The State of Tiend is a titanic, socially progressive nation, ruled by the Governor with an even hand, and remarkable for its burgeoning deer population. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 21.791 billion Tiendians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Administration, and Welfare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Capital Heights. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 12.9%.

The strong Tiendian economy, worth 995 trillion betales a year, is led by the Pizza Delivery industry, with major contributions from Trout Farming, Gambling, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 45,678 betales, with the richest citizens earning 9.4 times as much as the poorest.

Elderly citizens regularly buy posh multimillion-betale mansions, the poor are forced into bankruptcy by their energy bills, sports journals are full of uplifting puff-pieces on professional boxers, and newspapers are celebrating the Governor saving over a million cats from trees. Crime is a problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Tiend's national animal is the deer.

Tiend is ranked 247,156^th in the world and 1^st in Vietnam for Safest, scoring 31.56 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
