

This project is a major investment into Bulgaria and the Balkans. It will bring thousands of jobs, clean & safe energy, and economic opportunity to Bulgaria, North hellenes and will provide greater energy independence.

Eunice Energy

The overall construction of the plant is moving along steadily. Ground has been cleared, space made and construction is going well.
We anticipate a smooth construction barring delays.

The Hellenic Investment Corporation (EEE) is now working with us closely regarding the project, with both Eunice and the EEE working with Bulgaria, Kosovo and the northern parts of the Hellenic Peninsula down to Thessaloniki to upgrade the existing grid network.

We wish to work with Donau-bundesreich on working with us to achieve this goal and expansion. Additionally
working with the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) will be crucial in this project. The modernization of network control will be crucial for not just in relation to the plant, but for the health of the national power grid and to help standardize.

Benefits include:

the improvement of the reliability of the Network in all of Hellas, (apart from the Aegean Islands, Ionian Islands, Cyprus and Crete and the Eastern Anatolian Nations), the quality indices and the detection of the weak spots of the Network

resource gathering and saving, more effective human resources management during faults and better and faster restoration of outages

the decrease of the loading of the facilities in increased demand periods and the restriction of power and energy losses in the Network

the upgrading of the management possibilities of Networks, studies and training of the relevant staff

A total investment from the EEE fund of $400mn will be placed starting out, with Eunice investing an additional $300mn The Hellenic Central Government intends to invest $400mn, with a total investment of $1.1bn. These funds will be issued over the next 3 years (156 RL days) as this project moves along.

The islands and nations not included will be receiving future projects with the same standardization implemented.

The Belene Nuclear Power Plant, as well as future projects such as wind farms and solar farms in the Aegean, Anatolia and elsewhere will be connected to a truly smart grid and will enable the Hellenic League to get closer to its goal of energy independence with the utilization of safe & effective clean energy.
