The Free Land of A Rainy Day is a mammoth, efficient nation, remarkable for its frequent executions, parental licensing program, and irreverence towards religion. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 9.48 billion Rainy Dayians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The relatively small, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Industry. The average income tax rate is 14.9%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The thriving Rainy Dayian economy, worth 975 trillion rubles a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, broadly diversified black market in Tourism, Uranium Mining, Arms Manufacturing, and Woodchip Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 102,911 rubles, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.3 times as much as the poorest.

A full moon at night lets economists sleep tight, teams of painters are converting road signs from horse lengths to kilometers, sheepish teenagers are making eye contact with their parents for the first time in a decade during state-enforced 'no-phones hour', and most believe it doesn't hurt to embrace free trade. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. A Rainy Day's national animal is the bison, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

A Rainy Day is ranked 202,338th in the world and 14th in Art by Sam Yang for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 861.25 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
