IDK but we need to fight systemic racism even though I'm white.

Today in History wrote:6 August 1945 (75 years ago): World War II: Hiroshima, Japan is devastated when the atomic bomb "Little Boy" is dropped by the United States B-29 Enola Gay. Around 70,000 people are killed instantly, and some tens of thousands die in subsequent years from burns and radiation poisoning.

Question of the Day: Was the dropping of nuclear bombs by the United States justified?

Yes. It avoided the deaths of millions of Japanese, British, Americans, Soviet, Chinese, Australians, etc and etc.

In the Second World War, after the D-Day landings, the people helped the Allies out, because they were in French territories, which had been taken over by the Third Reich a few years prior. In Italy, an Entente power from WWI, they'd suffer enough from the fascist government to help out the Allies and their push to liberate Italy. In Poland and Russia, they saw the Soviets use overwhelming numbers to advance, seeing that the Soviets were their brothers in Russia and the less of two evils in Poland, they'd help the Soviets. In Germany, they had seen enough troubles and hardship for them just to give up and lay down their arms. All of these actions included surrendering their arms and soldiers, something that is not uncommon in the West.

As stated by the Japanese Warriors code, surrender is not an option. If the Allies did not develop the Manhattan Project soon enough to create the Little Boy and Fat Man, then the worst operation in, casualties and fatalities, would start. That operation is known as Operation Downfall. It would include the Allies invading the home islands of Japan. A feat that had never succeeded before, in any time in history. As the Americans invaded, not only would the soldiers fight tooth and nail, but also the civilians, whom would be defending their lands from these invaders. Even if they all had ran out of food, ammunition, guns, they'd still be coming at these invaders. This may be scary, but what the Japanese truly feared was Westward, with a Soviet invasion. In Manchuria, the Soviets would steamroll their way through the puppet state, gain control of all of Korea, then invade the home islands, with 1.1 million soldiers, which would have murdered, pillaged, and [enter expletive here] all girls and women that they would find. The Japanese would never surrender to the soviets, because the Soviets destroyed the religions in the lands they occupied. And the Japanese were very religious, from their beliefs in Buddhism, to all the codes they follow. If the Soviets and Americans both invaded, the Japanese would fear that their emperor would be pushed down from godhood, all the codes of warriors and systems that the Japanese practiced for hundreds of years, would be thrown out. Thus they would fight with all their might, which would lead to an unfathomable number of dead and wounded. Numbers never seen before in human history.

Some might say, "Why didn't the Americans take the Japanese via conditional surrender?" The thing is, the times they proposed it, it was rejected because, a. They wanted Emperor Hirohito to remain in full control of Japan, b. because they wanted to hold the human rights trials and war crime trials by themselves, c. because they wanted the government to be untouched, and, d. because they wanted only a small foreign presence within the nation. All of which were seen as reasons not to go ahead with conditional surrender.

And if the Americans and Soviets took the other option, with was to just blockade and starve out the Japanese, millions more, especially the elderly and children, would all die from starvation and dehydration, which would, again decimate the Japanese population, and create a suffering never before seen on such a scale. Thus, as sad as it is to say, I think that the nuclear option was the best option. Sadly, 129,000–226,000 people lost their lives, and many more in the future, because of the effects the bombs caused, but those 226,000 gave their lives to make a better future, where Japan is a developed nation, one of the most prosperous countries on earth. And yes, in a perfect world, the Japanese would have surrendered with the American's demands, thus no nuclear bombs were dropped. But in the same sentiment, in a perfect world, they would never have involved themselves in the war. But we live in a world where they attacked Pearl Harbor, where they invaded British Malaya, the Dutch East Indies, French Indo-China, and China. A world where they didn't take the American's demands until the Soviets invaded Manchuria, and the nukes were used, and a month later would surrender to the Americans.

All we can do now is hope that there will never be a wartime use of a nuke ever again, and that the world has learned from the mistakes made in Japan, by every power in that war. Anyway, that's just what I think with what happened and with the knowledge I have.

How does kneeling during the national anthem fight against anything, I am not saying that there isn't racism ofcourse there is but I would'nt say it's "systemic".

I dunno... I mean invading Japan would've been much harder and bloody, but the bombs ruined so many peoples lives.

Hello!
I am New Lizhou, and I’m the masters member of The Free Nations!

My nation is based in present-day Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Hainan which makes me lucky China (at least, the PRC) doesn’t exist 200 years from now (when my nation does) because if they did I would be obliterated in a matter of minutes.

You’ll notice that our policies are aimed to provide as many liberties and possible to individuals, but we are sceptical of corporations and the tax rate is very high. In addition to this, employment is at al all-time low, so I need to work to fix those problems. We also highly value environmental responsibility. We used to have a space program but scrapped it after we realised it simply wasn’t worth it, and we put majority of the money that would’ve gone into space into taking care of our land instead.
We have almost no military, and almost always settle disputes diplomatically, because it’s one thing to say war is stupid and another thing to act on it.

Also, if you ever visit, don’t be surprised to see naked people walking around.

Personally, I’m based in Hong Kong (I rather not talk about what’s going on here) and I like trains (asdfmovie fans?), music, minecraft, and not dying.

I’m excited to start a new life here in the Free Nations!

Hi, I just joined TFNR, one of the things which inspired me to move here is the lovely map. Although I am not ready at this time to commit to RP.

I have a general idea as to what my nation is supposed be, a liberal democracy with a good balance between political, personal and economical freedom. I'm still exploring where I want to go with this nation especially culturally.

As for me, I'm based in Norway and my interests include cars and motor sports (Formula 1!), playing GTA Online on Xbox, and traveling which sadly I have limited opportunities to do right now.

Thanks for having me, and I'm looking forward to playing with you all.

Good Point.

Good lord, the last WA resolution made a serious dent in disposable income; everyone's average income went down, the taxation went up.

Ugh those are all things that are already too low/high in my nation...

Fantastic! Welcome! We have a good and active RP! Whenever your ready to commit to it you can always send in your map application. Tons of info more can always be found in The Roleplay Paradise.

But most importantly, I reccomend all new player (including New Lizhou) to join our Discord! That's where we are most active and we do a lot of fun stuff. Today for example we have the Late Nite Festival where Emaha and I will be hosting games. Come on over and we'll show you! :)
