Mikalans Set up More Relations; Reach Out to Neighbors and Possible Allies

During the current first summit of the TDCP, Prime Minister Fortín remarked on "the great advantages of reaching out to other nations and creating alliances such as this". After this, it was announced that the Mikalan nation would begin strengthening ties with neighbors and allies (mainly TDCP nations).

Ambassadors Announced:

After some deliberation in Parliament, PM Fortín's nominees for ambassadors have been voted on.

Ambassador to Doctors Orvos:

The Parliament approved (388 aye, 112 nay) Tomas Milenevich as Ambassador to Doctors Orvos. Mr. Milenenvich is a career diplomat who was served as ambassador to several nations.

Ambassador to United state of ancolia:

The Parliament approved (456 aye, 44 nay) Leutos Eulatzgi as Ambassador to Ancolia. Mr. Eultazgi has Ancolian citizenship and has worked there as a representative of Mikal in the past.

Embassy Exchanges:

Mikal would like to exchange embassies with the following nations:

Europan Union

Eluthania

Kiamai

In Other News:

It was announced today that Second Minister Lukas Petrović would be visiting Doctors Orvos to establish more ties and "create stronger relations with the new TDCP member". Also visiting is Finance Minister Nikolas Ianavich and the new ambassador to Doctors Orvos, Tomas Milenevich.

Ever since the free trade ports in Denolia were set up, the Swarben Tea Company saw gigantic profit margins as Mikalans bought vast quantities of tea. Even in the last month, Swarben's stock prices in Mikal tripled, showing the incredible popularity the company has gained.

At the moment, the vote is tied between staying neutral and supporting the MSTO in their fight against the League of Tyranny. The Mikalan nation and Obets have voted to back the fight against the LoT, while Tetoban and Kastagistan have voted to remain neutral in the growing conflict. Depending on United state of ancolia's vote (they are the last member of the Department of Cooperative Defense who has not voted yet), the TDCP could be brought into war, or stay at peace.

OOC: It is Mikal. It isn't a big deal, though. People usually think it is spelled Mikala. Also my nation is not an empire (just so you know), it has former imperial history.

The Foreign Office has finished resetting their systems after a massive crash that forced the Office to temporarily halt foreign relations and send home all embassies. The Kingdom of Eluthania is ready to welcome a new batch of ambassadors from the international community who are interested in establishing much stronger connections with Eluthania.

Parties and Political Leaders in OUR Denounce Ban on Communism, Many Confused on Why People Are Happy with This Major Restriction on Political Freedoms

In the OUR the Communist, Socialist, and Unionist-Workers parties, including Megan Ryles (a Populist) herself have come out publicly denouncing the ban on Communism in neighboring Kiamai. Left-Wing and Far-Left advocates have gathered at the Kiamai-Obets border for a protest. Although, they know that it will do nothing because they are in different countries. Many parties have brought up ideas for bills in the parliament that will preserve the right to anyone establishing a political party (while still following the no-violence rule however.)

"Any ban on a political party is bad anywhere. This ban on communism is an insult to workers and the lower class around the world. People have the right to believe in a socialist society, or a communist economic system, and just because you think it is wrong doesn't mean it should be banned. Doing this on labor day is an insult to workers around the world." The Ban will not Change

In response to the protests on the border, the Imperial Army has been ordered to close the Obets-Kiamai Border effective until next week. Empress Molly has released the following statement:
“The ban on Communism shall not be lifted. The attempts of Communists trying to incite mass violence and rioting is an insult to this country, and to prevent it, we have banned Communism. This Country has tolerated Communism for too long, and its attempts to drag this country down a dark path. The Ban will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.”
Mary Sherman, a Conservative Politician, has also pointed the overwhelming majority of Parliament and the Population wanted to ban Communism for a long time. The Imperial Military has been put on Red Alert in case tensions rise to the point a Conflict breaks out and Obets attacks. The Imperial Military has been given the order to not shoot unless shot at.

The Imperial Government, after hearing the denouncing, has made the following reply: “All denounces will be ignored. We are not changing the ban. This will continue into the foreseeable future, and there is nothing anyone can do to change it.”
Military Drills have been increased, and the Imperial Navy has been ordered to turn away any ship coming from Novostia for at least 1 week. This number is expected to change. Civilians have come out in protest against communism, stating it is a “moral evil” which must be “wiped off the planet” and are “glad the darkness has been banished” from Kiamai. Some Former Communist Party Members have come out in support of the ban as well.

First Period of Growth Concludes
Ever since the National Growth Commission was created, tasked with overseeing and executing the modernization and industrialization of Denolia, the NGC was given the remaining days of April to used extra powers given to it to give Denolia “a head start” so to speak. Here are the results of the this first Period of Growth.

