Believe me when I say this, even outside of the US we know who Trump is and what he's about, lol.

He ruined our economy by failing to act against COVID-19. At least 200,000 people have died to his actions. He has basically destroyed the future of the USA and, with the way he's going at China, the world. How you can tolerate positive mention of a guy who killed the largest amount of Americans in HISTORY?

That sounds like a conversation you should have with the person who made the mention. There was nothing in the mention that was against the rules.

I like freedom of speech, but I'm debating whether I can live in a region where that degree of opinions are allowed.

First off, "freedom of speech" isn't an excuse that works on Nationstates, and outright hate speech or trolling won't have a place in this region, as I stated before.

With that out of the way, here's my approach to the situation. Calirdels has stated that they're in school, and referenced their father before stating political beliefs. I infer from this information that they are young, probably a teenager. Young people often, though not always, pick up their political beliefs through their parents, and these adopted political beliefs can change once that person moves out from under their parents and into their own life. I was certainly a conservative person while in school, because that's what my parents believed and that's all I was exposed to. This is not a unique experience in our community, and plenty of people who were influenced in one direction when they were young grew into a different direction when they were out and experiencing things on their own.

That isn't to patronise or look down on Calirdels, who may believe this whole-heartedly in their own right. If they agree with how Trump has been portrayed to them, that's outside of our concern, as long as they align with our regional values of human rights, environmentalism, and equity for all people. We aren't a US-based region, though a lot of our members live there, and we're not a Canadian-based region, though a lot of our Councillors live there. We're a chill, laid-back, multi-national and multi-cultural place of like-minded individuals who support one another and will engage with one another in a civil manner if topics come up. And if Calirdels is willing to have those discussions with us from time to time, in a civil manner, and approach other opinions with an open mind, they're absolutely welcome here. And, as I said before, if anyone resorts to bullying, hate speech, or outright trolling, that is the point at which we'll move to intervene.

All right. Although I detest Trump with every bone of my body, I shouldn't have raged like that. I can't get anywhere further with my position, so I'll stop arguing. Also, maybe this will make Calirdels change their mind...

I promise, we can sympathise with your position and understand where you're coming from. The US has been a bit of a horror show in our news to the point where I've tried to stop looking at it as much as possible for my own mental and emotional health. Living there is a totally understandable source of stress.

At the rate we're going, the apocalypse may happen within the forseeable future, with the fires on the west coast and all.

Those are for the most part better now, fwiw. At least the ones that were covering us in smoke.

No... I live on the east coast, so I'm not effected, but California is getting hit hard. Some of my relatives who live there have come close to being evacuated.

Yeah... I live in the Pacific Northwest and was being affected by the fires (specifically the smoke), I was talking about personal experiences as someone who lives close to the area. And yes, earlier in September, things were really bad. Like I said, they're mostly calmed now.

What do you mean it would change my mind "The Mostly Liberal Democracy of Flohovistan"?

All right. Trump lies like heck. Virtually everything he proposed was a lie. And he's cozying up to RUSSIA! RUSSIA! America hating Russia with every bone of our body is one of the defining factors of our fair country. Trump is friendly with our greatest enemy. That alone should get people to not vote for him.

But that's just rhetorical arguments, semantics. Real-world politics are driven by actions and ideological stances; I think it merits looking closer at policy to determine what you support rather than hanging your hat on terminology.

You're literally arguing with an April Fools Day theme setting from 2005. Please search for an actual opinion.

So your policy goals is based entirely around a label that a candidate has? That's a great indicator that you're in no way affected by anything they do.

Anyway, Trump is a fascist, not a republican. He's only running as a republican so people like him.

I'd agree there, although i consider it more productive to identify the USA as a fascist state. It's understandable to point out powerful fascist individuals like trump, but too many people (mostly white moderates) get caught up with focusing all their energy on trump as a person. it's pretty much a guarantee that the fascist uprising in america will continue, regardless of who wins in november. also, the republican party is pretty fashy too

Yup. America is kinda doomed, but less so if the Democratic candidate wins. Biden's gonna try to fix our climate and other problems.

While he's not gonna be as good as Obama, he's gonna be a heck of a lot better than some presidents we've had in the past.

I think most of your presidents have been bad 😅 like maybe you've had a few who weren't, but maybe the US political system isn't good.
