Whats the oldest Nation Still alive on here?
Depends on what you mean with "on here". On NationStates? It's difficult to tell because nations cease to exist if they aren't regularly logged into, but can be revived.
So. Oldest nation by founding date is difficult to tell, because there isn't a stat for that (or rather there isn't a ranking). And really old nations are listed with a founding date of "Antiquity", which doesn't tell us anything other than that they were founded before founding dates were recorded.
So, the best we can do is check which nation has the highest population. Given that population continually increases each day as long as the nation is alive, the nation with the highest population should have been alive the longest (it's still possible that it ceased to exist at some point and then came back, but in terms of overall activity, population should be a decent enough indicator). The census (page=list_nations?censusid=3) tells us that that is Kyupaa with a whooping 35.647 billion Kyupaans.
As for who the oldest nation in this region is: Sorted by population that's Grub, which is kind of unsurprising, but doesn't actually count because that nation has changed players in order to maintain the foundership. The next one up is Titanica, who has indeed been around since 2003. FUnnily enough it seems our ambassador from wysteria is older than Fleeb, whom I would have thought to be at least the second oldest.
I am saddened by the demise of this piece of technology. :(
happy valentines day
United new kalaytad federation, The texas faction, and Kuriko
wall-e will be missed
Opportunity will be missed. Also, the comic made me almost cry in public.
I really fail to see how deregulating drones would hurt my information technology sector.
Maybe people don't want to buy drones that are going to explode if they crash into something?
We have no computers but we've got a space program and WMDs. How's that possible?
ALIENS
The Issue
Recently, the Sheriff of Wolf County was shot dead, seemingly without any motive. Further investigation revealed that the shooter had legally purchased a gun two days before, but had a history of severe mental illness, psychotic breaks, and paranoid delusions. Now, the process of purchasing firearms is being questioned.
The Debate
4:
Caesar MacIntyre, editor of Socialist Kalraydas Magazine blows a raspberry at that idea. “What kind of nonsense is that? Letting the rich have all the power over the poor? I say that only the government is responsible enough to have access to firearms! That way, we can end capitalism and... wait, sorry, wrong proposal... I mean, we can end gun crime and make a safer nation!”
Accept
No no, continue, I wish to hear this other proposal of yours.
On a more serious note though, why the hell did banning domestic firearm sales drop my scientific advancement by 23, when since (and including) it's introduction scientific advancement only rose by 12? I mean seriously? Am I not allowed to have a highly scientifically advanced society without guns? Because that seems far more than a bit biased by the issue editors.
There's a petition to make today into a holiday celebrating the rover lmao, definitely better than valentines day so I signed it, everyone else should too.
https://www.change.org/p/nasa-petition-to-make-the-14th-of-february-into-oppy-remembrance-day?signed=true
edit: before anyone says anything, I know this won't do anything, heck you sign it anyways
Change.org... barely carries any weight...
I agree with you development in physics happened mainly in World War II.British navy become so powerful after invention of steam machines and they invested in geology more than ever.I think its so cool developers implements such small details in game.
Countless chemicals, materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies are a direct result of firearms research. Some people say the government should do all that R&D, but there's never been a government in the history of life that was efficient enough to keep up with private sector research. Without competition, there's less motivation for advancement.
Hakke are you capable of reading
Well, often the private laboratories are funded through government contracts. If the government needs a new rifle for the armed forces, they award contracts that are used for R&D to produce prototypes of that new rifle, and then contracts for the production of it. The first is all invested into R&D, and the profits from the second can also be invested into R&D.
If that's the case, then why didn't my scientific advancement rise further than 2 from opening domestic sales? This has basically said, alright, have a bunch of government funded arms companies to manufacture for you. Hey you just opened up limited domestic gun sales, some very minor new companies just sprang up in addition to the government corps who are now also starting to retool for some domestic sales. 2 weeks later, following an incredibly large amount of people doing stupid stuff and massive spike in crime rate, no more domestic sales are legal. Suddenly apparently almost every firearms company declares bankruptcy immediately, and destroys all of their new research data. Including the government owned, funded and developed data.
What I'm saying is, an incidental 2 point rise from allowing limited domestic gun sales (and a total of maybe 15 points rise collectively since guns became legal) should not immediately lead to losing 23 when those limited domestic sales are stopped.
I might have had this tab loaded a bit before I read and responded to your post. Hence, I never saw your edit
