- FUJIMA — A shocking announcement this morning, when Erimea's government donated four aircraft carriers—completely free of charge—to Madrinpoor, alongside 16 fighter jets, also free of charge. This means that Madrinpoor, which previously had only one small patrol boat in its Coast Guard, now has a navy larger than nearly all countries on earth.
The news was met with enthusiasm by jingoistic Madris, and a crowd of nearly 12,000 showed up at Macarthur-Zinjoshu military base in Fujima to see the unloading, where nearly 87,000 Erimean soldiers are stationed. Mayor Ako Morimasu praised the donation, calling it "A...surprising boost to Madrinpoor's defense and law enforcement forces, and a welcome one" and thanked the "[Erimean] government for giving us such a wonderful gift. Response from others was more negative, however. Councilman Sato Numorisi, known for defeating the bill to construct a canal through low-income housing projects in his district, and a prominent opposition figure, has called it "An expensive show of blind loyalty" and remarked that "Madrinpoor has absolutely no practical use for these weapons of war." The Madrinpoor GREEN! movement (Grassroots Resistance to Environmental Exploitation Now!) and the Doves of Asia, an anti-war group, have reportedly begun planning a protest for the day the new ships and planes are to be unveiled, later this month.
Major concerns are the fact that Madrinpoor has, as of now, no defense budget and the smallest military in the Liberal Democratic Union. Chitral has donated 10 trillion rupees to Madrinpoor for the "development of a strong military", which will be used for maintenance and training. The MDP, Madrinpoor Police Department, has stated in conjunction with the Mayor's office that one of the aircraft carriers would go to a portable launch and retrieval site for space missions. Meanwhile the government is scrambling to hire and train pilots and sailors, many of whom are expats living in Japan. Environmental concerns have been discussed too, as the equipment would consume massive amounts of oil. Despite these new developments, many Madris, including the majority of the legislature, still wish to have a small army. In fact, only 12% of Madris support the creation of a battle-ready interventionist army, according to a poll by Madrinpoor Political Centre, a think tank.

The national government has just captured the largest terrorist in the country who led at least 5 armed groups opposed to the government.
This is Mr. Henry Hebrard, 47, accused of terrorism, treason, murder, drug trafficking, human trafficking and illegal extraction of classified government information.
Mr. Henry was captured at a time when he was entering the national territory, through areas far from the guard posts, in a luxury yacht of 1.7 million dollars.