Transportation Infrastructure : The NGC, in the name of the Interregional Infrastructure Act, began worked on a system of roads between the various parts of Denolia, named the National Roadway Network. The current plans of the network consist of 14 main roads (NRs), of which 4 (NR-2, NR-5, NR-9, and NR-11) have been completed. NR-2 is by far the largest of these roads, wrapping around the southern and eastern borders of the Bergental Region, and from where many other NRs will connect.
Despite the fact that only 4 roads have been completed, the amount of work done on both completed and incomplete roads shows that the NGC has made much progress in such a short amount of time, with NGC commissioners predicting that the National Roadway Network will be completed “sometime within two months, depending on various factors.”

Educational Infrastructure : In the name of the Academic Growth Act, the NGC has finished the construction of 5 major universities, alongside numerous other low-level schools. 4 of the 5 universities are located within the Bergental Region, but the last one is located in the southern tip of the Ridenfeld Region, in order to incentivize Denolians to move to the Ridenfeld Region.
These schools show great promise for the younger citizens of Denolia, and will be the first step to building an academic class for Denolia. The NGC has plans to build more schools in the Vergen and the Blogen Regions as well.

Agrarian Infrastructure : In the name of the Windmill and Grain Act, the National Growth Commission has created a large area in the more northern reaches of the Bergental Region (with some parts in the Ridenfeld Region as well) informally known as the “Windmill District.” Here, the NGC has both bought and built windmills throughout the valleys and meadows of this area, as well as cooperating with (or nationalizing in rarer cases0 independent business.
The Windmill District is to be used by the Food Distribution Commission to farm wheat, grind grain, and other such related food activities, which will then be sold into the free market of Denolian cooperatives. The sheer size of this area alone gives promise of feeding millions of Denolians.

Land Ownership and Distribution : This was not actually, formally worked on by the National Growth Commission, but rather the Peasantry’s Land Commission.
As stated in the Land Redistribution Act, the PLC is tasked with the redistribution of land, formally owned by feudal lords, plutocrats, and other such figures, to the general populace of Denolia. The PLC reports that redistribution has been going smoothly, with the peasants and former serfs of Denolia putting their newfound private property to good use, using it to either farm or build community projects.
However, the PLC also states that there is still much land to be given, sold, or auctioned off to the people.

This first Period of Growth has gone extraordinarily well, and has shown that the Union of Denolia might prove to be an effective government that will bring Denolia into a more developed, equal, and freer state of society. However, there is still much work to be done if there is any hope to become truly modernized, and there is stiller an incredibly high chance of a second Period of Growth being called sometime soon.

Other News

As has been covered recently, there has been infighting between two minor parties, that has recently turned to violence. The two parties in question are the Democratic Communist Party of Denolia (DCPD; Reformist, More Libertarian, Pro-Government) and the Revolutionary Communist Party of Denolia (RCPD; Revolutionary and Violent, Very Authoritarian, Anti-Government).

The violence has been taking the form of RCPD members harassing and assaulting DCPD members and facilities, sometimes turning to full on riots. As such, the DCPD has called upon the government to take the RCPD to trial and ban them.
Just today, The Federal Government announced plans to put the leadership of the RCPD on Trial for various charges related to coordinated assault, attempted murder, and general violence and disturbance of the peace.

The DCPD has also received much more attention and support from the drama, which will more than likely aid them in their bids for the June Midterm Elections. The DCPD has even manage to attract a few minor Union Party politicians to change parties, and has announced their intentions to ally with the Union Party next election.

During a regular interview between President-Bishop William Blumvál and the media, the President-Bishop made an offhand comment about the situation with Kiamai and their ban on Communism:

“Now, I will have to admit that I am not personally well vested in the history of Kiamai, and I also have to say that I don’t necessarily consider myself a communist, but their ban of communism as an ideology seems questionable at best.
Now, banning specific parties or groups would be more defendable, but banning an entire ideology in such a blanket move seems unwise at best. I mean, hell, communism doesn’t even necessarily mean one thing; the conflict between the DCPD and the RCPD shows that well enough! *laughs*

But, seriously, from what we know of the Kiamai Communism Ban and their reactions to the condemnations, to us, shows that they are easily at risk at becoming a new form of dictatorship all together.”

When asked further about the issue, President-Bishop Blumvál declined to discuss it any more. It is unknown if the federal government as a whole will take any official actions or positions on the issue.

The Ban Remains

The Imperial Government, continuing to hear complaints from the international community, has made the following statement:
“This is the last statement on the matter. This ban was proposed at the request of civilians, and democratically voted on by Parliament. By no means does this display any sign of dictatorship. For it to be a dictatorship, action would’ve been taken by one single person. This ban shall continue into the foreseeable future, once again. When taken a look back, Communists have attempted to destroy this Nation via attempted riots, violence, attempted revolution, and we have finally democratically taken action at the request of the people of this land. Once again, the civilian population proposed this to Parliament, and a Democratic Election was held. This is an example of democracy, not dictatorship.”
The Imperial Military has been given orders to ban flights and ships to and from Denolia for at least one week, worrying about Denolia taking Military Action.
