The E-2 and the E-3 really can't be competed.
The E-2 Hawkeye is a small,propelled aircraft, It have its advantage of being on the Carrier. Which is why it being used, it also Propeller engine make it hardly noticable in the sky due to less sound. However it pack a different radar disk and its rather more agile and adaptive for it role as a mobile, carrier-based AWAC, The Merian Air Force operate both E-2 based-on and E-3 based-on.
However, as the Foreign Legion are a Indepedent military wing, it take times to transfer equipments from other branches into them.
