Your former counter-argument was that it shouldn't be a crucial topic for US politics. However, US position in the international stage provides it with benefits for its citizens (for now). This position relies less on military power exercised directly by the US and more on trust that the US fulfills it's promises. The Commonwealth, EU and Japan have kept cordial trade relations with the US because it's been a reliable ally since 1941.
The post-poning of the Bill and the attempt to subvert Israelis defense of their country has already shaken that foundation in 2024. While not policies of Trump, my employment in IntSec leads me to believe that policies under him would be more detrimental.

This in turn should not be seen as an ideological position. Regardless of ideology, I do not wish to see either the GOP nor the DNC compromised by foreign actors.

Might I add, the President Biden blocked the aid shipment is Israel and the house passed another bill to override it and Biden said he would veto it.
