The Kiravian Colony of New Karton is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, renowned for its compulsory military service, suspicion of poets, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 27.119 billion New Kartonians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized government prioritizes Law & Order, with Defense, Spirituality, and Healthcare also on the agenda, while Environment and Social Policy aren't funded at all. The average income tax rate is 25.1%.

The strong New Kartonian economy, worth 968 trillion green saars a year, is quite specialized and led by the Uranium Mining industry, with significant contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture, Arms Manufacturing, and Automobile Manufacturing. Average income is 35,689 green saars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.4 times as much as the poorest.

The nation is ravaged by daily union strikes, major cities are suffering under water rationing, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, and police spend their Saturday nights breaking up illegal street races. Crime, especially youth-related, is almost non-existent, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. New Karton's national animal is the colonycat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

New Karton is ranked 161,401^st in the world and 2^nd in Colonia for Most Developed, scoring 55.17 on the Human Development Index.
