10,000 Islands is governed by the Council of Nine, made up of a Chief Executive, an elected Delegate and four elected Senators, and three appointed Ministers. The Council votes on legislation, embassy openings and closures, and other matters as required by the Chief Executive.

AxeCapital and the team of XKI Roleplay Commissioners have put together a deep and complex narrative of terror, politics, environmental catastrophe, and interstellar warfare. Anti-terrorist factions, made up of nations new to RP as well as old hands, have risen up to retake the territories seized by Al-Caeda, Kalatova, and Committee for Charity and Solidarity.

We reached out to these terrorist leaders to get their viewpoint on the war between Krystalveil and Margaux, the Green Sky catastrophe which turned Terra’s sky a sickly green, the dimensional portal which annihilated half the world’s population, and their plans. They had this to say in response:

Al Caeda (The Wave’s questions are in bold):
What are the goals of your organization? Who is in charge?
"I, Usama II bin Laden, am the current leader of Al-Caeda. We are freedom fighters for the people and fundamentally oppose Monarchies. We will save the world from these royal tyrants!"
What is your take on the war between Krystalveil and Margaux and the Green Sky catastrophe? How can we guard against the side effects of additional superweapons used by these two empires?
"Let those Imperials kill each other. We will kill whoever remains of the two."
For the leaders of those groups involved in the creation of the portal, what was your goal in creating the portal? Did you intend to annihilate half the population of the solar system, or was that a side effect you simply took advantage of? Now that you have control over so much territory, what are next goals?
Those who perished were infidels and deserved to be decimated. The territories we control are the will of the people, we will not stop until the entire planet and the rest of the solar system fall under our control. Those who stand in our way will face certain death!“

In response to our queries, Kalatova issued a pre-recorded monologue via radio:
The radio is in static silence as there is no response at the table. However, a weak prerecorded signal eventually reaches. in a monologued voice.
'History...history is not made by perfecting the present. Practically no one remembers that the Germans invented a slightly better fighter plane during this time, that time, bla bla bla...History is, how do I put this ...special. History, is made by shaping the future. Think of, let's say, the Reich. They were indisputably bad. But... they accomplished feats no one had done before, and left a permanent mark on history. They invented something the world had never seen, and yet, it succeeded. Sure, not all ideas are winners, but - execute it well - you can change the world. You don't listen when you're told to 'think outside the box' due to how confusing it seems. Yet, that's the world. Napoleon didn't conquer Europe because he had many men. Hannibal wasn't remembered because the Romans were absolute buffoons. They won ...because they innovated the way things were. They knew how to play the game, and they were damn good at it. So, try to take every opportunity you can, because the world ...changes.
A small sigh is heard in the noise of the background.
You know, there's one more quote I found, and it's kind of grown on me. 'Fear is a hammer. And with a solid hammer, and a couple nails...you can build an empire. Or pry away at the pieces that just...don't...fit. The nails don't know what they're making, whether it's good, or bad...they just know the weight of the hammer.'
The radio returns to silence.
Al-Caeda has been heavily engaged by forces of the Anti-Terrorist Coalition of Defense (ACOD) with Pantso and Wille-Harlia coordinating attacks on one flank while Second Peenadian holds the line on the other. Al-Caeda has recently ceded some ground to Wille-Harlian forces. We had a chance to speak with ACOD’s leader, Macrasetia, who released this statement:

“*Since I'm technically in charge of ACOD, I think it's a good idea to promote my ultimate alliance on the Breaking Wave:)
Basically, ACOD (Anti-Terrorist Coalition of Defense) is like an alliance that assures mutual defense of members. You have freedom to do whatever you want, there's no saying 'You may not attack the terrorists until you go through 20 sets of paperwork', so go crazy if you want to;)
*As for the war between Krys and Margaux, I honestly have no take because my nation is actually kind of a Switzerland. Advice: Just don't use superweapons.
*The way I'm dealing with this stuff is classified, but I do plan to explore the portal in the far far future.”
As of this writing the Wave has not yet received a response from the leadership of other factions.
Al-Caeda is not the only terrorist faction under siege; AxeCapitals’ “Terra Alliance for National and Global Order” (TANGO) has engaged Kalatova. Separate operations by AxeCapital, The Galactic American Imperium, Zebastani, and The World Defense Organization threaten Kalatova as well.

The Joint Task Force - Operation Swift Justice (JTF-OSJ) has not been silent either, with leader Transisrael and South Adria beginning Operation Shining Light and ramping up production of warfighting materiel.

A Taco Paradise Transitions to Frontier

After a long wait and a great deal of planning, A Taco Paradise has officially become a frontier! Reinforcements from TITO and XKI’s allies helped to shore up defenses during the transition to guarantee a smooth transition, and coast watchers carefully followed raider movement to make sure there would be no surprises.

When asked for comment, XKI’s Chief Executive Markanite responded “I'd like to thanks Lenlyvit, TITO Command, our Ministry of Immigration and all the Regional Officers of A Taco Paradise for their hard work to build up the region. A lot of work has gone into it and we all really appreciate it. Thank you to all the citizens in ATP and XKI who make this community so great !”

His Excellency Parsend has officially taken the role as Governor.

The House Cup competition has fueled a strong recruiting drive, with XKI adding dozens of new nations in both 10000 Islands and A Taco Paradise in just a few weeks. In January alone the recruiting team sent over 2,000 telegrams, with Jabberwocky, the new Deputy Minister for Immigration, far and away leading the count with over 1500.

Recruiters are competing for the honor of their House. The House with the most recruits during the drive will win the coveted House Cup to display as a trophy in their own Hall until the end of time. Recruiters also earn Tacos for their efforts as well as awards and badges to display on their own Proboards forum profile.

The 10,000 Islands congratulates several of its citizens and residents this month for their accomplishments:
~ Jabberwocky, of the House of the Defenders, has been named Deputy Minister of Immigration, helping MoI Aschente with recruiting new nations and advertising for the recruiting team on the RMB.

The Mortimer Report is a summary of financial activity, including payouts for Islander investments, stocks, and any events that may have impacted these investments. It is released by the Regional Reserve each month and covers the previous month’s activities.

The Rich List is a ranking of the most valuable Islander accounts, in Tacos, including both terrestrial and celestial assets. To make the rich list, start earning Tacos by taking a job that pays Tacos, participating in contests, and taking advantage of Taco Islands Charities generous incentives for new nations. ~ The House Cup competition continues for several more days, until the 19th of February, with the winner announced on Leap Day, February 29. The House Cup is awarded to the House that recruits the most new members during the time allotted.
