Hi everyone,
You've all noticed the recent increase in toxicity within Thaecia, in most part due to ongoings within Thaecia's Discord server. This environment isn't conductive to a good community; we can't start arguments and burn bridges over every event. I have seen prominent members of the region leave due to conflict that wasn't even related to the actual happenings of the region itself, just due to members fighting with other members and causing a fallout.
As easy as it is to say that it's one specific person or group of person's fault for all of this toxicity, I simply don't think that's the case. What I think it is is the effect of real life crunching down on us. Many of us have gone back to school, and the stress of online classes or other drastic changes to in-person learning is bound to wear out anybody. I myself have had work and have not been as active as I wish I was to mediate these conflicts or put out statements like I did before, and I'm sure many others are facing both sources of stress at the same time. This is also combined with many other stressful factors, such as drastic and anxiety-inducing developments in politics (rest in peace RBG), the ongoing pandemic which is still affecting a lot of people, and the overall terrible series of events that is 2020.
It's easy right now to get burnt out from NationStates, and to want to leave and get away from all this. And I totally understand that. I think at the end of the day, we all need to remember that we are a community, and we all have a responsibility to do good by each other. We have to act in good faith, and we have to presume others in the region are acting in good faith. Otherwise the whole thing just all falls apart. At the same time, we also have to remember this is just a game, and it's not worth losing yourself over. Those heated debates shouldn't leak out into the rest of the region, and we all have to remember that there's other people behind the screen, all going through their own issues, and right now, dealing with a lot of the same things you are.
Maybe I'm just too invested at this point, but I don't want to split away from you guys. Being apart of Thaecia has made me so happy, because I know that whenever I'm having a terrible day and just want to let everything go, I remember all of you guys are here, so I can't, or else I'd be letting you all down. You make me want to be a better President, be a better admin, be a better person, so I can do right by all of you.
It's okay if you want to get away from Thaecia right now. It's okay if you need a break. But as I've said before and will always say, you always have a home here.
