Official Portrait of Prime Minister Raúl das Neves (1956)
Nevesism
Nevesism (Estandér: Nevesismo) was the governing communist ideology implemented in the First Republic of Estandé during and after Prime Minister Raúl das Neves' term, later cemented by his apprentice Prime Minister Artur-Emilio Fontes. Neves held great regard towards other communist sects, however, he viewed them as foolish for advocating a worldwide revolution that, to him, would cause the imminent downfall of communism. According to Neves in his manifesto, "the global revolution that is often preached in the workers' ideologies is doomed to fail, and therefore further the growth of capitalism. For communism to succeed, state matters must first take precedence and the people must be happy within a communist country. Through global revolution would communism fall, for it is the workers' and peoples' choice to establish communism as the governing idea of countries." During his six-year tenure as senator, Neves observed the inept attempts by communist regimes to spread the ideology, therefore causing the ideology to not take hold within other countries, eventually replaced by another ideology after some years. Thus, because of Nevesism, plans to wage war with the fledgling Sierran Republic were scrapped as, initially, these plans were motivated by the goal to spread communism and bring a global revolution.

Neves was authoritarian in his governance and believed that socialism was one of the pillars of a utopian society free from bourgeois oppression and internal struggles caused by ideological differences. He established Estandé as a semi-autarkic state, prioritising self-sufficiency over globalist trade. He believed that the population would thrive just with the bare minimum, and that was of sustenance, happiness, purpose and equality. For only under sustenance will the person be happy, for being happy does a person have a purpose, and through purpose, equality, both cultural and economic, is achieved. Nevesism is paternalistic in nature, a description also within Neves' manifesto; restrictive and authoritarian ideals give way to a stable state, but the state must not be oppressive nor indifferent to the people's plight, especially to the worker.

Unlike his future successor, Neves was not a militant atheist, as it went against his paternalistic ideas. Only were the clergy and the religious prosecuted after his tenure, as, although his successors were self-described Nevesists, they did not hold paternalism as a core Nevesist idea. After his rule, paternalism was no longer a part of the Nevesist ideology, and it was morphed into an authoritarian and, by moderate terms, oppressive ideology. Paternalism gradually returned as a core belief of Nevesism and Nevesists today are closer to Prime Minister Neves' communism than even past self-proclaimed Nevesists that emerged after his tenure.

Neves sounds like Francisco Franco, António de Oliveira Salazar or Omar Torrijos. A true Iberian dictator :)
That definition of Nevesismo is the same as that of Spanish nacionalsindicalismo IRL (Franco's ideology), only that it did not accept socialism as such but practiced its ideas, and promoted to the clergy, but from there it is very similar.

Gran Yucanoa wrote:Okay I’m gonna double post, cringe I know, barf or gag or make grossed out noises here please, but here’s the first problem you run into- you all have very distinct styles, I will admit there’s some overlap, specifically the dark/gritty maps I’ve seen for stuff like HOI4 mods, not a bad thing it actually looks really cool, but again you guys have very distinct styles so that’s your first problem. Second I assume none of you have super worked with each other on maps before so we already are running into two walls. So… yeah… I’m still gonna vote but this is hard.

So what do people do here?

It really depends on what your want out of your NS experience. As for NS as a whole, some people like to just answer issues, and that's totally okay. But, if you're looking for other things to do, you can trade cards on the card trading portion of the site, you can have friendly chats with people here in TEP RMB or you can roleplay with other nations (go to war, form alliances, establish trading or embassies), you can go on the NS forums and discuss matters there, you can sign up for WA and vote on worldwide issues, or you can sign up for executive roles for TEP too!
