The County of Los Angeles of Montandi-Cisalpina is a mammoth, safe nation, ruled by Hilda Solis with an even hand, and remarkable for its zero percent divorce rate, keen interest in outer space, and suspicion of poets. The quiet, industrious population of 8.417 billion Angelenos are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Healthcare, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Los Angeles. The average income tax rate is 68.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but inefficient Angeleno economy, worth 318 trillion US Dollars a year, is quite specialized and led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Tourism, and Gambling. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 37,845 US Dollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Former stunt pilots are unable to pass the licence test to fly a drone, students who do not recite the national anthem each morning have to drop and give their teacher 50, clerics are taught that silence is golden and duct tape is silver, and bowls of milk left on windowsills please fairies and passing cats alike. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Montandi-Cisalpina's national animal is the California Grizzly, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Montandi-Cisalpina is ranked 231,486^th in the world and 422^nd in Starlight for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -4.56 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
