The Federal Republic of Macedale is a titanic, safe nation, ruled by Myla with a fair hand, and notable for its national health service, ban on automobiles, and irreverence towards religion. The compassionate, democratic population of 10.927 billion Macedaleans are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Welfare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Aurora. The average income tax rate is 91.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but underdeveloped Macedalean economy, worth 461 trillion paxis a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector is solely comprised of the Book Publishing industry. State-owned companies are the norm. Average income is 42,270 paxis, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Census workers struggle to account for the rapidly increasing number of citizens to tabulate, increasing inclusiveness is a sign of the times, vegetables are crisper thanks to CRISPR, and calls to prayer are the newest dog whistles. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Macedale's national animal is the red fox, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Macedale is ranked 15,642^nd in the world and 906^th in Osiris for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 3,947.64 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
