Had midterm today, test tomorrow, and another on sunday. That's basically what's been consuming my week. Plus they gave me other assignments to do on top of all that. I have finals for one of my other classes next week too.

Nice to hear you're doin well and all

Lately I keep finding myself listening to UVB-76 for some reason. It's not like I expect to catch anything, just it's oddly nice background noise.

It have any lore around it?

I’ve been a on dedicated goal to rise my patriotism levels.

It's essentially a station that plays on shortwave radio. It seems to be military, and transmits to probably other military stations.
It has a buzzing sound that plays every few seconds as a frequency marker. Every once in a while, though, a Russian voice comes through and will list off a series of names and numbers. The exact purpose of this is unknown, but it's neat. Sometimes people broadcast on the same frequency, and sometimes other weird stuff comes through.

I can't say that I have. I actually narrowly missed a voice message just two days ago, by three hours.

and I see.

I feel it, who knows it could be something really mundane or not.

I suspect that it probably is, afterall, it's just broadcasting on shortwave for anyone to hear.

I have a theory about the names sent. I could be wrong, since normally this is used to hide numbers and they're just stating the numbers openly, but I believe that none of the names listed have repeating first letters. So I suspect that it's some sort of shackle code, but I don't know what the hell it would possibly be standing for. But, if it is a shackle code, then it wouldn't matter if it was on public broadcast anyhow, because those things are almost impossible to crack unless you have the list itself, or you spend a huge amount of time on it.

Maybe just “static” it could have a purpose but considering it’s on public signal yet military probably something relating to domestic defense.

With the names being Russian, it’s mos def Cold War era.

Maybe like a broadcasting signal they could use should sov’s get boots on ground somewhere? But since that never happened now it’s used for space?

It could be a space thing. It started running back in the Cold War but they still use it now.
