Welcome, welcome, welcome to "last weeks tonight"! I'm Orioni. Time now for a quick recap of the news.
1. NOTM. Did you enjoy the Trivia Challenge for April Fools? I sure did. Did you get that question about our next featured nation? No, no you didn't. Because that question wasn't in there. Do you know who IS in there? It's everyone's favourite tropical cousin Shffahkia. That's right. The Tetracameral Dictatorships is filled with Iron Fist Consumerists. Their favourite commodity, apparently, is trout fishing for which they ranking the worldwide top 1%. Despite being a dictatorship, they also perform well in World Assembly Endorsement (top 7%). Which is probably due to the widespread Ignorance (top 9% on Eurth). A confusing place in confusing times.

The first member to be featured in our new region. This month the honour goes to none other than Shffahkia, The Tetracameral Dictatorships is filled with Iron Fist Consumerists. The Tetracameral Dictatorships of Shffahkia is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Duncan Delacroix with an iron fist, and renowned for its compulsory military service, frequent executions, and punitive income tax rates. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.966 billion Shffahkians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."
The enormous, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ville de la Sfakie. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 67.3%.
The strong Shffahkian economy, worth 133 trillion Revolutionary Francs a year, is quite specialized and mostly made up of the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Arms Manufacturing, and Retail. Black market activity is frequent. Average income is 67,943 Revolutionary Francs, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 213,401 per year while the poor average 16,563, a ratio of 12.9 to 1.
Employers may fire workers without giving any reason, the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting, the newest shade developed by Shffahkia's dye industry has been dubbed 'Agent Orange', and snooze factory is now prison lingo for rehabilitation center. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Shffahkia's national animal is the Jaguar, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Culte Delacroix.
2. Activity. We've had a couple of new people join. Let me be the first to say: welcome noobs Adrashan and Metztlitlalio. Take your shoes off. Put on these indoor slippers. Leave all prior drama at the door. region=eurth
3. Map. Some really nice new maps were published.

4. Sports. Our 'Valiant Vertibirds' are still participating in the interregional football tournament. We won the last game against Right to Life by a score of 2-1. The boys attempted five goals and RTL attempted a total of seven. Some say the VV might not make it to the semi-finals. But who _really_ believes those negative nancies... page=dispatch/id=1165537
5. Oh and one more thing. We already talked about April Fools. But this year, we were lucky enough to get another surprise on April 2nd. Someone drank too much of the Kool-Aid and decided it'd be a fun idea to go and change the locks on all the doors. What a way to go... Naturally, because it was cold, we had to look elsewhere for shelter. I'd like to thank everyone who helped out carrying boxes to our new place at Eurth.
