The Holy Empire of Sangarika is a small, genial nation, remarkable for its state-planned economy, restrictive gun laws, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, cynical, devout population of 45 million Sangarikans are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Education, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 75.1%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The struggling Sangarikan economy, worth 937 billion baht a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Trout Farming, Book Publishing, and Furniture Restoration. Average income is 20,828 baht, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Priests are being drafted by the church load, dogs are encouraged to confront the psychodynamic roots of their desire to be "good boys", a five-year-old and a convicted terrorist can sit alongside one another in jury service, and the most notorious criminals are given the Consequences of Your Actions Award. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sangarika's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Sangarika is ranked 209,716th in the world and 8th in Asia for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -2.79 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
