Cynthia mckinney

I have the final say on foreign policy with my veto power. I will veto any attempt to violate the sovereignty of other regions.

Cynthia mckinney

I agree with repealing the Space Research Station.

Ignoring the fact that Cynthia McKinney holds no veto power, Bazlantis, you are correct that the DSA has elected not to participate in either raiding or in organizing a defender army. While we have previously encouraged those who would like to take action defending a region, we have not taken an active part in those efforts through the organization of force.

Genivar, there was no power play. I specifically stated that I support Bazlantis in his current role as WA Delegate. I appreciate all those who have supported me while I held that office and recognize I enjoyed it only at the sufferance of the regional members. My comment is related to a critique of behavior I felt unbecoming of a delegate, not an electoral plea.

The Space Research Station Repeal seems logical. The document creating it seems almost deliberately vague; that said, I am in favor of passing a new, more comprehensive and debated space station resolution.

Zizek-Debs votes for the repeal. Thank you.

Cynthia mckinney

The charter says I have veto power.

Its odd that Nava Siam has the most compassionate nation when their civil rights barely meet our minimum requirements.

Well, I don't think he is the most compassionate nation but rather has the most compassionate people.

A fabulous welcome to The Most Serene Republic of Laurnithica!

I think my puppet nation Subcomandante Marcos is being unjustly prevented from obtaining corrupted political freedoms because I had chosen a leader for my nation. Its also been stuck at World Benchmark on civil rights for a long time despite doing everything it can to improve civil rights.

The People of Splayd favor repealing the well-meaning but poorly-worded Space Research Station initiative.

So great an undertaking demands succinct language and clear purpose from beginning to end.

And, as it has been pointed out - not all nations have either the financial or technological means to participate.

The Nomadic Peoples of Histanbool would like to take note that they have voted to repeal it the Space Research Station initiative. They have come to this conclusion after they decided they care too much about our own nation and its needs-We do spend a lot of our GDP on welfare and education, and it would be best if our b33ns are put to bettering their own citizens. We fall into the category of not having the funds to pay for it.

We now have the power to delete RMB posts! HUZZAH!

Anyone else dig the new regional message saving?

** New World Assembly Resolution Notification **

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. Please feel free to express your opinion on the issue below in the RMB or telegram me personally. Every opinion matters so feel free to voice it and I will endeavor to place my 60-odd votes as your World Assembly Delegate in the way that the majority of the region wishes it me to.

The new resolution is called:
"The Repeal 'Space Research Station Program' Act"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation

Category: Repeal Resolution
Resolution Number: GA#115
Proposed by: Darenjo
Description:

"WA General Assembly Resolution #115: Space Research Station Program (Category: Education and Creativity; Area of Effect: Educational) shall be struck out and rendered null and void"

For full argument as for reason why see: page=ga

Okay so the original resolution which is now being repealed ("Space Research Station Program Act", see page 30 of the past WA resolutions page) was put to vote and accepted about 5 months ago on Saturday October 9th 2010. It was proposed by Northern itasca, and co-authored by Libertytopia and was the first and only resolution proposed by them together. The resolution, although short, was a pretty powerful one in that it brought more legislation to the relatively blank canvas that is space exploration and came about because of a belief "that all nations in the World Assembly should have the opportunity of exploring and researching space, even less capable ones that are not able to do so by themselves."

The resolution passed with ease with 78% of WA nations voting in favour of its acceptance. I have to say that I was part of the 4,632 nations which made up this percentage because I believed it was something that was a natural progression in terms of international space exploration and advancement. However looking back it is easy to see that the resolution was rather vauge and far from as specific as it should have been giving the nature of the issue it is attempting to address.

The repeal document has a lot of strong points to it however I would say the strongest would be that the original resolution:
~only creates one space station to fit the needs of over 12,000 World Assembly member-states spread over several star systems
~and that there is no specified purpose for the space station

However questions about the funding of the space station are also important as the resolution does not provide for any guaranteed funding or minimum donation amounts.

Therefore with these things in mind I am inclined to place a vote in favour of the repeal albeit so a more comprehensive resolution establishing Word Assembly Space Research Station can be created.

What are the region's thoughts on this?

(also a big thank you to Texas and its World Assembly Delegate NewTexas for the inspiration of this template for resolution discussion)

Recently turmoil has erupted in the New Union of Socialist Nations. The World Assembly Delegate of the NUSN, Mixolidian telegrammed me this a short while ago:

"The fascist region, The Greater German Reich placed a mole inside the NUSN and implicated that the Founder was attempting a coup. The GGR are quite focused destabilising socialist regions and we should all be vigilant to stop this."

The mole in question was that of Fantastiana, who often changes his flag and national prefix in order to gain acceptance in socialist regions. Fantastiana is a former Democratic Socialist Alliance member state. He recently posted this on the RMB of the The Greater German Reich:

"I hope I have proved my loyalty to the Reich by splitting the NUSN and causing dissarray among its members. HEIL HITLER!"

I urge everyone in the region to be vigilant of such nations entering our region and encourage anyone with suspicions to telegram either myself or the Founder, Cynthia mckinney, immediately and we will look into the matter.

Be alert but not alarmed.

(Also I am aware I have posted this before however I feel it is important that everyone hears this message, thankfully due to our new RMB reforms I won't have to, yay!)

"I have the final say on foreign policy with my veto power. I will veto any attempt to violate the sovereignty of other regions... The charter says I have veto power." -Cynthia mckinney

I'm afraid Madam Founder that you do not enjoy this veto power at all despite you constant claims to the contrary. Only in one instance does the Charter specify veto rights and that is solely in terms of embassy creation.

"Recognising the special relationship of the Founder to the region, the Founder shall also enjoy a veto right with respect to the establishment of embassies in undemocratic or imperialist foreign regions." - Article II, Section II, Clause VI of the Charter of the Democratic Socialist Alliance

Furthermore the Charter goes on to state:

"Except for the specific enumerated powers cited herein, it is understood that the Founder shall have the sames rights, duties, and obligations as other nations in regard to this Charter. - Article I, Section I, Clause IV of the Charter of the Democratic Socialist Alliance

Thus you have no veto power in terms of foreign policy as you claim, that duty rests with the Foreign Ministry and the Congress to which it is accountable.

At last!! I do indeed dig the new RMB features!
I'll just give the RMB Archive one final plug: If you're ever after messages lodged prior to when these new RMB features took effect, remember to look at the RMB Archive on the forum here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/DemocraticSocialist/forum/1647905/.

Hmm. I was hoping for something a bit more exciting.

Totalitarian socialism vs. Liberatrian socialism.

Go!

What?

Daun, the DSA does not allow totalitarianism in any form. Besides totalitarian socialism is an oxymoron.

I think we should pass an amendment that a message posted on the message board can't be "suppressed" unless it breaks the sites T&C or Etiquette, though you guys might have some other qualifiers to.

I do not think it will be a much of a problem but as a democratic region all the opinions sould be heard.

That sounds reasonable Vauraus.

Sounds helpful to me.

Clearly libertarian socialism, totalitarian socialism really is'nt socialism at all, more like state monopolized capitalism.

Cynthia mckinney

Founder and WA Delegate just have the power to hide posts by suppressing them. They're not actually deleted.
