Depends. German tanks have their ammoracks in their mid-back, which could defenitely be triggered. American 500lb bombs have some very heavy shrapnel, and ammoracks only need one hit to detonate. When I was playing the Tiger II, a J20 strafed me over my top, and the same thing happened. It either hit your hatch or richoched off the back.

russian tanks have their ammoracks right underneath the turret, so just aim between the turret and the hull, load HE, HESH or GAZ shells if you use swedish tanks, and boom.

The Shrapnel that set off the explosion was barely visible as it was kind of tiny. The explosion of the round was near me but not near enough for the bomb to hurt me. In other words I was untouched. Also that piece had to Pierce 17mm of armour on the roof, which some how did.
This was in a StuG III F.

500 lb (WW2) bombs can do a lot of damage, and have a huge blast range. Most attack aircraft can only carry two. They are more than capable of penning that distance. A 500 could pen a maüschen
