Military Operation Announced, Troops Move into Sulasburg
Following the second attack yesterday on the Venoanese border perpetrated by Suleonese forces, the Venoanese Parliament and military command have elected, in an emergency meeting yesterday evening, to begin a military operation into the neighboring regions of Sulasburg to better secure Venoanos borders against Erl'u. The Minister of Defense had this to say as the assembly dispersed:
"Sulasburg has proven themselves completely incapable in enforcing their own borders as is expected of any nation, and could be argued as being even complicit in the recent wave of border attacks on Venoano. It is for this reason that we have decided to undertake a military operation to occupy the Sula border-regions ourselves. We as the military want to assure the public that we have put in place a strict rules of engagement as well as welcomed foreign observers to the conflict, in order to minimize any Sula civilian damages. But we will NOT remain on the weary defensive while our borders are battered and our neighbors shrug."
This historic move marks the breaking of Venoanos symbolic military neutrality, though the government has assured that "our long-standing policy of neutrality is something we wish to return to following this operations cessation". Regardless, the move has been met with mixed reactions, but has generally been celebrated by the public in light of the two recent attacks.
The military operation began at 1:00 AM, and an estimated initial ten thousand troops of the Venoanese Army have been mobilized and deployed as the main force of the operation. The White House Situation Room watches the mass suicides take place in sheer horror and upset.
