A war story from Bertie Gordon, a veteran of the Rhodesian war with Canadian Dominion of 1970.

It was mid-1970 and we were stationed at Bulawayo with what was once known as the selous Scouts, now the North Rhodesian Rifles. I was only 16 at the time and we were completely alone. The Canadian regiment, whose name I cannot remember, had just dug in around Bulawayo and they were preparing for a siege.

Our general, general Alex turnhill, was confident that we could face the Canadians.

So on the third day he ordered an advancement towards the Canadian artillery, I was amongst those who were ordered to advance. I remember quite vividly the screech of the artillery shells and the screaming... The unending howling... Nevertheless, I continued and then a great darkness overcame me and I remember feeling numbness, then I woke up on a hospital bed, aged 16, with one leg amputated...

Me gusta el liberalismo :)
