The water was cold as ice and a small sheet of sleet was spread across the shallow shores of Graznei. The large Nyx Class Battleships smashed through any icy waters with relative ease as that was the perks of living in an arctic wasteland and building most of their equipment for it. The sky was a hazy gray and the snow fell down gently. The blizzard had ended and it was time to sail in.

"Ready the anchor. Hold fast!" Yes the crew chief. The large, burly man with a scar across his cheek raised his arm and the marines followed. The ship turned to port side and dropped anchor. The ships in tow followed suit and sat in the ocean a couple kilometers across the water. They were in gun range of the coasts but no batteries would be fired today.

"All hands prepare to disembark. I repeat all hands prepare ro disembark" the radio comms shouted over their comms sirens. Soldiers and marines both ran around the ship trying to get in formation as they would board small vessels to take them to shore. One man with long blonde hair and an eye patch yawned and stretched his arms. He wore a black suit with the top buttons undone and no tie. Over his shoulders, he draped a long, fur lined black, military overcoat. It draped over his dress shirt like a Cape.

"Sigh....I forgot how noisy these things can be" he grumbled to himself. The man in his late 30s got up and scratched the stubble on his chin and jaw. He took out a cigarette as he walked down the deck to lead his men onto the vessels. With a small zap of electricity between two fingers, the cigarette was lit and perched between his lips. He breathed out a cool cloud of tobacco and smoke.

"So grudge river huh. This ought to be interesting. I heard a lot of their people froze to death or went missing" a corporal said. "Well I heard they all got killed by monsters" another soldier whispered. "No, no. The monsters froze to death" a sergeant added. Worick shook his head and walked past them. The three immediately saluted their superior officer as he smiled.

"History will say that they died by our hands. Not the cold winters hands" he joked. He put a finger up to his lips and made a "shhh" gesture. Worick Lacienega stood in front of his men and stretched his arms. He smelled like alcohol.

"Alright boys and girls. We're in the waters of Grudge river. An icy hell hole to the world. Much like our homeland am I right?" He joked. The men laughed as he joined in on the laughter. "Alright settle down" he raised his arms at them.

"So far the world lost contact with this place so that means we're moving in and setting up shop. Anything you find is ours. Anyone getting in your way? You know the works" he explained. He made a finger gun gesture. "Bang". He smirked.

"Well, let's get this Grain"

The sanadan marines of the 3rd marine battalion boarded the vessels along with soldiers of the 56th Mechanized division of the Sanadan Army. The vessels were loaded up and began to sail through the sleet and water. It was eerily quiet besides the soft motors of the vessels. Soldiers and marines stood and sat in their ships quietly. Gripping their rifles and relaxing. The cold was calming to them. It reminded them of home. Worick looked out at the coasts of grudge river. He fixed his long ponytail into a messy bun and let his bangs hang down.

"Something feels off about this place. I don't know what....but it just feels off" he mumbled to himself. He took his gloves off and his hands began emitting very faint and small static surging around his hands. "Guess this time calls for the gloves off" he said. He spit his cigarette out and awaited the ride to be over.

The coast was clear and the numerous ships docked. History has lost count of how many times Sanadan ships had landed on foreign coasts throughout SR. Out of all the nations in the world, sanada has the longest history of combat. They knew everytime that with every landing, it may be their last as it was always a calm before the storm.

The soldiers got out cautiously. Awaiting any enemy artillery or gunfire....but there was none. Not a bullet or snap. The soldiers got out of their ships and began to walk slowly along the cold beach. Their sounds of rifles shuffling, the waves and boots were the only sounds. The men got into their assigned formations and groups and began to approach over the hill before coming upon a city.

"What the hell happened...."

The sanadans clad in dark gray trench coats, gas masks and helmets all walked towards the city. Not a sound was made and not a soul in sight. The troops came upon frozen bodies and those whose skin had turned blue and left to freeze to death. This would become a common occurrence the more they ventured into the city.

"Its like something out of a horror movie" replies one private through his gas mask. "Yeah....what the hell happened here?" Another asked. "Quit your chatter and keep moving" a sergeant corrected them. They nodded and readied their AK74s and AK103s. A whole force of 500 men had walked through the first few blocks of the city, separated into three forces to cover more ground.

"Boss, I dont like the feeling of this place" a commissar reported. Worick nodded. "Me neither. It's way too quiet and way too desolate. It's like something came here and killed them all or they ran from something" worick commented. The force would keep going into the city.
