An small assortment of combat droids lands on the target, send from occupied Coldian. They do the same standard protocol: eliminate chain of command and major military installations, followed by sweeping maneuvers to take the most important and populated centers, followed by critical supply and transport routes. After which, temporary bases can be set up while forces will hunt down remaining enemy forces with precision.

It is around midnight in Pantso. Jeanine Cutoffs, the Director of the Pantsoan Green Sky Response, has just woken from a quick nap and sat down to review the most recent scouting reports . . . again. Jersey Letterback, motorcycle medic and her paramour, had last been sighted responding to a call for help deep in Al-Caedan territory and then simply disappeared. While several incursions had been made by ACOD forces into the area, no sign of him has been found. For the fourth day in the past week she has woken in the middle of the night, thinking of him and wondering if there's some clue she missed that might lead her to his location. She opens her laptop and puts a mug of coffee in the microwave to heat it while the laptop boots.

An impatient knock at the door disturbs Ms. Cutoff's her reverie. Had she just been standing there, mug in hand, thinking?

The knock repeats, and she answers with a half-sigh, "Enter". President Rosie Leggings, wearing (of all things!) sweatpants and a "Pantsoan Jaguars" hoodie, quietly steps in. She carries a bottle in one hand and a pair of wine glasses in the other. She eyes Jeanine's own take on "disheveled chic" - hair coming out of her bun, badly wrinkled blouse, and smudged makeup. "I thought we should talk . . . "

Jeanine eyes her mug, half-full of tepid stale coffee and then sets it down on the counter next to the microwave. She summons a faint smile for her friend and gestures to couch, then grimaces as she realizes it is full of paperwork. Turning around, she spots a small round table with a few chairs . . . all covered in files, reports, and maps. Her desk is just as cluttered. Rosie sets the bottle and glasses down, grabs a couple of pillows off the couch (smacking them a couple times to get the dust off) and turns around, heading back out the door. "Grab the wine, we're getting some fresh air. It's . . . musty . . . in here."

The garden air is fresh and cool, and the guards have fetched them blankets. They sit on the grass, wrapped in blankets, resting against the couch pillows, drinking wine. While their conversation was private, and probably touched on a number of highly confidential subjects and personal topics, the effect was clear. Jeanine slept for the first time since Jersey had disappeared, all through the day and deep into the early evening. She woke, at a sandwich, and went back to bed. The next morning she returned to work, starting by delegating the search to a subordinate and then tidying her office. That done, she sat down to work on the next task: figuring out what the hell happened with Pantso's ACOD allies.
