Intervention in Brasilistan

Following what was characterized by the government as a hostage crisis, the nation has launched sustained aerial assaults against the nation of Brasilistan. The Foreign affairs and Defence ministers made a joint statement, detailing the devastating effects the bombing had on the nations ability to wage war. The House of Commons and the Deit were given full statements later, and the government announced it planned to step up such action in the future to prevent other hostage situations abroad.
The opposition has criticized the governments aggressive action, and many in the nation are concerned about the sudden abandonment of the isolationist policies the government has promised to govern on. The Foreign Minister has stated that the mission in Brasilistan will be very limited in scope, and is designed to display the nations resolve. He said the operation was viewed by the government as a key step in ensuring the nations status, and that such action would be used by the government to defend citizens in further such crisis.
The attacks represent a shift away from isolationism, and their is a great deal of tension growing in the party between the isolationist and internationalist wings, a problem evident in the debate over WA membership and now exaserbated by the conflict in Brasilistan. Despite concern over the possibility of precedent setting, the party remains united in support for action on the "Brasilistan question".
